Absolutely!!! I have an ultra coming up in April. I seriously was going to skip my long run today. After watching Heather push through her training… I’m packing right now and headed to the mountains 😎. So good to see her back at it 🍻.
I broke a heel and a vertebrae in November. Watching your videos during my time in the hospital and in rehabilitation inspired me and motivated me to do a triathlon at the end of next summer. Now I’m waiting for the all clear from the doctor to start training
My comeback after having a baby was going pretty well until she started at nursery. I've now been constantly ill for 5 months 😅🤧 I was literally running more when I was pregnant!
What an inspiration! Heather is by FAR the toughest presenter (though, closely followed by Rich Payne) across all the various channels. Lots more Heather content please.
@@heatherfell_olyyou're a legend! It only seems like a few weeks ago my missus and I watched your video about 'preparing the pelvic floor' as she was around 6months pregnant. Hope you and baby (and baby's dad) are all well 😊 Congrats on getting back out running and also smashing the 41trail run! 😮 4h30!!!! ..legend.
Just imagined the moment Baby Magnus becomes a boy and watches these videos, sees the medals lying in some box in the house and becomes so proud of mom❤
I’m such a big fan of Heather’s. Love seeing her happy and chasing new goals. After my wife gave birth, she’s find very difficult starting excersising again and seeing Heather doing it is very inspirational.
Warrior Heather! Congratulations! I think we all underestimate how much of a toll pregnancy and the post partum period takes on a woman’s body. Then to have an injury too. So impressive. Super motivational and emotional to watch ❤
Well done, Heather. I have a trail marathon coming up soon. While I'm hurting, ill remind myself that I'm not attempting it post surgery like you did, and that'll spur me on.
You are a great inspiration, Heather, well done! I'm doing a 60 k trail race in just over nine weeks, and I've only just started training again after two month of because of sickness, so just yhe content I needed 🙂👍
Such a great story and toughing it out when suffering especially while filming. AND with a video verified 17th place time! 😉 Double tough.💪 Huge congrats!
Great job, Heather! You are a talented athlete with a future of events left ahead of you! I am a very average athlete and have found that I am not the runner I once was after a lifetime of minor injuries. Nonetheless, at 50, I am continuing. It takes considerable mental strength :). Glad you are part of the channel!
Heather, congrats on your baby! You're amazing doing an ultra 10 months after having a baby!! I ran my first half marathon 10 months after baby #3 and it was awful 😂 Way to go finishing it!!! And welcome back 😊
Great job Supermum! Running is definitely salve for the soul but can hurt the body....Ouch! 😣 Stunning video too! Thanks GTN Team. First run in the first snow of the year here in Vancouver so it's nice to see some sun in the UK 🇨🇦
Well done Heather, great to see you again (this time not in Christmas fancy dress)! Sorry we both couldn't speak at the end, I was exhausted! You did amazingly well! I think your film crew and my film crew should team up! What's next for you?
the thought " i am not ready for that" can be so much painful and can make so much trouble but if you have done and achieved your big goal, you can say to yourself "see, i knew i can do it and i indeed was ready for my goal and i crushed it" this is such a wonderful feeling^^ Heather, you are amazing! respect! and for everyone else who reads this, you are amazing too! We can endure so much more than we can ever imagine! just go for it!
Awesome! Arc of Attrition has caught my eye several years ago. Hopefully one day I'll get there and experience the coastline! Heather, it's nice to see You back presenting and back in action, but take Your time and stay present to Your baby as long as You can - the first year passes way too quick! =)
Bravo Heather. Your advice lives on in yourself. Just keep going forward. You gave me advice on my swimming as well. Just keep swimming. Those starts in Triathlon are grueling but you just got to keep swimming. Cheers
Great run Heather! Relaxin can stay in your body for up to 12 months post-partum - that might be why you started to feel joint pain when you were fatigued.
Congratulations, Heather! You placed in the top 20 women (looking at the UTMB results, your name is not in, so this is an estimate), so clearly you ran this in a fantastic way. And within a year of having a major surgery and a broken bone, your achievement is huge.
Well done, you beat me. I unexpectedly suffered toe and calf cramping from 18k onwards which stopped me moving at pace. I still made it in before the sun went down and subsequently with legs not too tired due to not being able to run as much as I'd like but not my finest outing. It was a tough course but I'll be back in 2026 for the 80k I reckon
Well 41km with 1000D+ at 6:39 pace is not bad at all, but it's not an ultra distance. The event itself surely was an ultra event, but 41km is just 1,2 km short of being an ultra.
So many cynics and people quick to pee on the runner’s chips. Celebrate the effort and enjoy the video. Or don’t. No need to spoil it for Heather or anyone else. It’s not about you.
Also, I think you should do more coverage on being a mum and athlete.. because it’s not like your baby is born and suddenly your body and life are back to normal… I’ll bet your still in the world of sleep deprivation right now.
Was looking forward to watching this video. Unfortunately l was not able to as l watch with the sub titles on and they are constantly obscured by adverts for GTN gear. Disappointing
Hate to be that person but i feel like this could be a little mis leading - the race was not 'Arc of Attrition' as that is synomous with the original Arc of Attrition 100 mile race. Just like the Arc 50 and Arc 25 (new this year) are races affiliated but are not referred to as 'Arc of Attrition' in isolation. Whilst this is still a fantastic achievement, it undersells the achievement of those actually completing the Arc of Attrition (100mile) - one of the hardest in the UK
I am the first to admit I did the baby version and would never "pretend" to do the 100 mile, that is another level. UTMB now market all three races with the distance ahead, hence I did the Arc 25 as opposed to the Arc 50 and Arc 100
Has Heather’s comeback to fitness inspired you to start your own journey? 💪

That s great heather. It’s been good being able to follow along to see your progress. Good to see you back making GTN films as well.

Love having you back heather!
Thanks Harrison!
This is proper running, the effort required to do steep hills, stairs, sandy terrain and so on makes it so much harder. Well done 💪 .
Thanks, but definitely didn't feel it the whole way haha
Unreal, Heather!! That looked HARD. You know how sometimes cameras make stuff look flatter and easier? NOPE! This one looked brutal. What a comeback!!

@@heatherfell_oly that’s fair! Mark did crush it tbf! 🤣 All the best 👊🏽
Well done! Was there anything you would have done differently for your prep for this event?
Well 41km with 1000D+ at 6:39 pace is not bad at all, but it's not an ultra distance. The event itself surely was an ultra event, but 41km is just 1,2 km short of being an ultra.

@@heatherfell_oly fair enough. Perhaps we should label runs over 4 hours as ultras as well, even if they do not reach over a marathon distance
If you add 1km for every 100m up, its going to count as ultra 😄
@@tomaszkwiatkowski1049 I like that theory!
And 1000D+ in 41K is pretty gentle. I get this kind of elevation in half the distance in my local mountains......

5:35/km for first 20km 😳

A post-partum body is very different for an athlete. Any old injury can yield chronic aches and pains going forward.

Very click baitey using the term Ultramarathon😮?? Good effort all the same💪
Congratulations! Awesome job, very impressive! :)
But isn't the definition of "ultra" that it's (considerably) above 42k?
This isn’t an ultra marathon, as it’s not longer than a marathon. It borders on r/runningcirclejerk territory. But still very cool!
Is 41 k considered UM?
50k and up
