  • @anthemofadam

    Sound advice, pretty much how I did it. Some rules can be broken and some can be self limiting. If you don’t have a fancy camera and you don’t have editing software yet but you want to start, just do it. See the very first video on my channel where I break the rule for having good production value. If the content is good enough, people will still watch in spite of poor production quality.
    You kind of alluded to this but these days on RUclips it’s better to pick a very specific niche to give yourself the best odds at growth in the beginning. Drill down as specific as possible. Play one game, teach one type of music, do recipe videos that are a specific type of food (gluten free, vegan, Mexican, etc.) at least to start. Once you see a little growth and gain a bit of traction, consider diversifying a bit from there as long as it’s still relevant. I just broke 1k subs on my gaming channel which I credit to doing everything you talk about in this video but also because I’m playing only a certain indie game that doesn’t have much content being made for it. I’ll reply to this comment from that channel if anyone’s curious.
    Anyway, great video. You really cut out the BS. I’ll be sharing this with everyone I talk to about starting their own channel. Thank you!

      The gaming channel

    • @StreamScheme
      @StreamScheme  4 года назад +3

      These are all great points! It seems you're very on top of things!
      All rules have an exception obviously, I think that's been the thing I've noticed about creating content. Some people find the exception and try use it to find an excuse.
      Great work on your channel! And I really appreciate the kind words!

    • @anthemofadam
      @anthemofadam 4 года назад +1

      @@StreamScheme People will use not having a good camera or computer as an excuse to never get started, while others will have absolutely terrible production quality for 20 or 30 videos and wonder why they aren't growing. I'm always torn on how much to stress production quality when I inevitably find myself having these conversations with aspiring creators.
      I seriously considered making this video myself and just throwing it up on my gaming channel for hitting 1k subs but I'm glad to have found yours to share instead. Your production quality is better! You also included a couple things that I probably wouldn't have.

    • @StreamScheme
      @StreamScheme  4 года назад +2

      I think it comes back to the content being crucial mainly, that and decent audio quality because it's pretty much proven if you hurt someone's ears they will leave but 144p they'll still stick around.
      I think just continual improvements is where I landed for how much stress to put on production value, as long as every video is better than the last I am happy.
      Thanks again for the kind words, and sharing it to others, it means a lot for a growing channel.

I watch these kinds of videos all the time from the likes of Devin Nash giving full lectures to Harris Heller. I had gotten to 20 concurrent viewers on my twitch years ago in about 3 weeks, though disaster struck in my life and I had to drop streaming entirely for several years. I want to get started again and the competition is tough. I agree quality is very important which is why I've invested quite a bit of money and a lot of time to try to get back into the game. These days I can't seem to capture an audience anymore even though my stream is even better quality than it ever has been in the past. Don't think I'm really asking for advice, but maybe just feel like sharing a part of what the demographic of your audience is like. I'm sure you'll continue with content like this in the future and who knows, I may find my answers there. I literally had my viewers asking me to set up a donation button on my stream so they could support me, though it was a bit too late. Not that I'm blaming them, what happened has nothing to do with them. Sorry just kinda venting/ranting and I guess I shouldn't really submit this as it doesn't really have much to do with my original comment or reply. Just started my RUclips and twitch. I have 25 subs on RUclips and 3 dedicated viewers on twitch who watch every stream from beginning to end!!!! I’m stoked for this journey and where it takes me.
    I really love playing the game I stream and want everyone else to enjoy the fun with me!
    The only problem I have as of right now is with iOS you can’t enable your mic while streaming because it messes up the game sounds and makes everything sound weird. So I guess my first investment will be a laptop or desktop computer.
    I also have a dedicated room that I can use to stream from and set up for my daily streams once I get a computer!!!! Let’s gooooooo!

    Yo can you make a round up list of things for twitch people overlook or new twitch streamers forgot to do!
    Like a lot of people understand the simple stuff like overlays, mics, etc but can you do a list of things such as bots, emotes, music, viewer interactions, Streamlabs prime apps, etc (just a list of things that could make your stream a little better)
    You can also link them to previous videos if they relate or create upcoming ones that are an in depth look at one aspect of the list.
    Don’t know if any of this makes sense but it would keep people in a rabbit hole of content and wanting to learn more from your videos.
    Just a thought but keep up the great work 🔥

    • @StreamScheme
      @StreamScheme  4 года назад

      Are you asking me to do this? I have a lot of links in the description and every card is a playlist if that helps? I know that you only stream on twitch but I've been debating on if that's the right platform for me period I was wondering if you had any comments on streaming on RUclips versus twitch.

    • @StreamScheme
      @StreamScheme  4 года назад +2

      I think the biggest thing is that Twitch isn't growth friendly, even more so when you have minimal views and don't appear high in categories. You don't necessarily have to grow on RUclips but you do need to find some means of building off platform. Social media, subreddits etc. RUclips and Facebook are just starting out and they are much more discoverable but to me they just lack the community and culture that Twitch has.
      Alpha Gaming/Harris said something similar and it really struck me, Twitch has a shared culture throughout every stream that I don't think RUclips or Facebook will have for a long time.

    • @solarisdevorak
      @solarisdevorak 4 года назад +2

      @@StreamScheme that's an awesome response man that does really help my decision making quite a bit! I understand the culture is not there with RUclips but I'm just wondering like you said if it may be more growth friendly if I make the Right moves. thank you so much for your engagement I love your RUclips videos and I am also one of the few that does cross over and watch you play every once in awhile! Maybe we can get another subtrain going lol

    • @CodyMerritt
      @CodyMerritt 4 года назад +2

      I'm grossly oversimplifing things, but RUclips is good if you want to grow quickly as there is better algorithm integration. Twitch is better if you want to grow community as Twitch has built its community over the years and many of the viewers are quite dedicated and immersed in the streaming culture. You really can't go wrong with either :)
      I opted for Twitch because I had a lot of friends over there and the world feels smaller and closer. Best of luck, friend!

      Tbh i love RUclips but I've been streaming and editing for 9 years and recently hit 200 followers here on RUclips. i started twitch and hit 50 followers in 2 days. But I don't consider myself much of a streamer but more like a content creator exactly why I've stuck to RUclips all this years but I might abandon it all together and jump to twitch.

I'll still be pushing and I believe I can do it, I just need to get that flavour for the videos!

    • @StreamScheme
      @StreamScheme  4 года назад +1

      It's about making a formula I think, I can film 5 - 6 videos in a day now because of the formula/scripting process being so locked in. Get that formula to make it as easy as you can to create high quality content and go from there.

    • @gingerdio7705
      @gingerdio7705 4 года назад

    titles to be more searchable?

    • @StreamScheme
      @StreamScheme  4 года назад +2

      It's usually about the keywords/tags to start with, if someone is looking for something you can get a good guess based off autofill results when starting out.
      I show it in the "how to install mods" screen recording near the start, where I show all the games people search for.
      I'd say aim to have the search term as the title and then add things to make it more valuable/clickable.
