Rami and Pat look like they already heard this story about the meaning of the song a million times lol
I kind feel the same but its still an interesting background to a song
@@TheReagle67 sure, the fact is that they're doing a ton of interviews this period and in every single one of them Dave tells this story
Because they have... and they will hear it for a long time hahaha
well, yeah, it´s dave´s band. As a musician, must be hard, just keep playing what you´re told so. As A JOB that must be awesome. In the balance, it´s just great in the end !!! =]
It's their job.... PR
The chord progression for this song is refreshingly unique and modulated. And catchy, for sure. Great tune.
This is what Taylor calls "story time with Dave" and he (Taylor) yawns mid story 😂
spinnin some yarn
Lol it was mentioned during their 25th anniversary special Times Like These that Taylor and Chris yawned during the acoustic tour back in 2005
I enjoy story time with dave
I really hope there was a "making of" series of these songs
Great song. Dave is a true inspiration for young people like me just struggling through everyday boring life especially in times like these (you learn to live again)
My favorite song on the record. The first line “I’ve been waiting on a war since I was young, since I was a little boy with a toy gun” so powerful
Love, love, love this song. So infectious like musical crack.
That story from Dave about being a kid afraid of being in a war is super relatable. I was in high school when 9/11 happened and I was always afraid that they would start drafting people into the military and I didn't want to turn 18.
Also this is my favorite song on the album.
I wish the last part was longer
Wait for the live shows... I have a feeling they will extend it, or at least I hope so
what the hell "Ömer Evci 1 week ago" how tf
@@f.o.d.5445 yo actually what the fuck
No seriously what the fuck
Keşke
I'm 46 ! I was as afraid as Dave after i've seen "the day after". But i growen up on the otherside of the iron curtain. But i felt the same. thank god that this fear is over. peace.
Good job Foo Fighters, You guys rock! 💿 🎤 🎸 🥁 🤘🏻 😁
My Favourite song from the album 💙
Does anyone else feel like the verse referencing "a toy gun" could be calling back to his first self titled album with the ray gun cover. The whole song becomes more about the band's journey and the world around that rather than the world's turmoil
Brasil ama vocês 💙🇧🇷
So love this new music.
Great job guys.
Legends😎
FAVORITE from this album! 🥇❣️
This song should be in every setlist for the rest of your tour days!!!
I love watching these❤❤
Love love love this song, hit for sure... ✌
Yeah, we need mor chill time with the Foo Fighters
Sat down had a few drinks last night played some music and I think I played this song like 5 times lol, sooo damm good
This song gives me feels. I grew up in the dc area too and I had dreams like that during the bush era when the us went into Afghanistan and Iraq. It was a really hard thing to cope with growing up. NPR had a section every day about the war in Iraq and I remember thinking: this is messed up and it’s never going to end.
One of my favs on the album
Can't wait to sing this song along in a show 😍
I love you Dave!!
Y’all break my heart in this one. I’ve always wished for better for my daughters but sadly the same worries are there today.
Love you guys! I’ve been a fan since I was that 10 year old you speak of!
I LOVE THE TRACK!
Awesome track and agree one for every night on tour.
Probably my favorite song on the album
That song is fucking amazing, it’s my new fav rock song in 2021
The song to stop all wars!
Great song ! Playing the song on my guitar everyday here in the motor city! First Video you did on a serious note! All your other ones was on the fun side of life. Kerry
such a good song
Hi
Foo fighters ❤
Great stuff 👍😉
Hell yeah!
My favorite!!!!!!!!
I grew up in a city in the Northeast USA with an Active Air Force Base, from kindergarten on up, all the students were taught and practiced air raid drill protocols. We thought our community would be bombed first. The Air National Guard is still here and the military jets, helicopters and other huge transport airplanes are heard often. I think they practice touch and goes, but we don’t hear them breaking the sound barrier as we used to as children. 🕊
Having grown up from grade school through high school with Vietnam on every magazine cover and on every nightly news show, Ready for War really hit home...home those years was Warren,Ohio
That's Waiting on A War...Ready for War was a Jerry Harrison Casual Gods song.Jerry from Talking Heads, that is
Yeah waiting on a war really hit home growing up during Cold War
Waiting on a war is my favorite song
This whole series in a nutshell is Dave says the name of the song, does a really fucking good version of it by stomping and clapping and snapping, and then they sit around and tell stories. I need more of it.
❤❤❤
'The Day After' came out in 1983, so Dave, you were 14. I was born in 1983, so I didn't see it when it premiered, but I did see it as a VHS rental a few years later around 1986 or '87. Might've been a bootleg copy too, recorded off the TV, because as far as I know, that movie never got an official home video release. For anyone interested, you can see 'The Day After' here on RUclips. Just search 'The Day After 1983.'
I was 9 yo when the day after came out, and it literally gave me a panic attack! I remember my parents had to calm me down. Not even sure why they let me watch it with them in the first place.
I have the same memories as Dave explained. Just so strange to see people from that era watching news paid for by those same people today and thinking hmm yeah! That’s REAL news! It’s a beautiful song. Hopefully we’ll all be able to sing along with them eventually.
As a Iraq Veteran hearing "waiting on a war" took me back to when I was a kid knowing I wanted to be just like my dad he served in Vietnam I know it was an unpopular war but I was still proud of him ( he passed in 2004 6 months after I returned home from injuries in Iraq ) did 24 yr's 3 deployments and a Purple Heart and there isn't a day that goes by I don't think about my time there I did worry about a nuclear war as well ( i enlisted in 85) I'll leave with this " War isn't about who won .... it's about who's left. peace
Also helps when your country spends 8x the sum total of the entire defence budgets all the countries of the world. Nothing war about it... Its a one sided demolition.
Had I been there I would have said "Yes, Alan Moore wrote about the generation that grew up in the knowledge of the Atom bomb". It was common for some of us, the history of nuclear preparation in the UK is fascinating. Hello!
Why do the best songs happen so fast. Must be if you capture the original emotion it translates into amazing songs.
The Day After scared the living shit out of me back then!!!!!!
The Day After didn't really bother me that much, but Threads did, it felt much darker to me. The Terminator movie where Linda Hamilton talks about the nuclear war of the future...that freaked me, that shit made me have nightmares about war! Anyhoos, I get where Dave is coming from with this song. My anti war song is a song I wrote called Crossfire.
I wondered why I looked so much like you Dave. We grew up in the same area. There is a thing or conspiracy when it’s a generational felt fear. Are we talking truth now. you were there the entire time during covid. I dreamed you were my brother , small world. .
He was actually between 23 and 14 years of age when The Day After came out.
Yea yea Dave we heard that story already....
Hi Mr. Dave Grohl, would it be possible if you, Krist, Pat, and Chad Channing would do a jam session, record it and put it on youtube as a one off thing? You on vocals and guitar, Krist on bass, Pat Smear on the 2nd guitar/backing vocals, and Chad on drums? You guys could perform songs from "Bleach and Incesticide". That would be so cool.. just the 4 of you in a garage somewhere, jamming, and recording it and putting it on youtube.
The song is just like "Everlong"
I feel like this needs to be like Monkey Wrench/Pretender with the buildup to the part at the end when played live.
Regan just happened to be in office when we were the same age. When the Berlin Wall fell under Regan that was a relief. I felt way more under strain under Carter!! Between the Iran Hostage crisis and gas shortage, that was a bad time. EVERY GENERATION WORRIES ABOUT WAR........BLAME THE MEDIA, that’s why your daughter is worried! Media is to blame! Love this song!
I think it's interesting how the album cover has the same colors as wasting the light. Is there a hidden connection?

It's such a moving song. I grew up in the mid eighties and early nineties and remember getting an angry lecture from my elementary school art teacher circa '87 maybe? About how bad Russia is, and how the kids there are so poor and mistreated and we should be so lucky to be privileged American kids and Reagan is going to keep us safe and blah blah blah.. also I grew up during Desert Storm too. That was fun. Getting all that false news about what was really going on and gung ho patriotism and how bad Iraq was and let's got to war and save the world! I feel for Dave's daughter. She's just a kid trying to understand adult problems on the news. If our kids can't trust us to get our cat together where are we going wrong?
Pat is always rubbing himself. I think that means hes very comfortable.
Thank God children in the Stone Age never had to worry about dying.
In another interview he said Harper just wanted to go on a drive. Sorry Dave, some of us fans have good memories:p
Lol from this video it seems like he doesn’t totally remember
And the moment the song came out, it felt like another war was coming, be it civil or world.
Don't bait loins, they're bitey.
No Nukes movement and concert and everything. oh yeah lol
There's no subtitles :'(
Repeat TOO MUCH Love Dies Young please don´t take your breath way
D’Elia? 😂😂😂 jkjk
Since we are now in pretty weird times in Poland i listen to this song a lot and realize that every now and then there was always a place on this planet that people are threatened with a war, we are human race, planning to build a base on moon and we can't get shit right here on earth, how come we can succeed further
I lived about 10 minutes from Dave Grohl. I know exactly how he felt.
I LOVE DAVES STORIES. *GET BACK ON INSTAGRAM PLEASEEEEEE*
I respect your opinion, but doesn't that make you think? When you said about RR coming into office and it's about to go down? Don't you stand there and think: "Hey, something doesn't look right now in hindsight. Was it the media actually that painted that picture?"
I think it’s because of ices attacking mozambique
I remember being young in the 70s and early 80s as well. I was scared all to hell of the Russians. Growing up in an ultra religious home and always being in church with preachers and other so called authority figures who would thrive on keeping us as scared as possible. They had us convinced that Russians were these minions of hell which were going to nuke us at any time and our only hope for survival was to beg "God" for mercy. We were young, naive, and easy targets for organized religion. Keep 'em scared so to speak. It worked for them for a while anyway.
Can you play the music not just talking about it? New album???
Every track is on the channel as well as live performances of quite a few of the tracks.
