Thanks for making this! Unfortunately the iPhone 16 pro only fits without its case until this part is added. Even with this part, the phone charges more consistently when facing backwards.
Thanks for this. It's been years of running a cable to charge my phone as I use Google maps. I finally installed an Android MMI Box and was eagerly waiting to finally use the wireless charger. Went to the local car wash, and one of the guys broke the adapter whilst cleaning the car and didn't say anything about it. On to the next DIY 😊
It's fantastic! for menis a big trouble i can t use wireless charger 'cause my mobile phone is too big. May i ask you if you sell this adapter? thak you! i wrote from Italy.
@@sergekuyken I think he's been out of sorts for a bit. Instead, I downloaded the model from here: www.thingiverse.com/thing:3884508 and then had Shapeways print it for me www.shapeways.com . I haven't installed it yet, but the dry fit was nearly perfect.
Is this charger so slow that does not charge the phone while using carplay ? Just asking because i want to buy one but i see the induktiv aftermaket brand is faster
@@1zamboni unfortunately you can’t because there is quite a bit of distance from where the OEM cradle ends to where the phone’s bottom is. I though the same thing when I first started test driving the car and noticed that it wouldn’t work.
@@1zamboni miss read that. I have had the 10xs max and now just upgraded to the 12 pro max. Those the trimming wouldn’t work but with your it might. I know my work phone which is a 10xr fits just fine with a case on it.
I have a BMW X1 with exact same charging tray and unfortunately my iPhone 11 Pro Max does not fit. Where can I get one of those adjustable sliders or better yet where can I find someone to replace mine?
Has anyone tried to use the car with the wireless charger unplugged? Do you see error messages on the screen or in diagnosis? I installed the adapter as indicated here in the video (thanks to the author for the clear and exhaustive video 😊) but when I tried to position the phone it heats up a lot and charges slowly, so I would like to remove the wireless charger and take advantage of a larger storage in the armrest.
@@HMDriven It didn't bore me, in fact it was very useful, thanks to that I was able to adapt the wireless support to my "big" phone. Unfortunately, in my case it's not very efficient (it charges slowly and warms) so I'm thinking of removing it, hoping not to run into error messages in the iDrive or in diagnosis when I take the car to the dealer for maintenance
I never asked at BMW garage as it was click and collect. I have the wireless charger option, do I just slot my iPhone 7 (normal sized phone, not plus size) in there or do I need some adapter to make my iPhone wireless compatible? I have put it in there and the blue light lights up, but It doesn't say it's charging? Thanks for any help, not really many RUclips videos of this
Unfortunately iPhone 7 is not wireless charging compatible it does not have the coil in the back of charge. As for wireless Apple car play you should be able to use it as long as your phone software supports it.
@@HMDriven Thanks for your reply. Is this the same for all iPhone models do you know; I've been due an upgrade for years? I have connected the Apple Car Play thanks, I'm now trying to figure out how to stop it playing automatically when I switch on.
🤣🤣🤣 I had this same pet peeve! The best way I have found so far is to just push the volume button so it does not start playing immediately. If I find another way I’ll comment on here
I done this today. And annoyed that it doesn’t even charge with a phone case in the phone lol. I am now contemplating removing the unit altogether to get some storage space back. Is this possible does anyone know.
You can delete it yes. Remove the charger in the same way as you did for the install and then follow the charger cable to the connector to unplug. You will have to then cut a small mat to fit into that storage gap.
Hi Justin, as HM said! If the phone with case is a tad bigger than 166mm I can also print a custom print which I do for even bigger phones like the Samsung S20 ultra 🙌🏽😌 (we all know iPhones are the best though 😉😂)

Fun fact about this wireless charger, it is also connected to your car's shark fin antenna on the roof so it also acts as a cell phone signal booster

Can you just take off the end piece entirely and just put the phone on? Will that work?
You can’t because the cradle holds the phone in place and it also activated the charger.
