I'm a Reds fan, but I love seeing this passion from the Pirates fans. Just like us in recent years, they don't have a lot to cheer about in the Steel City with their baseball team. So I was legitimately happy for them, even though we lost.
My brother is a huge Pirates fan, as was my late uncle who passed away in 2016. So naturally after this I wanted the Pirates to do well.

I'm watching the 2018 A's at NYY wildcard playoff game on tv right now with a few friends and the topic came up - does home field advantage really impact the players or play a part in determining the outcome? I immediately thought of this playoff game & showed them the clip. After watching this clip we all unanimously shared the same opinion & agreed that it does. I am a Reds fan & they've caused me to suffer an enormous amount of pain & mental anguish over the years. Any trash talk or negative comment/put down you can think of - I've already heard it. What makes it even worse is that it's usually the truth & I just have to sit there and take it. They haven't provided any ammunition for their fans to use in rebuttal since the Eric Davis, Jose Rijo, & Chris Sabo led World Series champion Reds of 1990. We did have a couple of brief postseason appearances in 1995 (ATL) & 2003 (Philadelphia). The 1995 playoffs (in true reds fashion, we beat LAD in the NLDS allowing us to become overly optimistic about our chances, only to have our hearts broken after getting steam rolled & swept 4-0 by ATL. Not to mention the ass whopping the Phillies gave us in 2003. Just to make that series even more memorable, we were on the wrong end of a masterpiece, a no-no beautifully thrown by Halladay (RIP-Roy Halladay). I thought this year was different, I thought we had a legitimate chance at making a deep playoff run. Even now, I think CIN was a better OVR team than Pittsburgh, but the Pittsburgh faithful brought their A game to the ballpark that night. Going into that game, I was pretty confident in our chances of winning. After Cueto went to the mound, after the 1st 2 pitches I realized we would be lucky if we weren't mercy ruled after 5 innings lol. It was one of the most amazing moments I've ever witnessed in all of sports. The crowd was so amazing, I don't understand why more fan bases don't try to replicate this & do it to opposing teams, especially in postseason games. I'll forever offer a tip of my cap to the city of Pittsburgh & the intensity the fans brought to that game. It was just that little bit extra that team needed to help then advance. It's just another chapter in the long history of suffering that comes along with being a Reds fan, but it was memorable. If anyone ever tries convincing you that the players aren't effected by the fans in attendance or that the home field field doesn't have an impact on the outcome of the game, just show them this video. Who knows, if we ever have another win or go home playoff (however unlikely) appearance with Pittsburgh at Great American Ball Park, maybe we can return the favor. This really was an unbelievable moment & every Pittsburgh fan that was in attendance should forever be proud to be a part of it.

You know I put a bit of the blame for Martin’s home run on Cincy’s catcher and pitching coach. You’re just going to sit there as your ace pitcher is clearly rattled when he dropped that ball. Instead, you just let him get back into his wind up and lob a meatball to Martin clearly frazzled. At least go out there and talk with him for 30 seconds-let him catch his breath and calm down! Neither Hanigan (catcher) or Dusty Baker (manager) were newbies…they should have had the sense to go out there and calm down Cueto.

Check the young ginger haired guy in the third row just to the left of the catcher. He knows it's gone the instant it leaves the bat.
