Hi Richard Thanks very much for watching the video. Yes, there will be a small amount of old oil left after draining, not only in the bottom of the sump but in other inaccessible recesses in the engine as well. However, the fact that the car manufacturer has designed the oil to be changed via the sump plug indicates to me that they are happy enough with this method. By the time the new oil goes in and mixes with the old it will be good enough for what the engine requires. It’s more important to make sure you change the oil at the recommended frequency and make use of the dipstick to ensure the correct level.
Hi @emvlogzz5307 Thanks very much for watching. This is common with diesel engines. When performing an oil change not all the old oil is drained - a small amount of residual oil is left in the nooks and crannies of the engine galleries, which then mixes with the new oil and turns it black. No neeed to worry though - the ratio of new oil to old will be very high, so it will perform just fine.
Hi rta1027 On our vehicle we were recommended 5w/30 fully synthetic but best to just give your registration to your motor parts supplier and go by their recommendation. Thanks for watching
Hi Peter Thanks very much for watching our video. With reference to your question, if you mean how to reset the service message 'oil change required' then please look at one of our other videos detailed below. Hi tims2676 Thanks for watching the video. The oil will certainly drain out faster if it is hot. It will also drain if warm or cold, but will just take a little longer.
Hi Richard Thanks for watching 3.9 litres might be the recommended quantity of oil but I wouldn't put in the whole amount in one go just in case you accidentally overfill. You can always top up in small incremental amounts to hit the maximum line.
Great and helpful video. Got a number of filters changed using your videos allowing me to service my car myself 👍
That’s great Adam. This is exactly why we post these videos

Hi Nigel
Glad the video helped you out - thanks for watching
Watching this makes me appreciate how easy my e39 530i was to work on. Ford doesn’t make it easy for a technician do they!
If you don’t like Fords then you really won’t like Citroens / Peugots / Renaults 😄
What size socket did you use for removing and tightening the drain plug?
Hi JamOwnzU
Thanks for watching the video. It's a 21mm socket you will need.
@@carjunkieschannel Thank you for replying and making the video!

How come the oil was still black after you had changed it?

Hallo, oil motor 0w30 or 5w30???

Ciao meso olio 0w30 o 5w30? Grazie
Hi Zeljko - 5W30 fully synthetic would be the best oil to use
In the newer 1.5 TDCI (2015-), Ford recommends 0W30 fully synthetic C2 oil
where is the action when the kilometre counter is restarted?

Always thought engine had to be hot for an oil change

It takes 3.9 litre of oil.
