  • The Manitou Springs area was sacred among the Sun Mountain Utes for it's natural carbonated mineral springs and unique geographic features. Americans also thought it was amazing, turning it into a successful holistic health community in 1872. Since then Manitou Springs has become an international travel destination with a vibrant downtown area and dozens of famous attractions nearby including Pikes Peak, Cave of the Winds and the Manitou Incline among others.
Ski Lodge was created to publicly document our travels around Colorado. Started to simply get everyone out of the house, it has turned into a vast collection of history, photography and general information.
*A historical mistake was discovered at 0:58 as I stated the Spanish never passed through Ute Canyon, when in fact Juan Bautista de Anza travelled east along Fountain Creek in 1779 during his attack on Comanche Chief Cuerno Verde.

My love and I visit Manitou Springs often just to walk around the downtown areas and almost always enjoy a quiet, though very public, picnic on blankets at Soda Springs Park or Memorial Park.
Those aren't weird or strange, hippie or homeless or neer'do well's you ran into! That's just the wonderful, eclectic to eccentric normal people who inhabit this Bohemian town.
During COVID-19 lockdown (2020), the residents of this incredible community would walk out on their front porch or whatever was the residents equivalent, every evening at 8pm to collectively _"howl like a wolf"_ with all the other residents. This sound echoed off houses, buildings and the rock walls of the canyon it resides in and was truly a spine chilling yet uplifting event to experience as an outsider.
The people that live in this place seek to be different, follow their own rules and pathways and are not interested in what others think of them. I believe we all would be as better off, if there were more Manitou's in the world.
Last but definitely not leasst, there is hardly any crime there too. The MSPD are as much like their citizens, they are very respectful with a live and let live vibe. ❤

Great travel video. I always like the abundance of locally owned businesses, such as the arcades, gift shops and restaurants. Plus, it’s a very walkable town off tourist season.

I did the incline on a 90* day once. That was a bad idea :). Another great video, Ski Lodge.

I was there a couple years ago. The day I was there (early June) was WAY to crowded for me. Didn't get out of car or stop anywhere. So, just drove to Garden of the Gods for a longer stay there. Would love to visit in a not so busy time.
