very nice video
Thanks for pointing out your good experiences about Boulder, my home town. You did miss Civic Center Park, Central Park, and the Boulder Creek Pathway only two short blocks south of Pearl St. Included in the Civic Center Park is the City Library which has a large area outside dedicated to children’s activities. For a different generation right up Arapaho Avenue virtually next to the library is a facility dedicated to senior citizens. Nice collection of photos but you did confuse me for a moment with the early 50’s view of Broomfield.
Thanks for watching. I checked for parks multiple times before visiting and was disappointed with the downtown options. There appears to be some really nice parks in Greater Boulder, but all of the downtown parks were small or lacking playground equipment. I didn't mean to be confusing with the Broomfield pics, but there were limited online images of Boulder from the 50s to begin with let alone during construction, so I settled on a nearby community instead. I would love to return to explore Boulder in more depth someday, it was a great city. Thanks for the reply
✊🏻
Excellent quick review of your Top 10. Good idea!
Glad you finally got around to mentioning Grandote Peaks golf course, a true Colorado mountain gem. Wish you could have noted the course accounted for more than 20% of the tourist attraction overnight stays. A big plus for the community and on every well informed Colorado golfer’s bucket list.
Thanks for your video. I was there summer 2023. I’ll go back someday. Thanks.
God, we pray for your loving guidance in all things and places and in the hearts of hearts of all men, women and children In Jesus mighty name. Amen 🙏 🤍
What a gorgeous area
I'd like to visit
Oh guys come on. It was very fun going there. I went there on my birthday in May 11. It was so fun. The slides were the best but it was also in Arizona on my year in 2024, but I actually really wanna go there again because the hotels were the best thing ever I ever slept in so I’m going there on my birthday again. I’m pretty sure because that’s my😊
I hate the fact you put these links over the last part of the video where we can not see your ratings.
I was still developing my method with these earlier videos, and have stopped putting the ranks at the very end. As of right now (Jan '25), Trinidad ranks #15/41. For a full list of recent ratings, please watch our "Ski Lodge Recap" video.
I love Salida.
👍🏻
Very interessing ! We went from 🇫🇷 France in September 2019. Museum was fine. We staid 3 days; too short !
Man I love your videos! Your history is great. You involve your family. Great job!
Thanks, I appreciate your support
Posting this on my California expat group page
Great info! Thanks for putting that together.
God, thank you for deliverance from evil and from wickedness. Thank you for health and healing and for no accidents, injuries and incidents In Jesus mighty name; I pray for salvations and security and thank you God for being our shield and buckler. Thank you for being our strong tower and mighty fortress and refuge In Jesus mighty name. Amen 🙏 🤍
I was just looking at "Return to Normandy/ 75 Anniversary" and heard Private Gremer mentioned from Trinidad, Colorado. So I got curious because I am from the Island of Trinidad and have never known before that there is a place in the US called Trinidad. Then I looked up Trinidad, Colorado on RUclips and was very happy to see the posting and thankful to you for doing so. Happy for the adventure through your eyes! I will be following you on other other journeys. Your presentation is applaudable!❣
Thanks for your support!
I remember when La Junta just had a regular Wal-Mart,.

Excellent presentation that allows your work to be appreciated much better. This summary that you share with us has been a great surprise. Thanks for explaining the reason for your channel name "Ski Lodge". I congratulate you as well as your family members from Guaymas, Sonora, México.
I really appreciate this comment and wish you and your family the best as well! Thanks for watching
Brutal honesty is always appreciated. I'm glad the algorithm led me to your channel. Congrats on the success.
I was a little nervous to post this one. Thanks for the continued support!
TIL : vagrants congregate at state lines. Who knew?
My used to go to one of the family camps in the mountains just outside Wescliffe. I had a scoop of icecream from Grandma's every single summer growing up. Small town, but nice.
Decent work on this one. You hit on a lot of the interesting and fun history of Canon. However, there is much much more! The territorial prison and elks lodge that still exist today were the center points for a hollywood movie made IN Canon City ABOUT Canon City CALLED Canon City. It was about a famous prison break that happened here way back when. Decent little flick. Still on netflix I think. The fed pen south of Florence (near Canon) Once held such infamous characters as John Gotti, Ted Kazinski(unabomber), Timothy Mcvey(oklahoma bomber) and many more wonderful blights of society. All of Canon City sits in a horseshoe shaped bowl from a long long ago extinct lake. This means that all of Canon is sitting on a bed of forever moving and shifting Clay that causes all the infrastructures to crack, shift, sink, rise etc.etc.. From pipes under ground like gas and water and sewage pipes, to housing foundations (no basements here folks!), and all the street. Inncodently one public pool that is now no more. Wanna move here now...? On the south side of town sits the old Cotter mine. There is where uranium and yellow cake were either processed or stored that was the stuff the used in the two bombs that were dropped on Japan. Some time back, there was a big time rain fall and flooding that started washing ALL the content of that place down through town and into the Arkansas River. There a so many mine tunnels under more than half the town that some day.... well. lol I bet you get the picture... Some time shortly after the discovery of all the dinosaur skeletons, bones, and fossils that were mentioned in this video just north of Canon off of Red Canyon Road. There erupted a "Bone War" between two rival factions of would be archeologists. They were so hell bent on the other not getting the notoriety that the other thought they deserved that they sent raids into each others camps to blow up the bones and skeletons etc., with dynamite. Sad day for science there folks. On Skyline drive there are two fun things to look at. The archway entrance off hwy50 is comprised of a stone from every state. On the climb up, look up to your left and you will see dinosaur footprints (triceratops I think). They were discovered by a grade school student in recent times only after decades and decades of people had walked past them not knowing. The St Cloud Hotel (recently renovated and brought back to life), sat vacant, dilapidated, and rotting for years and decades. It was originally brought down to Canon brick by Brick from either westcliffe or silvercliffe( I can not remember which). As you head west on hwy50 out of town. Just before the big turn on the west side of the prison, long ago before hwy50 existed. There used to be a natural spring which the local swore by. The water was pure crystal clear mineral spring water. The small towns folks had built pavilions and a park around it. My wife's grandmother painted a picture of it just before they tore it down for the new highway. That painting is hanging in my living room to this day. A reminder of what we lose for every "progression" forward. Rumors are abound thought that they capped and piped the spring and directed it under the highway to the south somewhere. No one can seem to located it though. The old walls of the pavilions can still be seen on what is now the prisons property. They sit there. A symbol of simpler more healthy times. Presidents would ride through here on there election campaign tours on trains. My wife's grandfather got to see Franklin D. Roosevelt and Harry S. Truman speak from the luxury caboose of a train that stopped in Canon at that old train station (now a bank) at 9th street and hwy50. When you first enter the actual canyon between Canon and Salida from the Canon side, if you look across to the other side of the river just after the bridge that crosses over the river for Martin Marrietta mining operation. you will see the railroad tracks sitting on some sort of stacked concrete block looking things. Well. Those are concrete walls. The remains of very early pueblo. After a huge flood and fire there around the turn of the 1900's that came from up in the mountains near Salida and Canon. They need to repair the railroad tracks that got washed out in that spot, and, well. They just so happened to have a lot of destroyed building just down the road in pueblo. So, there they now lye. Just like in the movies of the old west. There was a man the was hung by a lynch mob here. The man had started his crime adventure in Dry Creek, Colorado just south of Denver. At some point he had found his way down to canon to hide out after killing a man. Then he robbed some more and other nefarious happenings. To which he was jailed, but then broke out of jail and stirred up more trouble and then went on the lamb. They captured him several rail days east in another state and brought him back here. The very first night that he was held in the county jailhouse, a lynch mob showed up. They beat the hell out of the sheriff and his son then dragged the guy kicking and screaming out into the streets where they hung him from a light post around 2nd and main street as a warning to other "tourists." Still a very time honored tradition in the hearts of every "true" local. Ye be warned! It's fun to mess with the tourists here. During the tourist season, the locals are burdened by the world. So to help us deal with so many wild animals, we tell them fun stuff like, This is the only river in the world that runs uphill. Or... "You're going rafting. Awesome! You're going to have such fun! Just watch out for them fresh water piranha!" The Royal Gorge Bridge is a hot spot for "jumpers." The staff there are always watching for those folks that take there shoes off. Telltale sign for some reason. The moral here is, come visit. But leave your ways back there. Be kind and mind your manners. If you come here causing grief or trouble, you'll never leave. We will smear honey on you and duct tape your naked ass to a tree in the woods, then walk away... enjoy😄
Thank you for the additional information that helps fill in the gaps! Cañon City is a great place, one of our favorites
Love the video!!! Born and raised in this beautiful town and i LOVE it here!!!!
This channel is awesome please keep them coming
There’s free parking lot for Clear Creek and walking around about four or five blocks from downtown just north east of Coors
Thank you so much! Nice place. We will wait for your next trip, the #40/100, the last of 2024. Congratulations!
its not the same as the Carribean Islands that also have this name lol
It's funny that I run across your video I used to stay in Rocky Ford for a short period of time while I was pregnant. It was nice learning about the history. The only thing I could say is incorrect is when the video store closed. It was still open back in 2013. I'm assuming it closed down right when covid hit. I used to love visiting the video store it was very nostalgic.
ok it looks like maybe I can afford downtown Fountain...
Morrison is a good stop after enjoying the many nearby hiking trails. Dinosaur ridge, to the north, is well known for having dinosaur footprints and bone fossils in situ. Lair O' The Bear to the west provides a cool walk along shady Bear Creek. Mt. Falcon, to the southwest has marvelous views of Denver and the eastern plains. It also has the lonely cornerstone that marks a failed scheme to build a "Summer Whitehouse" for the President of the USA. Bear Creek Reservoir, east of Morrison, is popular for biking and fishing.
We did not get to see downtown at all and was looking forward to what gives just showing some houses?
this is your worst vid you did not show fountain downtown at all
South Fork/Delnorte area is pretty. Wolf creek is quiet but pretty. All of southern colorado and Northern NM is amazing
