I'm shocked that Elias Garcia is wearing glasses and not goggles (not even safety glasses) when he's cutting the fiberglass. I've worn safety glasses when grinding under cars and still had shavings and shit work around them and get in my eyes.

Yikes !! - Stainless steel with aluminium ???? WHAT !

Thanks for watching Jim. Airmar makes stainless steel transducer housings specifically for aluminum hull vessels because aluminum and stainless steel are a closer galvanic match to each other. Bronze transducers should never be mounted in an aluminum hull. Here is a snippet from Airmar’s Guide to Transducer Technology -
"Bronze thru-hull housings cannot be used in aluminum and stainless steel boats. The interaction between the metal hull and the bronze transducer, especially in the presence of salt water, will eat away the metal hull and/or the bronze housing."

@@FurunoMarineElectronics Yes that is correct. However the rule is that one never puts SS up against aluminium as there is a reaction between the two dissimilar materials. SS usually becomes welded to the aluminium. I will need to look into this as I do want to install the DFF3D transducer
