Yes, "used to be." I remember writing a screenplay similar to "Free Willy" but as sad as "E.T,", but with a happy ending and my manager said I needed to change it because it was too sad. -- Magical experience sounds about right! (:

"This is not a kids' movie" - is the most spot-on authentic reaction. E.T. is NOT a kids' movie. It's a masterpiece. It's an American classic. An art film. People take this film for granted as a kids' movie, or a "family film" - it is MUCH better than that.
That scene with Elliot and ET dying was once known as the most emotional scene in movie history. The audition for Elliot was so real that it made people cry.
Hi there, yes, I can see why the dying ET scene was known for being the most emotional. It was indeed heartbreaking. Btw, I did see Elliot's audition on RUclips. Great stuff! Thanks for watching! (:
@41:50 Talk about perfect timing with the score! This was every kid's talking point and dream after this movie. We all rode our bikes until the street lamps came on at night pretending we could fly on our bikes.
I remember my mother getting "sneak preview" tickets to a screening. We went as a family and had to sit in completely separate areas of the theater because of crowded seating. I was 11 years old and was, of course, gut punched with the death scene. The joy from the rest of the movie, however, was epic and a lifetime memory. I'll always remember the entire theater giving a standing ovation with loud applause. It was the first standing ovation I witnessed in person as a genuine reaction. FANTASTIC REACTION! THANK YOU
I remember reading about the audience in a movie theater in Paris giving the movie a emotional standing ovation right at the end and even before the credits started rolling. Unheard in France, you knew this would be an instant classic when it touched so many people around the world
40 years later, this movie still hits this Gen X kid right where it counts. Y'all's reactions were so pure and beautiful i cried all over again. Thank you two.
The first movie in theaters me and my siblings saw. We did not even know what a theater was untill we came to the U.S. we were just elementary kids, this is why now as adults my siblings and I still find the movie theater a magical place and E.T. will always be special to us.
I saw this in the theater opening weekend and most of the adults were in tears. Thank you for actually showing emotion, other reactors try to hide their feelings and it is so refreshing to see such an honest reaction.
This was my favorite movie reaction so far. I went to the theater to see this movie when I was 6 years old and the range of emotions I went through as a little kid, still holds true to today.
I love how you get emotional Mike, I love a man with a big heart , and every time you start tearing up, I do also ☺️ It's so authentic and that's what I love! Jessica congrats on your award, can't wait to see your movie, you look beautiful today 😉🥰
All these years later ET is still an amazing movie. It's warm, but also wickedly funny and creepy in some parts. Steven Spielberg knew how to find that balance. Oh, yeah and what a score by the maestro John Williams. The soundtrack won an Oscar, deservedly.
I saw this 11 times in the theater when this came out and the first time I saw my Dad cry at a movie was at E.T.. When I watch reactions to it I get such a kick when reactors make comments like “Who’s got eyes on those kids?” or “All the kids are expert bike riders.”. Mainly cause I’m like “Yeah. That was childhood.”. We all had so much freedom to go and do whatever we wanted when not in school. We all rode bikes all the time and many days would ride miles away from home with no cell phones or internet, just doing whatever until evening almost every day. I don’t often talk about “the good old days”, but thats one aspect of our childhood that I think is a shame that kids don’t have today.
Yes, you're making some good points. Although I grew up in Switzerland, my memories are similar regarding freedom and being gone until evening. Amazing how things changed. (:
Yup. We ALL had BMX bikes back in the 80s and we could ride like fiends. This movie brings back so many wonderful memories and is a great window into Gen-X childhood. I mean, Spielberg with John Williams scores are a huge part of that.
When this first came out, EVERYONE cried. It didn't matter what age you were. There were tough men sobbing at what happened to E.T. It's always been my favourite movie, ever since I first saw it when I was eleven.
Thank you both for your kindness. I saw this in theaters when I was 11 and to say I was emotionally overwhelmed back then is an understatement. To me, this is what movie magic was all about.
This is 100% a kids movie, or at least what they used to be, especially in the 80s. They weren't always dumbed down and had real consequences and dealt with emotional issues. Go watch "The Never Ending Story," or "Bambi," or any number of older Disney animated films like "The Fox and the Hound." Every kid I knew saw and loved E.T. the year it was released. I actually just watched it again at a drive-in theater a few weeks ago as a retro-night double-feature with "The Goonies."
What I love about this movie, and a lot of movies from this era, is that they didn't hold back. I know this makes me sound like an old man, but movies today don't respect the fact that kids can understand deeper concepts and ideas -- especially when they are to do with FEELING things.
It’s hard to believe it’s been 42yrs ago that this came out. What a classic. Definitely gets you in the feels. I cry every time. Ty Mike and Jessica. Congrats on your best actress award for Unnamed. Can’t wait to see it! ❤🇨🇦🇺🇸- ❤BMR - #1
Can't wait to watch your reaction tonight. I was born in East Germany and E.T. was one of the few western movies that were allowed to play in cinema. I watched it like 20 times as a kid.
Mike and Jessica! I became a new subscriber a couple days back. Love the reactions, and love you both! October is around the corner so I hope to see some more spooky movies! Much love, health, and happiness to you both, and thank you for the wonderful reactions. (And the wonderful afterthoughts by Mike!)
Hello Kelen Heller!! I have to plead ignorance on your amazing "Super Thanks" posting. I've never seen a highlighted posting like this and I didn't know what that "Dollar Heart" really meant. I thought it was just some "icon" people use. Anyway, it stuck in my mind the whole time and now I finally had time to come back to it to investigate further. I had no idea that this was our first "SUPER THANKS!!" I'm sorry I didn't respond to this more enthusiastically, but I never thought anybody would be so generous. Anyway, we wanted to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your support and your generosity. I think we're recording a new video tomorrow, so we will most definitely give you a special shoutout! Rock on, buddy!! AND THANK YOU SO MUCH!! (:
@@BossMovieReactions Kelen Heller is my band, but you can call me Efrum, (Rhymes with CHEF-rum) or you can call me E.F. Proud to be your first "Super Thanks". Much love, health, and happiness to you two, and you're most welcome!

I cried with you guys with this reaction, it's a very emotional film, I remember watching it when i was younger for the first with my mum & we teared up many times.
@@BossMovieReactions Spielberg NEVER shies away from the emotional stuff. John Williams then adds to that emotion by adding emotional music! You’d have to be a stone not to get emotional. Peter Coyote played the main scientist. He’s been in many good films. Sphere, jagged edge ( Jeff bridges and Glenn close), outrageous fortune (Bette middler& Shelly long), great reaction!!
You guys are the best! You understand that you don't have to react to every second of the movie. Plus, it's a glorious sight to see two grown adults that aren't afraid to show emotions. We need more people like you two in this crazy world of ours!
We saw this when it hit theaters back then, E.T. was huge. Had a video game, a box cereal, a lot of odds and ends. The part near the end with E.T., I was one of those that got choked up, it looked like the outcome wasn't going to be a positive one. Spielberg proving once again how much of a genius he was and is. Glad you two enjoyed it.
@@IAMCAVE Yep, I had it on my 2600. It was so bad I never finished it. That and Raiders of the Lost Ark were two of their worst games. That wasn’t what the post was regarding. It was about how popular E.T. was, in case you missed that part.
@@IAMCAVEThat's exaggerated urban legend. Yes there were cartridges thrown in a landfill... But along with thousands of other Atari games and acessories. The whole game industry crashed so all of the unsold stock was thrown out.
Wish I knew you two in person because your so friendly and natural / relaxed and Genuine. I always wished they would make a sequel to this movie. Its so moving.
Aw, that's such a nice thing to say! Thank you for that, Jean! Btw, I talk a bit about the sequel in my "Afterthoughts" video, at the end: ruclips.net/video/JzloG70rBFo/видео.htmlsi=g0binqTrRZfjRqna
This IS a kids movie! Children are aware of life & death - shielding them too much diminishes their emotional & intellectual growth. We played out ALL DAY & experienced stuff that stands us in good stead.
Thanks guys watching your compassion for this wonderful creature Is beautiful. The heartwarming bond between Elliott and E.T. It’s so touching. Thanks for sharing your hearts with us. E.T., What a character. And idea for a movie and wish more alien movies would go back to peaceful and curious kinds rather then end us all kinds. Again beautiful film and top Favorite of mine still. As are you reactors. Thanks again.
I remember VH-1's "I Love the 80s" had this to say about E.T.: "There are movies that make you cry, and there are movies where you're wrecked for the week."
I bought a copy of ET for my daughter who wasn't born yet. My grandchildren and my daughter were sobbing! At the end they all applauded. This Gem is from a movie master who never ceases to please! Thank you for uploading it.
This is one of my favorite movies and I’ve seen quite some people watching it for the first time, but as a reaction to it, yours instantly jumped on the first place, way ahead of all others … thank you. I was thinking - if this was your reaction to E.T. then you should seriously prepare in advance for “The Green Mile” when you’ll get to it - one box of tissues for each of you won’t be enough … trust me. You’re indeed the best reactors out there, every single person who discovers your channel observes that instantly and I congratulate them too … but above that, huge congratulations to Jessica for that awesome award. Looking forward to your next reaction, guys. A fat “thumbs up” and warm salutations from your Romanian brother …
Hello to our beloved Romanian brother! Thank you so much for your heartwarming comments. We appreciate you! And a big "thank you" from Jessica as well. Much love to you from the Bosses! (:
EXCELLENT reaction, both of you!! In your opening you read a comment that said that you don't talk thru the whole movie like other reactors do - there's this one reactor that opens her videos with a recap and narration of the movie and then annoyingly talks thru the movie she's "reacting" to...... You two got right into it and respectfully observed and enjoyed it! I digress.... This is actually my favorite movie of all time and your reaction to it is 👌
I was 13 back in 1982 and believe me my friends, this was major. Seems the whole world was caught up in it and simply fell in love with ET. The message of universal love brought audiences together, the film itself played in the same theater for 3 months where I lived they were that sold out. Merchandise skyrocketed, albums, books, toys, Reese's Pieces stock itself went through the roof. It was a wonderful time to be a kid. One of the other stars of the film would have to be John Williams incredible score. He has the ability to take your emotions to the lowest sadness and in a minute slingshot you back to laughter and joy. The last 10 minutes of the film music itself is almost religious as he says goodbye. Anyway probably the most genuine reaction I've seen to this film to date, subscribed, I am a fan guys😊
Aw, thank you so much for your kind words, and thanks for sharing your experience, and, of course, thanks for subscribing! We appreciate it! Cheers! (:
Such a great 80s movie. Packs of kids in the streets riding bikes, being at friend's houses, etc. - brings back memories of the time I was a kid. Nice to see an alien movie that isn't abt fear & war. Nice to see an alien who was scared & vulnerable (instead of aggressive invaders). How wld any of use feel left in an alien environment? ET was a great movie for kids w/a great message. Also, a family movie. Nice to watch a family movie & not feel hit over the head w/politics & social stuff. Movies w/o "all that" are refreshing. Stuff parents & kids can watch together w/o anyone getting uncomfortable are nice. As a Dad, I enjoyed showing ET to my daughter when she was little. She loved it. U2 are SO great. I always enjoy your reactions. You're a genuine couple!
Hi there, thank you so much for your kind words, we appreciate it. I also agree with everything you have written. I think you would really like my "Afterthoughts" video as well, if you like: ruclips.net/video/JzloG70rBFo/видео.htmlsi=5jMxuPj199YYSSqS
That was a beautiful reaction. I watched ET at the cinema as a very young child, and I don't think there was a dry eye in the audience. I remember joining the ET fan club after seeing it; They sent a parcel containing the sountrack on vinyl, a poster, colour photo, and membership certificate. I guess I'm still a member 😂 You should react to Henry Thomas auditioning for the part of Elliott; It's truly magical.
You guys are so enjoyable to watch such a great couple I really wish respectfully of course you guys would do more movie reactions because I've really enjoyed watching them with you too so very much you're both very much appreciated thank you.
Hi Allen, thank you so much for your kind words. Yes, we wish we could do more reactions as well, but creating one video takes over 40 hours on average, so it's tough to even do ONE video a week. Thanks for watching! (:
@@BossMovieReactions wow I didn't realize so much was involved much appreciated I do anticipate when you both come out with a movie reaction keep up the great work 💯
@@glasserallen Yeah, the process can be quite elaborate, especially regarding editing and passing the RUclips copyright process, which can be extremely difficult. A few seconds too much footage or a few seconds too much sound and you can't upload it. I think I created about 23 different versions of "Tommy Boy" before I was able to release it. And then sometimes the company jumps in 2-3 weeks later and blocks the entire video. Anyway, we'll try our best. Thanks for watching! (:
Aw, thank you so much! I'll pass it on to Jessica. We're actually at the stage where we deliver the "deliverables" to a distribution outlet. So the movie should be available in a couple of months or so. THANK YOU! (:
ET healing Elliott‘s finger… „why can he do that?“ -„He‘s an extraterrestrial“ -- „They do that?“ (If we only knew…..but they do when the script says so, I guess) That really made me smile intensely! I always thought I am the naive one, still being child in my heart…. But alas, not alone anymore🤭😀 Thanks guys, charming as always. It was great fun to join you rewatching it! Mike from 🇩🇪 Edit: Some years later, Spielberg hated his decision to let the cops carry shotguns at all. (It is unforgivable though, guns against unarmed, harmless kids?) So he had it digitally edited in post much later and changed the guns to radios….
Haha, yeah, I guess "they can do that." Lol. So often, our answer is "because the script says so." Thanks for watching along. Yes, I read about Spielberg changing the guns, etc. but later he had second thoughts again and changed it all back. Cheers! (:
I remember the late 70s, early 80s. We all lived on our bicycles. Always told to go out and play, we would ride for miles as long as we were home for dinner. Doing wheelies, big jumps, riding through fields, was all part of daily fun. Of course, nobody had video games yet.
Reese's Pieces had been on the market for five years before they were used in E.T. So they weren't so new, but of course, much newer than M&M's, which had first come out in 1941.
It certainly is a Kids Movie.., An 80’s kids movie…, we were made of stronger stuff back then, & we rode our BMX bike’s everywhere with our friends, as long as we were home for dinner ❣️ This movie did have some very sad moments.., it helped teach us kids how to face grief, & how to cope & deal with the death of a friend or loved one. It’s a Master piece alright! Great reaction guys, enjoyed watching it with you xx & yes I also needed the tissues, that’s the whole point. Not many mainstream blockbusters move us emotionally this way anymore. This was Spielberg 1st mega hit, that set him up for life & he was able to establish his production company, Amblin Entertainment ( which the company logo is ET & Elliot, riding across the moon in silhouette 😊
Hi Laurie, yes, you make some great points, everything from "made of stronger stuff" to "BMX" to "how to cope" to "today's movies" etc. You nailed it. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. (:
You're acting as if _Jaws_ , _Close Encounters of the 3rd Kind_ , and _Raiders of the Lost Ark_ were not megahits. _Jaws_ is the film that set Spielberg up for life.
This is not [only] a kids' movie. E.T. is a 'family' film. The 'family' genre is, sadly, now an endangered species but it was abundant throughout the 80s and my childhood in the 90s. ❤
You got to see SUMMER OF 42 sometime soon. Jennifer O'Neill is in it and she plays the older Momma Reagan in the new biopic starring Dennis Quaid and Penelope-Ann Miller. Summer of 42 is a classic worth a watch and a reaction. Great reactions as always Mike and Jessica! We love you here! ET was classic - most videos have the guns edited out though in the end. I love that they did the anniversary video where ET comes back and Elliot introduces him to his family.
Thanks, I just added SUMMER OF 42 to our list. I saw the Reagan biopic about a year ago at a private screening (they were asking for feedback). Also, I've read about editing the guns out, but they ultimately put them back in. Saw the commercial. Great! And thanks for the kind words! (:
Saw this when I was 12, ‘Raiders of the Lost Arc’ the year before. I thought movies just don’t get much better 😊 Have seen a lot of great movies over the years but I wasn’t far off.
Before starting this reaction channel I watched some of the newer movies. Maybe 1 or 2 out of 10 were good... Seems like the 90s was a fantastic year! Looking forward to more... (:
Wow. I had seen this as a kid but that was the last I saw it and I 100% did not remember it being THIS heart-wrenching. Oh my God... so many heart-crushing and heart-warming parts. Did I repress memories of this movie?! Yikes! 🤣
Henry Thomas who played Elliot can be seen as an adult in Legends of the Fall with Brad Pitt and Anthony Hopkins Also in All the Pretty Horses with Matt Damon Both films I’d love to see you guys react to ✌️
Hi Paul, yeah, so many people mentioned seeing this movie when they were children, sometimes as young as 5 years!! That must have been quite a dramatic experience. Good thing it had a happy ending! ((:
What is so brilliant about this movie is how deftly Spielberg handles the tonal shifts from mysterious and a little scary at the beginning to comical, almost sit-com, events in the middle, to quite heavy and traumatic stuff when E.T. "dies", and then joyful escapism with the kids rescuing him and, finally, both sad and uplifting at the end. He takes the situation seriously, even while having a lot of fun with it, and because he believes in the story he is telling, so does the audience. It is only by going to the dark places that the "resurrection" at the end feels genuinely cathartic and life affirming.
Spielberg and Williams have scared you with Jaws. Then made you cry with another masterpiece. Recommend their other works: Jurassic Park, Schindler’s List, Minority Report, and Catch Me If You Can.
This movie holds a very special place in my heart. I was 5 when it came out. I absolutely was amazed by this movie. It was sweet and sad and magical. I also had an ET stuffed animal 😍 I also remember when it came out on VHS! It was an event !! 😂
@@BossMovieReactions yes ! My paw paw took me to see it at the theatre. He always took me to the movies, that was our “thing”. I loved going to the movies with him 💜💜
You recognized Drew Barrymore, but did you notice that Eliot is played by Henry Thomas, who also went on to be a very successful actor. Also, congratulations Jessica, your award is well deserved.
I'm not too familiar with Henry Thomas, but I saw that he's in "Legends of the Fall", another movie I'd like to see. And a "thank you" from Jessica! (:
This film was all about a child's perspective of these events, and Spielberg did that masterfully. A lot like Stephen King tends to do. Maybe that's the essence of being a great creative artist... Knowing how to put yourself back into your child-like brain, cause obviously we can all relate to how crazy our imaginations were as children. It's pretty tragic how that fades as we age. Great reaction! Grats Jess!
I've seen this movie probably 50 or more times in my life so far, first time being when I was 10 years old in the movie theatre when it was released and I still cry like a baby every time. :)
i remember watching this when it came out, it was time of the video recorder era, this was the first pirate copy film i ever watched on video, my friend at the time got a copy, watched it at his place,
When this movie came out, my daughter was 5 and wanted to see it like everyone else. I love her but she was a little hellion, LOL, and I hated science fiction but 2 years later passing from 1st grade to 2nd, she was an honor roll student (stayed like that till graduation). Well, ET movie made a comeback at our local theatre so I felt she deserved it and I would just have to put up with it. Turned out to be nothing like I thought and became one of my most favorite movies of all time. Moreover, it taught me (I thought I already knew) "Don't judge, accept." This movie taught me to just check out things I might wouldn't have before. I loved your reaction. Please carry on!
Saw it with my best friend, senior year in high school. The theater was sold out, many families and children. There was very young child, a toddler, whose reactions consisted of ooh's and aah's at the beginning and middle. Come the real sad parts, this young child "understood" ET had died. Now, it was hard enough trying not to cry with my best friend sitting next to me. Everyone around us was overcome with emotion. My friend later declared not liking ET because it manipulated your emotions. I agreed, but, the manipulation worked for me. They truly don't make em like this anymore.
Hi Edward, an interesting statement about "not liking ET because it manipulated emotions." Well, that's what movies are supposed to do, no? (-: Thanks for sharing!
I saw this in the theater in 1982 when it was not yet on full release and this was the only movie I ever went to where the entire audience gave it a standing ovation throughout the credits.
As a kid who grew up in the 80s and 90s I can confirm that we boys are pretty much all experienced bike riders, especially in our own neighborhoods because we knew the layout.
@@BossMovieReactions I loved your 2 reactions by the way. This movie used to always make my mom cry when I was a kid, and as I grew older, it would make my eyes well. Now, as an adult, I full on cry, like Mike, and in this case, with Mike.
When ET came out as a ride at Disneyland. My family was there for the opening and the lines were ridiculously long. When we got to the booth having conversations with the man working there, we told him what my brothers name was (which is Elliott) and then told him our last name. So his initials are ET… he was so excited about it he literally took us to the front of the line and told the other employees to let us on the next round. So many memories of this movie. I believe the movie “Poltergeist” was being filmed at the same time of this movie in the same neighborhood kinda
Walensee here! Another great reaction to another classic film! Congrats on the award Jessica. Hope to see the film someday soon. As I was watching this reaction, another 80's alien film came to mind that I promise you would enjoy too. It's called "Starman" & stars Jeff Bridges & Karen Allen (The girl from "Raiders of the lost ark") and is directed by John Carpenter. Check it out. It's a unique story.
It was wonderful to watch your reactions to this movie. I am in tears again like I was as a kid. There is a commercial made long one where E.T returns and meet adult Elliot and his family. Please react to that clip too. Lots of love from Finland.

All these years later ET is still an amazing movie. It's warm, but also wickedly funny and creepy in some parts. Steven Spielberg knew how to find that balance. Oh, yeah and what a score by the maestro John Williams. The soundtrack won an Oscar, deservedly.
Yes, this was and is an amazing movie. Writing, acting, score, etc.!! (:
That's great! The power of movies! Thanks for sharing! (:
When this first came out, EVERYONE cried. It didn't matter what age you were. There were tough men sobbing at what happened to E.T. It's always been my favourite movie, ever since I first saw it when I was eleven.
Hard to imagine seeing this film at 11 years old. Fantastic movie! (:
I saw this in the theater when it first came out. During the death scene, there was a big, burly biker-type dude behind us, just bawling his eyes out!
Thank you both for your kindness. I saw this in theaters when I was 11 and to say I was emotionally overwhelmed back then is an understatement. To me, this is what movie magic was all about.
Yeah, I can only imagine seeing this at 11 years old. Movie magic indeed! (:
This is 100% a kids movie, or at least what they used to be, especially in the 80s. They weren't always dumbed down and had real consequences and dealt with emotional issues. Go watch "The Never Ending Story," or "Bambi," or any number of older Disney animated films like "The Fox and the Hound." Every kid I knew saw and loved E.T. the year it was released. I actually just watched it again at a drive-in theater a few weeks ago as a retro-night double-feature with "The Goonies."
Yeah, kids weren't cuddled so much back then. We had stronger kids! Drive-in sounds fun! (:
What I love about this movie, and a lot of movies from this era, is that they didn't hold back. I know this makes me sound like an old man, but movies today don't respect the fact that kids can understand deeper concepts and ideas -- especially when they are to do with FEELING things.
I think that's a good point. (:
Congratulations Jessica on your award! 👏🏼👏🏼
THANK YOU!! (:
Another 80's classic you might like, 1985's "Cocoon" with Brian Dennehy, and Cocoon 2: The Return.
Thanks, I didn't know that there were two. I added the second one. Thx! (:
It’s hard to believe it’s been 42yrs ago that this came out. What a classic. Definitely gets you in the feels. I cry every time. Ty Mike and Jessica. Congrats on your best actress award for Unnamed. Can’t wait to see it! ❤🇨🇦🇺🇸- ❤BMR - #1

Loved yalls reaction, i remember seeing this in theaters as a kid and it destroyed me i really miss movies like this and the magic they brought us.
Thank you!! Yeah, this really was a magical movie!! (:
Can't wait to watch your reaction tonight. I was born in East Germany and E.T. was one of the few western movies that were allowed to play in cinema. I watched it like 20 times as a kid.
My first girlfriend in Switzerland was from East Germany. Enjoy the movie tonight! (:
The ET score was composed by John Williams
Yes, and he did a fantastic job! (:
Mike and Jessica! I became a new subscriber a couple days back. Love the reactions, and love you both!

I cried with you guys with this reaction, it's a very emotional film, I remember watching it when i was younger for the first with my mum & we teared up many times.
Yeah, I couldn't believe how emotional it was. And I'm so thankful that it had a happy ending! (:
@@BossMovieReactions Spielberg NEVER shies away from the emotional stuff. John Williams then adds to that emotion by adding emotional music! You’d have to be a stone not to get emotional. Peter Coyote played the main scientist. He’s been in many good films. Sphere, jagged edge ( Jeff bridges and Glenn close), outrageous fortune (Bette middler& Shelly long), great reaction!!
@@Anaj-us4eo Yes, agreed, you’d have to be a stone not to get emotional! (:
You guys are the best! You understand that you don't have to react to every second of the movie. Plus, it's a glorious sight to see two grown adults that aren't afraid to show emotions. We need more people like you two in this crazy world of ours!
Aw, thank you so much for your kind words, Eric, we appreciate it! Cheers! (:
We saw this when it hit theaters back then, E.T. was huge. Had a video game, a box cereal, a lot of odds and ends. The part near the end with E.T., I was one of those that got choked up, it looked like the outcome wasn't going to be a positive one. Spielberg proving once again how much of a genius he was and is. Glad you two enjoyed it.
Yes, we did enjoy that movie very much. We were very surprised at how emotional it was. Fantastic film! (:
The video game was so bad that caches of the cartridge were found buried in the desert. Considered THE WORST video game ever!
@@IAMCAVE Yep, I had it on my 2600. It was so bad I never finished it. That and Raiders of the Lost Ark were two of their worst games.
That wasn’t what the post was regarding. It was about how popular E.T. was, in case you missed that part.
My mom made me an ET costume for Halloween.
@@IAMCAVEThat's exaggerated urban legend. Yes there were cartridges thrown in a landfill... But along with thousands of other Atari games and acessories. The whole game industry crashed so all of the unsold stock was thrown out.

I wish they’d done a part 2 as well. The commercials they did about a yr ago where cute though
This IS a kids movie! Children are aware of life & death - shielding them too much diminishes their emotional & intellectual growth. We played out ALL DAY & experienced stuff that stands us in good stead.
Yes, kids weren't cuddled as much as today! We had stronger kids back then. Nowadays they're worried about their pronouns! (:
Thanks guys watching your compassion for this wonderful creature Is beautiful. The heartwarming bond between Elliott and E.T. It’s so touching. Thanks for sharing your hearts with us. E.T., What a character. And idea for a movie and wish more alien movies would go back to peaceful and curious kinds rather then end us all kinds. Again beautiful film and top Favorite of mine still. As are you reactors. Thanks again.
Yes, a wonderful creature indeed and a wonderful movie! Thanks for watching along with us! (:
I remember VH-1's "I Love the 80s" had this to say about E.T.: "There are movies that make you cry, and there are movies where you're wrecked for the week."
Yeah, this movie was intense and beautiful! (:
Your reaction and comments about "E.T." wee wonderful. What an amazing movie!!

Hello Anett, yes, I couldn't believe how sad it was, but thankfully it had a happy ending! Grüsse nach Deutschland! (:
I bought a copy of ET for my daughter who wasn't born yet. My grandchildren and my daughter were sobbing! At the end they all applauded. This Gem is from a movie master who never ceases to please! Thank you for uploading it.
Yes, this was incredibly well-made. Everything from story to writing to acting and soundtrack, etc. (:
This is actually my favorite movie of all time and your reaction to it is 👌
Aw, thank you so much for your encouraging words! We appreciate it! (:
This was my favorite movie as a kid❤❤❤beautiful ❤❤❤its the first movie I ever saw in the theater ❤❤❤
Hi Marlaina, yeah, what a fantastic movie!! We loved it! Thanks for watching it with us! (:
Hi from Alberta Canada 🇨🇦🫶😊, I remember seeing this asa child and never gets old cause I still watch it to this day even with my children too.
Yeah, this really seems like a movie one can watch over and over again! Greetings to Alberta, Canada! (:

Yeah, this was quite an emotional movie. We definitely didn't expect that. Thanks for watching along! (:
That was a beautiful reaction.
I watched ET at the cinema as a very young child, and I don't think there was a dry eye in the audience.
I remember joining the ET fan club after seeing it; They sent a parcel containing the sountrack on vinyl, a poster, colour photo, and membership certificate. I guess I'm still a member 😂
You should react to Henry Thomas auditioning for the part of Elliott; It's truly magical.
Thanks for sharing your experience. ET fan club sounds fun. I did see Henry's audition, so amazing! (:

@@glasserallen Yeah, the process can be quite elaborate, especially regarding editing and passing the RUclips copyright process, which can be extremely difficult. A few seconds too much footage or a few seconds too much sound and you can't upload it. I think I created about 23 different versions of "Tommy Boy" before I was able to release it. And then sometimes the company jumps in 2-3 weeks later and blocks the entire video. Anyway, we'll try our best. Thanks for watching! (:

ET and his fellows are alien horticulturists
Yes! Horticulturists are professionals who use their knowledge of botany and agriculture to grow and maintain plants. (:
ET healing Elliott‘s finger… „why can he do that?“ -„He‘s an extraterrestrial“ -- „They do that?“
(If we only knew…..but they do when the script says so, I guess) That really made me smile intensely! I always thought I am the naive one, still being child in my heart…. But alas, not alone anymore🤭😀
Thanks guys, charming as always. It was great fun to join you rewatching it! Mike from 🇩🇪
Edit: Some years later, Spielberg hated his decision to let the cops carry shotguns at all.
Cheers! (:
Reese's Pieces were released in conjunction with the movie. They were a new type of peanut butter candy, designed to compete with M&M's.
I remember the late 70s, early 80s. We all lived on our bicycles. Always told to go out and play, we would ride for miles as long as we were home for dinner. Doing wheelies, big jumps, riding through fields, was all part of daily fun. Of course, nobody had video games yet.
Yeah, M&M's (Mars) said no to the gig and Reese's sales increased by 300%. (:
Sounds like fun!! (:
Reese's Pieces had been on the market for five years before they were used in E.T. So they weren't so new, but of course, much newer than M&M's, which had first come out in 1941.

Hello Val Jean, thanks for your kind words and thanks for becoming a new follower. We appreciate it!
When I was 9, I saw this movie in the movie theater 13 times!! My parents hated me..lolololol

Well said, Peter. You nailed it! Thanks for watching and sharing! (:
Spielberg and Williams have scared you with Jaws. Then made you cry with another masterpiece. Recommend their other works: Jurassic Park, Schindler’s List, Minority Report, and Catch Me If You Can.

Grats Jess!
Hello Handyman, yes, you're making a good point. And "thanks" from Jess! (:

When this movie came out, my daughter was 5 and wanted to see it like everyone else. I love her but she was a little hellion, LOL, and I hated science fiction but 2 years later passing from 1st grade to 2nd, she was an honor roll student (stayed like that till graduation). Well, ET movie made a comeback at our local theatre so I felt she deserved it and I would just have to put up with it.
I saw this TEN TIMES at the theater. Cried my eyes out every time.

It's called "Starman" & stars Jeff Bridges & Karen Allen (The girl from "Raiders of the lost ark") and is directed by John Carpenter. Check it out. It's a unique story.
Thank you, Walensee!! I just checked our list and "Starman" is already on our list! Thx! (:
I was 6 when this came out. I remember going to the theater to watch it with my mom, sister, cousin and aunt.
Wow, a heavy movie for a six-year-old. (:
It was wonderful to watch your reactions to this movie. I am in tears again like I was as a kid. There is a commercial made long one where E.T returns and meet adult Elliot and his family. Please react to that clip too. Lots of love from Finland.
Thanks for watching along. I'll check out that commercial. Greetings to Finland! (:
@@BossMovieReactions Thank you so much! Commercial is called E.T. and me - A Holiday Reunion. It's very well made.
