If I remember correctly the gearbox mount isn’t too bad to do, loosen the two gearbox bolts, jack up under gearbox to clear mount, then it’s only two bolts to swap it, lower gearbox back onto it and tighten.

Thanks for that! Good to know

... but not to easy either. I remember drilling holes in the bulkhead for easy access to the bolts. A tin plate and Parker screws keep the nose out ( In the days that I bought a 2cv for about €125 every two years to replace the worn out one)

Did you jack up under your suspension arms when you greased the king pins ?

No recollection. Sorry. I no longer have the car. Now living in France

Excellent work! I have some advice on the fuel leak though. Mine used to do that for a while and I just put up with it, until eventually the engine cut out on an uphill and I was stranded. Called a specialist to help me the next day and he correctly identified it as a perished hose. Specifically, the short black rubber hose that you have at 2:45. Apparently it's a fault that's exasperated by long uphills and I still don't really understand why. Replaced that though and I haven't had an issue since. Yours looks good in the video, but I can't quite see the underside so maybe you've got cracks in it that you're unaware of.

Thanks Alfie. Yea I replaced that short piece of hose though, so I can't imagine it's that. It's so weird. I almost think it's a vent hole in the pipe that maybe I hadn't noticed. I've just accepted that I shouldn't try to fill it to the top.

@@corrieb74 That's too bad, still though, it's a pleasure watching someone getting into 2cvs, once you've got some confidence in them you can drive them anywhere. They're a very relaxing distance cruiser if you don't mind deafening noise, backache, vibration and a slow but constant depletion of your mental faculties. Looking forward to more videos!

The leak maybe caused by a perished rubber hose that links the filling tube to the fuel tank. My dyane had it when I bought it, and I solved it changing the hose.

Wait a minute... at 11:28 it reads 38510 km and at 11:43 it reads 38495. Then at 13:02 it's back to 38515. Hmmm... sequence of the video cut error or something?

Heh well spotted! I took the car out, filled it up and then when I got back realized I'd forgotten to record a "I'm leaving now" clip :) Need to employ a continuity director. Also I fixed the speedo first. It's not in perfect chronological order

@@corrieb74 Guess I was lucky to catch it. BTW, love the 2CV, may need to find one soon, was my first car in 1976, in red, old but so much fun. What ever happened to it?

All stuff imported in GB had to have "made in..." at the time. Made in Germany was also common.
The government counted on the nationalistic feel of the Brits to boost the local economy. The result was that they bought German for the better quality. Would you like a Austin Allegro?
