The decor in this home is extremely comforting. I completely agree that massive furniture in large rooms is horrible. I much prefer smaller, more intimate seating areas. So much more homey. Thank you for this wonderful home tour!

This is a beautiful home. It looks like a home should look. Furnishings and art should be acquired over the years and not in bulk at a big box store. Each room has a personality. I have always admired her work and it's great to see her home. I'm glad she shared it with us.

@@Schumacher1889 Thanks so much. I worked in the NY design field. This home is so personal, relaxed, yet stunning. LOVE the fabrics! I have kept and enjoyed the samples over the years. Everything about it is warm and wonderful. So many beautiful things and a lovely hostess. Even the patio is natural (Not over done) relaxed, llovely and so pretty. I really enjoyed this one. We need more! 😘

Before I'm done observing every little detail I will have watched this video 27,000 times! Cathy, your home is just SO SO pretty. One of my personal decorating rules is that every seat, wherever possible, should be comfortable and have good lighting and a place to set a book and a mug or glass. You have achieved this elegantly.

A lot of the fabric is Indian block printing and the prints in bedroom were all from India.

Cathy Kincaid is my favorite! I’ve followed her from the Southern Accents show house in 2002 in North Dallas to the Dallas Kips Bay showhouse 2020. She does pretty comfortable timeless rooms.

Absolutely incredible home and interior decorations. A home full of character. I love the way how the Eastern Indian furniture and Indian artworks are mixed together with American abstract expressionist style of paintings. Flowers everywhere around the house. Such a romance, such an exquisite taste for culture and art and such a talent for spinning out an array of so many different ideas, styles and periods and endless inspirations!
The home is dreamy. It is elegant, with such a welcoming comfortableness that it invites you to enjoy every nook and cranny. Bright and cheerful, everything balances and dances together to perfection, light and airy. Love the painted mural. I am glad the painter put the head back on. It is all a breath of fresh air. I love the blue. Peace!

For my this home is a true loved collection of objects which are a self expression. Whe objects have a story they become part of your life. Loved the real flower arrangements, something so lush and beautiful.
That is my taste: layered, floral, mildly eclectic and above all - warm. Had not seen Ms. Kincaid for a long while, had never seen her home and so I'm so lucky to have stumbled across this. I had no idea Schumacher was on YT. I need to do a bit more research. Everyone is here.

This house just keeps getting better and better. I have just reached the point where we have gone from the flowers to where she introduces the canopy bed - I am in a soggy, grey, cold UK - so, I need to take a moment..... but I will come back and love watching the rest of this house so that I can visit it in my dreams tonight.
I liked her comment about using smaller scale furniture in a large room. Very helpful. I feel like I bought into the idea that a large loving room requires two large sofas. How I wish I had done it differently. Now to wait until the couches wear out. (“Hey kids, you can jump on the sofas!”) However- first world problem, I do realize…
I love her layers, its absolutely homey, comfortable and filled with surprises..its so opposite of minilism..a real home full of passion.

Cathy is just lovely and her home is exactly as she described: relaxed and I don't think it is "crazy" I think it is well thought out! And I am a huge fan of canopy beds. My current one is draped on all sides with an interior lining that has a reflective element to the fabric. It becomes a "tent' during NYC winters --- tucked in and relaxed ! Everyone comments with "WOW" so I guess they like it as much as I do!

A survivalist blogger says to place your mattress beneath your dining room table and make a tent with drapery. So going to do that, a la canopy bed, in Johannesburg, May 2022, as Eskom loadshedding for four hours per night. Yah! Instant camping!!!
My favorite room in her house is every one of them! What a fantastic lady and beautiful home! Her home seems so stress-free even though she stated it is full of chaos. ❤️

I know exactly what you mean about tablecloths.I have a hack I have used for years I also live in Texas and love sitting outside on my porch.I buy beautiful fabric shower curtains and use them for tablecloths.I have a round table and they fit perfectly and are water and weather proof Thank you for sharing your beautiful home. Late reply, but this is a Thierry Colson dress! You may be able to find it in this pattern on the real real or Poshmark, but he releases this dress in new patterns/colors all the time.
I love how the books on the shelf weren't perfectly organised. It's so refreshing to see that it's possible for a designer to balance beauty and imperfection. She even said she doesn't mind when people come around and make a mess, "I love it" ❤
