I'm a long time fan of classic country music, and GTA: San Andreas just made it even better for me. Looking at all the comments about the kids loving this music, all because of a game, makes me feel so great. More games should have music like this in it!
You know it's those subtle peaceful moments in GTA San Andreas I remember the most. Like when you got stranded after you managed to bail a flaming plane and you parachute down in the desert. You think, "Oh great! Now I'm going to be here for a while until I run to the nearest highway", but then like a devine miracle a junk Glendale passes you by and you think to yourself, "well if that's the best I'm going to do I might as well take it" so you carjack it. It's noon and you could see the city lights as you drove it, very slowly because the car couldn't go any faster, all the way down the highway to Las Venturas. You could of easily stopped and stolen a faster better vehicle when you first reached that highway on the Glendale but you didn't. In fact it's because of the junkie-beat-up Glendale that for once in the game you're actually relaxed. You feel good and you don't care that you're going slow because they're playing good music on the radio, on the same station that it was on when you stole it, and you never changed it.
next and last GTA game would already let u call delivery then. instead of waiting some poor civilians passing by to getting robbed the setting is nowadays, these years on real life, where smart phone already exist, haha jetpack , so futuristic, in 1991 i guess that;s already too much though
C0olD3x To be fair in GTA San Andreas there is cheats and sometimes I'll get so frustrated I'll just end up entering the Hydra cheat and said fuck it I'm not waiting any longer. But most of the time I played without using a single cheat because it was that fun.
I was so excited going to Las Venturas for the first time. I remember listening to this song while crossing the bridge and entering this completely new area. Gives me chills when I think about it.
As someone who lives in Virginia. I obviously knew who the Statler Brothers were before the release of San Andreas (My grandfather actually played music with them at his camp before they got famous), but I remember I was so excited after being so surprised reading that they were included on the soundtrack for the game from the little booklet that came in the case alongside the San Andreas map. I knew it was the perfect way to introduce a younger generation to a musical group they might've not been familiar with before, and it definitely did. One of my all time favorite songs on K-ROSE. The station as a whole was one of the top three best.
I am an Indian residing in one of the remote areas of the country, not in a 100 years I would have listened to such songs..but San Andreas made it happen...
Agree. I'm from Staunton. Loved them & got to go to the concerts every year from 1981-1994. I'm very happy people found them from Pulp Fiction & GTA. They're quality, for sure! ❤️🎶
Never gets old to drive through the country or through the skies with flying cars, then this song along with many others is on the radio. Will forever be the best GTA.
Only 90s kid will understand how a 4GB game brought so much memory to us. Driving in the county roads of angel pine and mt. chilliad, forest, montgomery, the desert while listening to KROSE. CJ played 99% Cowboy from me and 1% Gangster :D GTA SA memories
Sometimes, CJ drives through the countryside, when it's SCOTTISH WEATHER and sentimentally reflects on Catalina's absence and her moving to the New York City
As a GTA baby, I encountered a bad heartbreak in my adult life & this was someone I planned to marry, anyway long story, short. This song hit really hard & was a part of my healing. So it'll forever stay close to my heart ❤. To think I discovered this while running over & performing drive-bys on Ballas as a kid 😅
+Phoenix497 See the difference. K-Rose is mostly standard country from 50s to 90s, while Rebel Radio is outlaw country. Heck, the host on RR is D Ray White's son, Jesco. There's no more outlaw person than him these days. Great dancer he is, by the way. Now, outlaw country means artists like Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, Kris Kristofferson, Hank3, Merle Haggard, Johnny Paycheck etc, while standard traditional country means artists like Hank Sr, Patsy Cline, old music by the first four I mentioned earlier, George Jones, Tammy Wynette, Roy Acuff and basically everything you hear on K-Rose that has pedal steel in it. Now take Juice Newton, she's a part of the newer country movement. A bit more popish country. K-Rose has standard country hits on the playlist, while RR is full of the rebel side of 70s and 80s, when country artists got fed up with the Nashville bullshit the producers and writers threw their way. The history of country music is very interesting. Try Hank3 for example, he's done a bit of everything. Outlaw country, traditional country, heavy metal, acid metal, punk rock, cowpunk..

This song used to make me cry as a kid. I thought the lyrics said "Honey, won't you tell him 'bout his daddy? And give him all the love I never could, but never tell him too much about his daddy, cuz there ain't nothing much to say that's good..." I love my parents, so those lyrics always made me really sad. I still loved the song and I still do today, but I vividly remember how sad I was picturing that scenario in my head as a kid.

Lyrics:
She came to me shortly after Christmas
Said she hated spoiling New Year's Eve.
But the truth doesn't wait to come in season
And what we had feared was now believed
She said she'd leave come Monday morning
Catch a plane if I'd split the fair.
She had friends who lived in New York City.
She'd look them up and have the baby there.
And now she's alone in New York City (New York City)
Living like ... Lord, I wonder how.
An angel in hell in New York City (New York City)
But I can't think about that now.
Honey, will you tell him Bible stories
And give him all the love I never could?
And never tell him too much 'bout his daddy
'Cause there's not too much to say that's good.
He'll have to learn it all from his mother:
How to count and say his A-B-C's.
But when you teach him prayers to say at bedtime
Leave off "God bless Daddy, " won't you please?
And now they're alone in New York City (New York City)
Living like ... Lord, I wonder how.
Two angels in hell in New York City (New York City)
But I can't think about that now.
