I really do appreciate the openness you talk about your OCD and how it affects your mental health. It's actually kind of comforting we all face our own challenges in different ways. Gotta do better, little by little!
As someone who has dealt with OCD severely since I was 8, I really appreciate you being open about it on video. It’s not just the neat and organized OCD that everyone says they have, it’s like a thought being planted in your mind that you can’t shake. Whether it be a fear or an idea, it can literally plant itself in your mind and won’t leave. Greatest advice I ever got during my treatment was to treat those thoughts as a virus and “build up” my immunity to them each time they came. It’s very easy to accept them as reality, but truth is they’re irrational. I was always told those irrational fears were never gonna be a reality, and to this day, 20 years later, there hasn’t been a single one that has came true. Eventually when you are able to work through enough of them it gets a little easier each time. That was how I got through mine and got to a point where they didn’t completely consume my day. Hope that helps in some way. Keep doing great things my man. 🤙🏻
Thank you for posting daily videos. I struggle with anxiety and I’m feeling really isolated. You have been a big part of me keeping my sanity over the last three months.
It's always refreshing to hear someone be as transparent as you Matt. Sometimes its easy to look at just the surface of others peoples lives, and forget that they have their struggles too. I wish you the best in finding peace in driving again.
I’ve learned so much just from watching these Wash and Talks. From proper wheel cleaning, to investing in my AR 630TSS. Thank you for being completely transparent in all of the topics you discuss and thorough explanation in the “whys and hows”. From one OCD guy to another 👍🏻
Since I have been put on lockdown and testing positive for Covid your videos with the Civic (My HS/dream car) have gotten me through each day...Thank you!
I’m obsessed with the whole setup you have at home and the 360 washer hose from the ceiling is just amazing. Most people would love to have this set up for a business let alone at home. You’ve done amazing 🤑🤑
I have a friend who had some hard panic attacks when riding the bus or just getting outside the city by car. Now he is better with this. Your work is amazing. Everything clean. Would love to build something similar for car detailing. A lot to learn. Take care.
Thats one of my dream cars in that exact color. As a "regular" guy I say you did it your way & that is the perfect way! If you can afford to do it that way than do so. It's not about how much you spend or what parts you can get but the overall experience of how the car makes you feel when its complete. This is art & as an artist you create it in your image. Many people paint happy little trees but there's only one Bob Ross. It's your car, your canvas & to me it's amazing! Much Love! Keep it up man!
So 17k for the system, 5k for the seats, 12-15k for wheels, 10-15k for other Mods and then the price of the car makes this close to 100k civic! THATS BADASS. I love the work you’re doing man keep it up!!!!
I struggle heavily with OCD. When I bought my new car here recently, it’s gotten out of hand at times. I’m never satisfied with how the car looks and how it can’t just look ‘car show quality’ all the time. Glad to listen to someone who also deals with the same kind of problems that I do.
hey man, i just want to let you know how fulfilling these videos are to watch. you’ve said it before, but this is everything i dreamed of as a kid; getting my first honda, and spending hours and hours and HOURS of researching and reading through every forum, imaging what every part i wanted would look like, how cool it would be to install... just want to say thanks, haha. am really enjoying all of it.
Matt we need lots of courage and commitment to face our own fears and illnesses and then exposed them to the world, specially when your fears are ur passion, you are a true warrior, all my words comes from knowing and facing exactly the same illness, lost my comercial aviation career, after 20 years flying suddenly like u said “lots of adrenaline and the feeling of our humanity is finishing right there in seconds” then the panic attack shows up, lack of air, chest pain and u know the rest. Thank God in my case wasn’t flying that day, then my biggest passion became my biggest fear. With good and constant therapy becomes manageable. U are the best at what u do, that’s for sure, thanks for all the awesome content and keep washing and talking, it’s really therapeutic, relaxing and addictive. Mr. Legit OGSpec, blessings 🚙🏆🙏🏻
I’m definitely living vicariously through these videos. Meanwhile my EM1 is sitting, can’t figure out this damn idling issue. Can’t wait until you’re all done with it. Looking forward to all the mods!
You should add JDM folding side view mirrors. easy to find new genuine on eBay for around $250 shipped. The one piece on the USDM make a cheap car look even cheaper.
I’m so looking forward to the stereo install. I am a guy that not only worked in the car stereo business in the early 90’s but had multiple big money stereos back in the day as well.
awesome matt i suffer from anxiety issues and washing my car is theraputic and i force myself to drive places which is fun. now actually going somewhere and getting out of my car and go in a place is a different story
I enjoy how real you are about costs and your kickback. A lot of people would keep that secret while making a lot of money on giveaways, you'e very open.
Finally getting caught up on videos. For your funnel, see if your machinist can put a vent hole that would go into the container to allow the air to escape while you fill it. It will allow you to fill quicker and less blurrrping.
I consider myself a pretty close follower of yours, but I had no idea you were still dealing with the mental stuff. My panic attacks began in October to the point of going to the emergency room every time I felt bad. Last few months have been on and off but generally better. But before I left my job I’d panic the entire way to work every day. 40 miles one way of panic and agony that usually began at the same location. I’d have to get out of my car and go for a walk to prepare for my day at work. It’s absolutely insane how we can be so productive and accomplish so much but our own mind can shut us in the dark. It’s the most terrifying thing in the world. Hopefully things improve for you as they have for me. I’m far from back to normal but I feel my limits have expanded exponentially.
My little brother had the exact car. 1 dumb night changed his life. He hasn’t been the the same since. He wouldn’t care how much money you have in it. He just needs a 2000 si back in his life. He had 250 whp with a redline of 8265. Bone stock internals, Greddy turbo kit with every bolt on you could have. He had white 5zigen imperial wheels. I just wish that I could give him what he misses. We have most of the car in boxes. He has the greddy header if you want it, fit both b16 and b 18
Even though it was an EX, my 1999 civic was red and had the si wing. Would have motor swapped it by now. It was my dream car. My first car at 16. Got stolen 2 years later unfortunately. Your SI videos are bittersweet. I would probably cry if I could win this thing. I never win anything but ill give it a try.
While I would love to win this car myself, I’m stoked no matter what to see someone win this thing. This is such a clean example and you are going so over the top that it will be second to none.
That’s awesome that you agree with the wheels being black. You could always get it powder coated instead of buying new wheels. Full polish would go nice with the blue or powder coat some of them white.
In the early 2000 my buddy had baby blue Carmy for his grandmother that passed away it was a commuting car for college first thing we did was install a Sony xploed deck In , man did that transformed the sound it was crazy the difference was....
I understand the feeling of contentment washing cars. It's a very private and peaceful feeling. I hope you can overcome. Venlafaxine was a big help for me. I enjoy Obsessed Garage and will be a devoted subscriber. Hang in there Brother.
Hard anodized aluminum should be pretty durable, but maybe that raises cost too much idk. Also, I think those wheels look incredible for that car just the way they are. I really like the meaty tire look I think you mentioned in one of the episodes. Really sorry to hear about the panic attacks, I've been watching you for years at this point and I remember some of the times when you were overwhelmed and struggling a bit with the medical/mortality stuff. Glad that OG is doing well and you've got these awesome projects ahead, I'm sure you'll get through this sorta rough patch as well. Just know that some of your fans, including me, are going through something similar and appreciate you speaking on it so honestly. As you said explaining things like that are difficult unless you experience it.
I subbed when you got the SI and have really enjoyed the attention to detail with this build (that may be an understatement). Can’t wait to see how it looks when it’s finished!
Great video again so relaxing to watch 👍 after washing i drive the car a view times back and forward and hit the brakes a view times it also stops the rusting greetings from the netherlands
My panic disorder made it so I can’t drive on the highway anymore. I used to drive to Florida and back all the time now I can’t even get on the highway for a mile. No issue with back roads or normal street driving. Has really changed my life though.
Car looks beatiful man. Paint looks perfect. As a car guy...you’re struggle is awful. I couldn’t imagine having all the cars you’ve dreamed of, but not being able to drive them. Hope it gets better bro!
Kickin it! Seems like a lot for a stereo, but when I was competing in IASCA tournaments, I unloaded 26k on a 1985 Honda CRX!! Crazy days, but no regrets for a second. Can't wait to see more progress on the entire build.
I've heard about bead maker for years and have never tried it, but if you approve of it then is must be good. Just ordered a gallon from you. Love your channel Matt!
It's good stuff. Get a couple of the orange towels. It dries quickly so give the first towel a few sprays. Follow immediately with the second towel. I've heard a few complain about streaking. I've only gotten streaks ehen I didn't immediately follow with the second towel. Enjoy.
One of fav series, SI looks awesome man, love and hate with those wheels though, maybe little bigger size. Looking forward to seeing what that new spx is all about (currently own a spx3000 completely modified to OG spec). The AR613, want to see how that stacks up to the AR630. Great stuff Matt!
@@viruxer Well to be fair we did get our version of the Si, the Vti. Just not the coupe, we got both the hatchback and the sedan, but for coupes we got the EJ8 with the D16 instead of the EM1.
MATT have you tested ONR as a rinse aid then dry with Bead Maker? Mix ONR 1:10 into a sprayer shoot the car down with ONR right after you have rinsed down the car then dry/BM on top.
Hey Matt, sorry to hear about the driving sometimes I forget about your condition just do what you need to do to enjoy your cars. Civic looks great I agree I think gunmetal or dark silver rims would look better than the black on that car. I wanted to let you know that I picked up the engine bay package last Black Friday it was already pretty cold here in Michigan and the truck was relatively new so I knew I wasn’t going to use it until the spring well I finally used it last weekend and I’ll tell you what it worked incredibly well remember the truck was new and the engine bay was a little dusty not dirty really at all stay pretty clean even through the winter so I wasn’t expecting a whole lot rinse it off sprayed some Maguires AP agitated and rinsed them the hyper dressing and man the next morning it literally looked better way better than new if I clean for five hours there’s no way I could’ve made it look this good thanks Matt that stuffs awesome I did the bedliner as well and same thing it looks like it’s brand brand new have a great one!
This civic is going to be insane. Talk about a dream build come true. What do we need to do to enter in the give-away? This car needs to go to a proper owner for sure! Collector wont drive it, fan boys will destroy it, enthusiast will enjoy it :) The wash and talk sessions sure help you vent about whats on your mind, keep it up and great job!
I don't know, I feel like with the narrow little spout on the soap bottle, it would be easier to just pour it into the foam cannon bottle and not worry about a funnel. With a funnel you now have a separate piece that has to be cleaned out before putting it away.
Got to ask why the two bucket instead of just using more wash “mits”? And since you’re going all out with this build. May as well just get a spoon long block. Unless it’s an availability issue. I love the videos. You’ve always got a lot of great advice.
5 lug conversions gun metal ITR wheels. JDM Integra mirrors, full track suspension and rip off the tint. Fishbowl FTW. Really hope I win this giveaway. Dream car when I was 20.
Here's a business tip for OG, create 4 mini ramps to put on the tyres when you're washing it, that way the side walls don't touch the ground and you can dress the tyres all the way around without missing a spot. There's products on the market that do that but i'm sure you'll come up with a great solution for that. ;)
You could have him make it a 250ml funnel, with ml markers at 100, 150, and 200 so you can fill it once let it sit while you prep other stuff and not have to fill it up multiple times. That way you could also do different ratios for different soaps
B20V Since you already have the cylinder head and the transmission. Use a B 20 B bottom man and have the shop built the block with 10:5,1 or 11:5..1. Compression pistons. .. some stage one or tool cam shaft with valve springs and you’ll be good to go
I need that funnel, I have a small measuring cup that I add 2oz of water then add the soap, swirl it around then pour into my mtm foam cannon via Adams funnel no problem
OMG i really love that car, i haven't watched your videos in weeks since you start building it. That car looks so damn good and clean. Hope to watch more videos of this car cuz i like this car so much! God Bless!! ✌😍
if you want to give it away id be happy to take it i already have same generation accord keep that as a daily and take this on nice summer days to car shows
You got two different headlights left and right, I must have missed something. Anyway love the clear chrome headlight really clean look , the blacked out on not so much.
It would be so hard to build my dream honda and then give it away but I guess if I could make more money than I spend on it and could afford to build myself one to keep I would love to be able to give amazing cars away. That feeling has got to be so Awesome to give someone a dream car.
Something tells me a set of Advan RS or RG style wheel would look really good on this car. Black wheels disappear with this blue paint job. Bronze, gold, grey, or silver would really pop.
It’s all relative. Some people prefer classics they grew up with and are familiar with and can work on and tool with. Others prefer newer tech and the next big thing. Of course newer cars will be better... that was never the point. You like what you like. Coke and Pepsi thing. Coke is the right answer though lol... Of course I’ll take a newer car over the a civic but only to flip it and buy something I’d really want. The stuff not existing anymore is the allure lol. Regamaster Evo IIs in 16 x 7 +35 in silver Matt. Trust me. TE37s are generic cookie cutter. Evos or advan rg2s! That paintjob... still fantastic after 20 years. Appreciate the honesty Matt. Quarantine has twisted all of us in some weird ways. Hope you get better.
I haven't looked closely at those funnels, but could you cut out channel up the side of the neck free some air-flow? The QD probably cuts off air pretty good so you may get a little extra speed out of having an efficient exit path for the air inside of the bottle.
I really do appreciate the openness you talk about your OCD and how it affects your mental health. It's actually kind of comforting we all face our own challenges in different ways. Gotta do better, little by little!

Why is washing and detailing your car so relaxing😌
Its a simple mundane task that he has control over and can directly impact the quality of the end results. Therapeutic and satisfying to the brain.
Because your focused on that nothing else no mind running
Don't buy an off the shelf exhaust....have LHT build you a titanium with twin loop since they're already doing the engine.
Thank you for posting daily videos. I struggle with anxiety and I’m feeling really isolated. You have been a big part of me keeping my sanity over the last three months.
This is definitely going to be one of the most expensive street civic builds.💯
No....The most. THIS dude is legit crazy haha
The fact that you’re so open about your OCD is amazing man. I hope you making these videos helps you as much as they help us. You’re the man
"i don't like black on this color car"
Ordered 5 black wheels.
He also said in the video, "it's not about what you want (to buy), but... what's available".
Guess you missed that part.
You’re telling me he couldn’t find different colored aftermarket wheels for an Em1?
It looks perfect that ride height, great looking coupe
I laughed when he said I really want "16x7 gunmetal TEs." I have those exact specs/colour and I'm refinishing them bronze 🤣
That Si blue looks so good on camera. Thank you for doing this build, you are living the dream Matt.

I have a friend who had some hard panic attacks when riding the bus or just getting outside the city by car. Now he is better with this.
Your work is amazing. Everything clean.
Would love to build something similar for car detailing. A lot to learn.
Take care.
You need to figure out a vent system on the funnel so the product will drain faster.

I can't believe that the 1k miles S2000 solde for basically the same price as that 5k mile EM1. Insane!
One of my favorite videos. Car is so stunning and it has all the best of the best.
There will be plenty of announcement about the giveaway once we start it.
Need more info on that EGO 650 Prototype nozzle! I got the 650 but need that short nozzle!
Tbh if you set up a 24/7 livestream video of this car just sitting there in the bay, I would watch it, not gonna lie.
I don't know, I feel like with the narrow little spout on the soap bottle, it would be easier to just pour it into the foam cannon bottle and not worry about a funnel. With a funnel you now have a separate piece that has to be cleaned out before putting it away.
Man I love this car, couldn’t be in better hands in my opinion going to be legit
Julio Salvat I think white itr wheels might look better
Looks so good. Bronze TE’s would look really good as well.
Who needs a sound system when you have VTEC yo.....
Here's a business tip for OG, create 4 mini ramps to put on the tyres when you're washing it, that way the side walls don't touch the ground and you can dress the tyres all the way around without missing a spot. There's products on the market that do that but i'm sure you'll come up with a great solution for that. ;)
2x4’s work lol
That civic looks awesome man.
I love my EGO 650 blower. Are you planning on eventually selling the stubby tube? Right now I'm using the Master Blaster to dry my cars.
It would be so hard to build my dream honda and then give it away but I guess if I could make more money than I spend on it and could afford to build myself one to keep I would love to be able to give amazing cars away. That feeling has got to be so Awesome to give someone a dream car.
If I won that Si. I'd have it for life, I would never let it go.
