- I finally found it! My Electron Blue EM1 Honda Civic Si! The perfect candidate for this build fell right into my lap, low miles, and very close to being stock! I agree. Dude shows off super cherry EM1 SI and immediately plans on dicking with it. One sold last year on BaT with 74k mi for 15k. Just buy any 96-00 coupe and start there. What a shame.
@@BK_BT the only little issue I have is swapping the motor. I would hate the idea of mileage on the chassis and the mileage on the original motor being different. But other than that I agree.
@@BK_BT I suppose that would be an interesting way of going about and a good series of videos. Apologies for coming off crass. You made sound as though the engine would be sold to offset a C1 na build, assumed other parts would follow. On one hand it's already been messed with to a minor degree, what's a few more but on the other it's fairly rare to find a low milage SI that hasn't been modded into oblivion or wrecked. Personally, I want to see both done, ha ha. The older I get, the purist I become but I'll never lose my love for Honda modding. I drove a swapped 96 for 10+ years and am eager to see what you do with a C1. What made you choose a C1 over H22? *Dredging up 20+ year old debate lol.

One thing I can say an respect about this man. He is fortunate and blessed to own higher end cars but still has a soft spot for Honda’s. It is sad how some folks forgot where they came from after they get to a certain level in life which is understandable but a worth of a car is more than a brand and $$$ but more so the impact it has on an individual.Hope to meet you one day Matt just to pick your brain and learn a lot from you.

As “common” as they are for modified tuners there really is no other choice. They’re just perfect. Very much looking forward to this build

@Brandon Tran Agreed.... this car is molested enough as it is. I would have sourced all OEM parts and removed every last bit of aftermarket nonsense that was left on it. Including finding an OEM cloth interior.

Bryan same here. I had the last 99 model in electric blue to roll off the line. Ordered it and Waited 4 weeks for it arrive. The dealer had a red and black one in stock but I wanted the the blue. had it 5 years. Got non stop compliments on the color.
Same here but Flamenco Black Pearl. Always jealous of the EBPs, gorgeous color...unfortunately, also screamed "steal me!" as many Sis also were at the time.
Almost bought one of these in 2003 but ended up with a '95 SC300 instead. I'm sure I would have crashed an Si, but had I not, would have kept it a very long time.
Same here. Bought my Black 2000 December 13,1999. My story is very similar to Matt’s. I added the obligatory stereo lol. And of course the black Honda OE trunk spoiler. Love these cars.

If it were my money, I would find a ragged out Civic Si if modifying to the extent you are thinking. That car is on the level where it should be preserved as is.

The EM1 is the nostalgia car for everyone man. I'm building one for that reason!
I got mine March of 99. I had a DC Sports 4-1 header and exhaust with AEM CAI. I had MSD wires, Denso Ir plugs and a B@M adjustable fuel pressure regulator/riser. It was never a fast car. About 15.4 second ET in Arizona, but I loved it!
Sweet Matt. When I was 19 - the very first brand new car I ever bought was a 1997 Civic HX coupe manual. Put 140k miles on it. Will always love these cars.

Sign me up for this. I fell in love with this car when I started playing Need For Speed Underground 2. There was an architect in my city who owned one and I met him at a detailing place where I took my dad's vehicle that day. At that moment, the engine bay was being cleaned (first time I saw that process btw). He was kind enough to walk me through his stock car. He ended up modifying the car with carbon body pieces and other stuff that took the car to another level.

I had freight scheduled delivery in 3 days, well hot shot driver had it delivered to me next day. From Tucson, AZ to Dallas, TX.
This is great! I had a 42k mile 99 SiR I sold a few years ago. I just bought another Integra Type R last night. Can’t wait to have all the VTEC again.
Greddy exhaust, AEM intake, JL 10 W7, literally everting I had on mine 🤯. This is unbelievable. $25k for a museum quality example of a car is not the worst thing in the world.
I wanna ditch my 10w3's and just do a single 10w7 in a custom box that eliminates the spare tire area and sits flat flush... how would you say a single 10w7 sounds compared to a pair of 10w3's if both were given about the same amount of power?
The nostalgia I’m going through right now is incredible… SI civic… Hot Import Nights… Sick stereo system... I’m very surprisingly excited. Matt we may have lived in a parallel universe!

I've had my em1 11 years now and mannnnnn I'm so excited to see this. PLEASEEE LEAVE THE WING ON!!. But I love the carbon hood and CTR headlight ideas so far. You earned a new subscriber

Man brings back memories. Had a 95 civic HB, and did a b16, b18c, and finally did b18cR and then sold it. Miss that car, and this is beautiful!!

Man! I am having flash backs to my 16yr old self. I always wanted this car! I had a 1998 EX and my brother in law had the 2000 Si and I always wanted the electron pearl blue 2000 Si!!! Your living my dream!
Mugen mf10 wheels: period correct AND best wheel made for this car.
Only issue there is you have to use mf10L for 4 lug which is 15”. Mf8 is 16” and would be perfect. Really hard to find now though. I still have a set thankfully. Te’s are always classic.
Unexpected but happy to see this on the channel. My dad bought a NBP DC2 ITR brand new in 2001 and your story about the one at the dealer reminded me of our experience in picking his up.

OMG I'm so pumped for this. Had an Ex for my first car and spent years converting it since I couldn't have an Si. Can't believe you found one that clean and original. The car helped me get over the loss of my father as I had engineered 2 DIY turbo kits. I spent countless nights researching everything and the pinnacle of my build was making 200whp with a D series that could run down 4.6L mustangs (made with mostly cheap or junkyard parts of course). Eventually the car led me to become an automotive tech, and then working for an independent Honda shop, and eventually buying that shop.
I lusted after this car strongly in high school. Very cool to see such a clean example.
Apexi Ws2 sounds perfect! I had one but had to sell it for college beers back in the day haha
Things to add: ASR rear brace, 22mm rear sway, and SiR Canadian cluster!
You should have LHT build you a custom exhaust, they’ll get the sound right

Love this build! I myself in 2000, at the age of 19 bought a 1999 Civic EX, and the SI's were all the crave. I put soo much money into mine and sold it 2 years later....Looking back I wished I would of kept it..It was clean and very sleak, no crazy stupid looking stuff on it. Looking forward to seeing this build.

Had a 99 model same color. Loved it. Made a few mods. Lowered, exhaust, intake, etc. Went to all the shows. HIN, NOPI Nationals in Atlanta. Did the super street tour to NOPI. Seems like yesterday. Simpler times for sure.

My very first Honda was an Acura Integra RS. Loved the car so freaken much. This EM1 is probably the only car i would take in blue. My daily is 2013 Honda Civic SI in Rallye Red. Just hit 60k miles recently

@RICARDO haha I still remember running 15.0 at 92.7 MPH (yes I remember the exact ET and trap speed lol) in my almost bone stock Integra GSR, with only suspension modifications. That was like 15 years ago. Just a touch better 60' time and I would have been in the 14's.

I assure you this was the last of the dealers concerns on his lot and I still thank he left money on the table at 25k. Not much but between 25-30k... if it he 0 rust. I am a dealer and sold one that was rough a few months back, but was stock with 0 issue.
This car is absolutely beautiful. Please, consider keeping the spoiler. It came that way from the factory, and it wouldn't be the same without it. Personally, I would build a B20 VTEC for this particular car if you are staying NA, or keep the B18 block, and run a Brian Crower stroker kit and make the motor 2 liters. It's not a 2000 lb hatchback, so it's better to have more Torque, especially when you are adding weight with a huge subwoofer and box. I'm the same age group, and had similar cars with big stereos when I was in highschool, so I think we have a ton in common. I owned a 94 Civic Hatchback with a JDM B18C w/ LSD transmission back in the day with basically full bolt-ons and some suspension done. It was a wonderful car to own and work on. I had it for 10 years and got rid of it when I had my first kid. I still miss that car terribly everyday, and the urge to build another Honda grows stronger every day. I already put a big stereo in my truck just for fun. Got on Orion XTR 2500.1 for $339 and it puts out well over 3,000 watts @ 1 ohm at 13.8v. It powers 2 American Bass XR 12"s in a 4 cubic ft ported box. Really powerful system, and it was really inexpensive. Since the amp and subs cost so little, I was able to get extra goodies. Ran all 2/0 pure copper welding cable for everything, crimped copper lugs, 300 amp alternator, 2 extra group 31 AGM batteries. It gets LOUD!!!

I think Spoon currently has the most expensive Honda Civic build which apparently costed $150,000 to build.

I own this exact color sans wing. And frankly me and you have a similar philosophy: 200 is a good, fun, reliable number out of the B16A2.
My baseline was set with a 2018 SI turbo, not so sure putting a turbo on a B16 sounds appealing anymore, when Honda already basically did a 20-ish PSI setup from the factory. Sure the L15B7 had no VTEC, this is how I imagine a Turbo B18B LS build feels.
JUST MAKE IT OEM PLUS no rise, carbon fiber hood, trunk, etc. My em1 was type r theme ; s2000 steering wheel, type r door cards, type r seats, Mugen twin loop exahust.......end more cant remember.

I had a 2000 in Black, I miss my old car like crazy. Thanks for Sharing this car brings a ton of memories for me. You have to find the rear Honda OEM bumper lip for the car. It just finishes off the look. I remember I had a tough time finding my back in 2001.

I had a 2000 B95-P Civic Si as well. I regret selling it to this day. I had Bronze CE28s 15’s along with dozens of other mods. May want to give the Bronze wheels a look, the color combination is absolutely sensational. Wish I still had that car

Mat, the nostalgia makes me wanna cry. I Will never forget the day I walked into a dealer and went for a test drive in a mint, imported JDM spec SIR that only had 28 000 km on the clock. This thing was pulling hard even at past 8000rpm. The experience turned me into a hardcore JDM fanboy who would go on to own 3 civics. The only other non-Honda car I've driven, that has a motor that matches B16/b18 for character must the e90 m3 with the s65 !!!. Good luck on this build, cant wait to see how it turns out. Man absolutely amazing. This was my dream car back in 2000 I built out a 1990 Honda Civic four-door modeled after the 99 SI, put in a motor out of one, painted it the same color, shaved the doorhandles and put air ride suspension and a huge stereo LOL. I will definitely support you on this giveaway just to have a chance.

Regarding brake feel- I had a 99 Civic EX and bought the ITR 1" brake master cylinder, brake booster, and 50/50 proportioning valve (I believe the Si had that though) and it made the brakes feel AMAZING.
I'll buy the mud flaps and that spoiler if you're not gonna use them! I'm in the same boat, sold my z06 and picked up an EM1 to build. Can't beat a Civic for investment to fun ratio haha.
Keep the wing, no red Honda badges. I dig the period correct, dream early aughts build approach. I want to win this already.

First off beautiful, museum piece car. I would love for it to stay this way like others have said. Although the way you speak about a no expense build is the only way that would do it justice. Some recommendations:
Wheels: You were on the money here.
Exhaust: Fujitsubo RM01A or Legalis R. Spoon N1 (loud), Mugen Twinloop.
Intake: TODA Racing ITB setup would be my ultimate choice. Secondary choice would be a Mugen DC2R airbox with OEM or custom arm.
Header: TODA, Spot on.
Rocker Cover i would personally go wrinkle black or Spoon Yellow. Red is too garish imo.
Function 7 rear lower control arms and subframe brace.
EK9 Cluster to replace the white gauges.
I do prefer the boot wingless too.

Agree on the valve cover. If he goes Spoon parts the yellow valve cover would be perfect.
Matt this is so good! I’m the same age which probably explains why I am into this. Back then I was a vw kid and a closet Honda guy, but doing a period correct build on this is definitely the way to go! Swapping out the cheap stuff for oem+. The NA route I think is the best since this chassis is fwd. I hope you can build a b18c that revs to the moon and can spank a dc2 type r. That is another Honda product I lust after as an old man. It’s nice to watch this build as the ricer stigma can be detached from the car now since it is so old. Back then that is what I hated about the Honda community. Now I love the engineering they put on such an affordable package. This car is going to fun at the end!

I would look for an OEM rear lip. I had one and made the rear look even better.
