Thoughts on the "N60 Storm Only": -Great on early game, but at end game becomes a "fly past the enemies" due lack of damage. -Ammo wise has good amount capacity, but bosses are just and just manageable (After Courtney Gears they become too beefy) though you can at least see the damage it deals to the bosses. -Weapon doesn't feel bad, but neither weak; late game enemies do take a lot of shots, but the "lock-on mod" allows to see how much health they have, making it not feel too weak. Would recommend? -If you ignore the initial grind at the start and the end game bosses, Yes. The weapon is not that bad, but compared to the other better alternatives it's weak. Luckily the game has the PDA, which will solve any ammo issues at any point as the ammo is quite cheap even at higher cost, but it requires "some" grinding if not prepared.
@@JAYDOG1337A yeah the lancer is the coolest looking blaster but its power its mediocre. Its just my opinion but i think that the Base Lancer looks much better than the Heavy version.
Gosh, just stumbled upon this. It brings back memories of when I did a playthrough of this game using only the shock rifle, annihilator and n60 storm, although I used the ps3 debug code to ungive myself the nitro launcher.
Yeah...I didn't notice it when I was a kid or when I played R&C3 casually, but paying close attention to this weapon, it's sorta obvious that it sucks a big fat one, I can see why people say it's one of the worst weapons in the series.
It is quite a weak weapon, which is a common trend with blaster type weapons with every game in the series as most of them become quite useless in the late game (except Blaster in Rac1 and maybe Dual Raptors in Deadlocked), but I think it is the point of it to encourage using other non-automatic weapons. Though if you manage to upgrade the weapon to V8 in NG+, it's actually not that bad weapon (did a video on that sometime ago for the PS2 ratchet games: ruclips.net/video/BV5TmQMqob4/видео.html )
to be honest i'd rather do this run than have to go through, say, all of rac 1 with only the walloper. at least here you have some range on the fuckers
Most of the melee weapons in the series do have some issues with their short range attacks and most of the cases difficulties with dealing flying enemies. The infinite ammo on walloper is neat, which might work well in the first game, but having range is pretty much "a must" to have on some parts/sections.
tbh if you used the debug code to just start with it, i don't think anyone would call this inauthentic. And man this game is really stingy with ammo drops.
At the time of recording I didn't know about the debug codes. It definitely would make the run less grindy at the beginning, but it was interesting to see if you could do it in a legit way (or even do it on the original PS2 version, where the debug codes aren't implemented as it's PS3 HD collection exclusive). The PS2 trilogy can be a bit stingy with ammo drops as you're not supposed to play the whole game with only using one weapon, especially with one that has very low damage output compared to the other weapons ^^ (it was adjusted in deadlocked as the enemies could drop ammo, more guaranteed drops from bigger enemies)
after seing you clear the first planet now i want to see a challange where someone sees how few gun shots and wrench swings you can beat the game with :)
It seems like the walkers dont recieve knockback in the PS3 version, weird, i remember them staggering every 3rd shot Edit:nvm seems like it sometimes work, sometimes it dosent
I think all of the enemies may have a certain "damage threshold per shot" before they receive knockback from said shots. N60 Storm is quite weak at the start (and overall compared to the other weapons), but once it reaches V3, it starts to causing the knockback effect on the walkers on Marcadia (Couple timestamps for examples: (V2 at 0:38:50 and V3 at 0:39:40)(though there is a moment at Tyhhranosis 1:39:40 with V4 where it doesn't cause knockback effect, but I suspect the tyhhranoid enemies getting a health boost, which may raise the threshold for knockback, but after acquiring the V5 upgrade at 1:40:54 the walkers start getting knocked back again, until later at Blackwater city's defense mission at 2:10:48 the walkers don't take any knockback again. And on a side note, I did another video while back regarding the NG+ modes and in PS3 version of UYA I used a debug code to get the N60 storm on Veldin and it DID cause knockback on the walker enemies while being at V1 (link here with a timestamp (0:47:03) ruclips.net/video/BV5TmQMqob4/видео.html ) but in NG+ same planet the N90 Hurricane did NOT cause any knockback on the walker enemies as they had way more health in NG+ mode ( ruclips.net/video/BV5TmQMqob4/видео.html ) and while I don't have any footage of shooting walkers with V6, V7/V8 definitely does cause knockback on Blackwater City's defense mission's walkers ( ruclips.net/video/BV5TmQMqob4/видео.html )(though I think it might be a combination of the Shockmod and the projectile damage, but might be speculation if the ShockMod causes knockback or if it's damage amount based)
Let's just say after speed-running the game on a N60% only category a while (which is "start normally, then buy N60 Storm and beat Qwark only using it on Florana" as fast as possible), I wanted to see if a pure N60 Storm run would be possible... ...and here we are xD
the crystal farming was done to gain experience for the weapon and gather at least 40k bolts as we need to spend 500,000 bolts at the end for the armour and the PDA (each cost 250,000 bolts, and especially as we skipped Aridia, where we could have easily gotten the extra bolts). The other reason for the farming were to earn XP for the weapon as we need to have N90 Hurricane when we fight against the warship on Daxx at 1:53:11 (or what I learned when I did test runs as you "might" not have enough ammo to fight the warship with V4 N60 Storm or you need to land "every shot" as there is no easy way to get back to the ammo vendor during the fight).
