    Honestly, changing the lowercase a and b to 1 and 2 on the Wii Remote was honestly the best choice, since I feel like having both a capital and lowercase set of the same two letters would get confusing

      APersonNamedJune I agree, since there are certain inputs that require you to press buttons to do certain actions and that would be utter crap if I had to press A or Btwice but the game wouldn't respond because I didn't press the RIGHT kind of A or B.

      I still have that with the L/ZL and R/ZR buttons on the switch. My brain is trained to think the Z buttons are at the front like on the Gamecube controllers but they're not. It's been 2 years and I still have to look every time I'm asked to press them.

    wii didnt need to have DVD functionality but it would have been nice and I would probably keep using it today as my go to DVD player if they had done that. Its funny they didnt include DVD functionality bc of how "consumers already have 2 or 3 DVD playback machines in their home" but the Wii was *certainly* the go to Netflix streaming device for many many consumers in the U.S.
    Netflix on the Wii was simple, the wii-mote was a more fitting controller for basic dvd watching compared to an xbox 360 or ps3 controller. I grew up with almost all consoles from the n64 on and was often confused or hesitant to press any of the buttons/sticks on those controllers when watching a DVD because you NEVER knew what would happen. hitting that right trigger might send it forward a chapter, fastword at 2x speed or 8x speed, or it might change the screen dimensions. It was a puzzle and i often just stuck to pressing the A or X button and hoping i wouldnt need to do anything other than pause it during a movie viewing.
    EDIT:
    Okay I get it! You can mod a wii to play DVDs whoopdeefuckingdoo. Good for you. I don’t care how easy that is. It’s not a built in function and we are talking about a console that is no longer produced. The fact you modded your wii to do something doesn’t impress anyone and doesn’t change any of my points. Your average person isn’t going to take the time to google how to mod their wii for that functionality. They probably aren’t using a wii at all anymore.

Lack of this or missing that WILL catch up with them. I wish CEO's would actually think about the customer for a change and stop saying dumb thing like Miyamoto and Reggie did. @@CarloNassar For one, the lack of ratings for a game on the eShop. At the very least with a browser you can jump out and actually see ratings for a Nintendo game written by others. Two, ALL consoles (minus the PS5) have at least a basic browser. Even the 3DS did and so did the PS Vita and it predates the Switch by 6 years. You can also download wallpapers from the net, still read and browse articles. So why is Nintendo taking a step backwards? Because of the admittedly compact operating system and lack of memory? Are they afraid you browse the net and find a game on the eShop sucks and you won't buy it? Isn't that choice? They can at least offer a browser download as an option with the disclaimer "This app may cause a drop in performance". So many options are being deliberately left out and neglected as if Nintendo wants to keep their Switch to "just kids and teens". Considering most of it's buyers are adults, shouldn't they have more choices?

      _So many options are being deliberately left out and neglected as if Nintendo wants to keep their Switch to "just kids and teens"._
      That's a weird statement, given all the M-rated games that came out on the system and how the features you bring up don't exactly cater to a demographic.
      _Are they afraid you browse the net and find a game on the eShop sucks and you won't buy it? Isn't that choice?_
      Why should *anyone* be afraid of it at all? What kind of crazy person forms an opinion over reviews in the first place, besides back when Blade Runner had its first weekend in theaters? The way to actually see what you'll think of a game is by purchasing a game and playing it for yourself. The same goes with watching movies and TV shows. While on the subject of browsing the net, people are able to do that on Windows and Mac anyway, and they have a lot more things they can do with a keyboard and mouse (making music, making entries for homework assignments, and other important stuff).
      _They can at least offer a browser download as an option with the disclaimer "This app may cause a drop in performance"._
      Oh yeah, good luck with that solution. Hacking is a big thing in video games, and people will find whatever ways they can to get away with pirating. Heck, it's possible for people to just ignore such a disclaimer, and only real results would tell us if it happens. I wouldn't count on it turning out smoothly.
      The guy from Spawn Wave goes even further about browsers, and his reasons could also apply to the PS5, which you say also doesn't have a basic browser.

    • @deathstrike
      @deathstrike Год назад

      @@CarloNassar So your calling people "crazy" because they find a review on a game and make an INFORMED decision? So you just blindly buy a 60 dollar plus game and heaven forbid you would like to find information on it? Well fortunately YongYea, Upper Echelon Gamers, and a dozen other sites don't call it "crazy" to hear another opinion. And I'd like to add that there a LOT of discussion on Nintendo's failings in the game industry from MANY reputable creators. And as for Nintendo making it more a "kids and teens" console, why don't you look up the PC equivalent game with a similar MA-17 rating and see there is a HUGE difference in what is shown? There is a lot of censorship in M rated games on Nintendo Switch (and also on Sony as well). So it is not a "weird" statement at all. They know their demographic is the younger set despite the fact more adults purchase the console. And that's really a contradiction because if you are an adult, why can't you choose what rating you want? Why is there censorship for adults? Not on PC and kids use those too. And with that question, you are assuming that someone even has a desire to own or game one a PC or Mac. Not everyone who games uses their PC and simply opt to use a console because it's more convenient and does not require an often elaborate setup and it is the latest generation while their PC or Mac might be older. And many are just happy with their phones, or might just choose a Steam Deck or the upcoming Logitech Cloud G which streams games from XBOX GamePass.
      Also, the hacking bit has already been torn apart because everybody knows the Switch has long been hacked!! Linus Tech Tips showed Android working on the console. And why do people care about if a console is hacked anyways? There will always be hacking and no amount of security or software will ever stop that. In fact look it up, Nintendo is going to start using Denuvo on the Switch. This is Ring 0 tech and it is intrusive, performance breaking ,and by the way? It was broken the day it was announced!!! First it's 2FA, then Denuvo, then Captcha then what next? I think hacking is the least of Nintendo's worries considering it has inferior networking ,relies on P2P connections, their emulation is a joke, and NSO is still a garbage tier service compared to GamePass or even Playstation Essential or Playstation Premium.

    Man, that RALLY sucks that they had to scrap the duel cartridge slot concept from the DSi because a few people were concerned about its SIZE rather than focus on the convenience of not having to worry about having a separate case with you all the time when going out. That just sounds so petty! It would’ve been a MAJOR selling point for me over stuff like the camera and microphone too! If the Switch Pro, or whatever it ends up being called, becomes an actual reality, they HAVE to revisit this concept and make that a reality. If anything, it would’ve made that model worthy oh the Pro moniker.

    The GameCube controller holds a special place in my heart, and it has some of the most satisfying triggers on a controller. Nowadays though I prefer something with less travel as a shoulder button. the only thing holding the classic GC controller back from playing modern games is it needs a fourth shoulder, second menu button, and clickable sticks. The layout of the face buttons does also prove to be a problem for a good chunk of games that expect you to have your thumb over B and Y at the same time

    How is it debatable about the game cube controller. The xbox is just a copy of it with only minor changes. And it's so popular it's the first and only controller that can work on 4 systems. The xbox, xbox 360, xbox one , ps3, ps4, switch controllers only work on one system. The ps1, ps2, and Wii controllers all work on 2 systems. It is a standard and is by far the most popular controller.

      Xbox controllers seemed to take more inspiration from dream cast controllers imo. Also ps4 controllers work on ps3.

    • @theendofit
      @theendofit 5 лет назад

      @@KingCrowley999 take a closer look. The dual analog stick placement is the same as the gamecube. Look at where the orginal location for the white and black buttons were right over x and y spot. The only thing that was like the dreamcast was its ugly bulky shape....which they quickly changed the current xbox one controller has a near identical shape to the gamecube one and looks nothing like the dreamcast. nintendo made the dpad, Nintendo made the analog stick, they are the ones that were first to almost every innovation in gaming and yes alot of times failing at them but at least they were trying. Xbox while a great powerful system with good games has never done one innovative thing. When they made their first controller they wanted 2 more buttons then the gamecube had but apparently could not think of names for them and just panted one white and the other black. Who does that? Theres a reason they were removed in the 360 and one. Your buttons need names so you can communicate to the player about them.
      And sony is not a lot better on the innovation front as they only try one thing every few years. They just copy paste the same controller over and over(other then the ps3 e3 beta controller they all look identical yet are purposefully made incompatible)
      And yes the ps4 controller can work on the ps3 but they did not make it easy to sync and the rumble does not work. But that still only makes the ps4 controller work on 2 systems. And I'm willing to be you that the ps4 controller will not work on the ps5 probably "because" they change one button on it again.
