Go to the Dr with that nail and get them to put a hot needle in the nail - it will that the pressure off it - my father years ago when he did that on the farm got a hand held drill bit (the old fashioned one you turn by hand) and put it in his mouth and drilled a whole in his nail (jamed it between two bits of steel)

That, or have the Doctor deftly use a scalpel to thin the nail above the blood blister before draining it with a needle. Irrigating it afterwards is a good idea to reduce the risk of infection. I’ve had this done several times without problems.
Also, as the nail grows out, you’ll likely trim out the portion of the nail no longer attached to the nail bed. Covering it with a fingertip band aid until the nail completely grows out normally, is also helpful.

If it’s any consolation my boxer broke my finger at agility this week!!! Dogs 🤦‍♀️😩 Hope your finger soon feels better. Good luck for your sheep scans too 🤞🤞
