I've wondered before so I thought I'd ask. Why do you lamb so early? I always thought of the lleyn as an outdoor lambing easycare with wool type of breed.

There are a lot of farm sales and a lot of New type sheep breeds x types

Good logic on selling the extra tup lambs. I think it's always best to have customers wanting more rather than having too many and not being able to sell them. It's not good marketing to take them to a sale and then no-sale them and bring them home, not to mention the added expense and wasted time. Good job Will!

Hi, do you think that the economics of sheep farming are changing?. Sheep meat being a considerable amount dearer surely means some grain feeding makes entire sense. Do we expect our holstein cows to milk solely from forage, no. Do we expect our continental beef cattle to finish on forage alone, no. Does this make them bad and unpopular animals, no. Although I don't entirely disagree with all your comments about uk bl,s, i still think they have some good commercial attributes given a chance. If you have to run another breed down to promote your own its a poor do.please remember that very good people have been dedicated to this breed for a long time. Finally its a dangerous game dissing your mrs,s sheep. 😂..

Followed you for a while , i like your content, but feel i must rant.... Ive kept sheep for the best part of my life, i know sheep will do well with good practice and management. But this continual gripe about keeping a pedigreebreed of sheep (that arent even yours!) is i feel unfair. To introduce new stock whether pushed or not onto a overly sheep populated farm, theyre going to be up against it...All new sheep .Every September you go to tup sales and see tups so full they cant eat any more out of the over filled ad lib trough....and they will and do melt. Bfl are well documented to not fair well in wet cold conditions, so people who keep them manage them. To compare bl to lleyns is like using a chihuahua as a guard dog, yes it could in theory do the same job as a rotty but a rotty is best suited. They are big sheep, they are a rare breed, of course they are going to need more . ....and then to blame the uk breeders..... Blame yourself , for either buying them, keeping them, or not managing them well enough, .

You are right - over feeding is a problem especially with the rams which ends up being a disaster also didn't know it is sophie that owns them - wish her all the best with them and gets them one day to out preform the Lleyns.
