I never found meaning in a job, I always found meaning in the things I did between jobs.
Imagine a world where you don't have to conform your creative power to the control of capital? We would work for ourselves as opposed to the goals of society and create true equality without a real limit on potential for those who still aspire to work and "rise above" the rest.
If it could be done safely, then YES I absolutely WELCOME a time where we as humans won't have to work as much anymore!!! Then is when I could stop driving a bus and have more time to work on my art, music, make my indie video games and always be traveling!

What is going to happen when suddenly millions of people are being fired to be replaced by A.I. and none of this "general income" or whatever the hell its called is set up and suddenly you have millions of people who cannot afford food or rent?

Then the AI will be worthless because no one will be able to buy anything it produces, either way the system will 'correct' itself in some way or another.

They are doing it for years now as a test to see how people are reacting to a life where working is forbidden, but just receiving monthly income. The world is preparing for it behind the curtains. Why you think they want to limit everything with this green idiocracy. Where we go what we eat, etc. Plus control over our finances, general income would be very hard to sustain because there are many people who like to gather but because the money will expire and it always recycle so to speak its not unfeasible. There are gonna be a few companies in the world that are gonna control everything we need and done.

Nah, this is like industrialization. Try making a million frozen pizza each day without it, impossible, or you would need thousands of people. In this case it's highly likely many many people will lose their job.

We live in a very hydrating time, to say the least
I hope I get to enjoy this optimistic new world. I will create endless music without need for a record label or anyone else’s input and find plenty to do without a job. It’s wonderful to imagine a world that is not so limited in its definition of meaningful use of time. Work giving meaning to life is a lie sold to us all by the Industrial Revolution.
AGI is not the end of history, you will have to figure out :
- how to allocate resources (should we invest to go to mars or to improve life on earth)
- how to resolve conflicts (between countries, cultures, political groups)
- how to control access to knowledge and power (you cannot let everyone do anything with AGI)
and much more

We'll all have electronic credits and be participating in the economy. Years ago when I read UN Agenda 2030 going on about eliminating poverty, homelessness, and people having career/financial troubles, I didn't believe it. I guess by 2030 there is going to be a universal basic income with the option to work for more credits good for steaks, luxuries, fun, and non-essential things like cool toys. I'm OK with a society in harmony here everyone has housing and not sick over unstable employment and the struggle to pay bills in hyper inflationary economic cycle we have now, but not OK with eating bugs and weird stuff. Wish the reset could ensue now for lots of people need help.

AI is a great potential tool to assist in our jobs but to think of it replacing all human jobs is again a joke but it works better when both complement each other. Just like humans alone can’t run everything and invented robots, so it is with AI. It’s not safe to even think that AI will do everything without human supervision and monitoring and we all have to leave our jobs to AI. Definitely, what’s human will even more come to the fore once AI establishes itself as superpower in all sectors but that can’t be understood as humans being wiped out completely from the job scenario!
He’s not worried about his own job? Well, neither would I be. No one is going to give us an allowance or free UBI kibble (let alone a “Universal High Income” without something in return; likely political obedience or something.

I'm all for AI! BUT what so many do not get is that if no one works no one can get paid. Where is the money coming from? Yes, yes, the rich; but soon the rich will be poor as well and then what?
It's simple: You work and earn money.
if I sell food, you buy it and I pay taxes.
Now, if you have no job but government gives you money, you keep buying food from me.
I keep paying taxes, government keeps giving you money, you keep buying food and the economic model keeps working (if you can say it works now).

Why would the wealthy pay taxes just to have a some returned to them in spending? I don't see the UBI model working, to me it just turns into ultra wealthy becoming feudal lords waiting for the peons to die out so they don't have to support them.

I'm all for AI and want it; just that no one is ready for it. And WW3 is likely to start over it. Just re-read you statement and you may get the idea why.

Government handling money (almost ) universally is already implemented in Mexico. Single mothers, students at most levels of education, people with disabilities and the elderly have been getting a monthly payment from the government for the last few years and the world is still spinning here.
However it's not without issues, that's true.
Political opposition and rich people all are against this "universal aid" system and some economists warn that it might cause a major economical disaster to Mexico in the upcoming years. Only time will tell, but so far we are an unwilling field test that shows UBI might work in other countries. If that holds when applied worldwide, that's another question.
And war, well. Humans don't really need big excuses for that, right?
@@ronilevarez901 Yes, not debating that but for you to pay taxes you need to be making money. And that is the issue here. NO one will be making money so NO can be paying taxes to support any system. One day we all will be 'forced to work' for no money as money has no value -- more or less.
