I've said it once, I'll say it again; This man NEEDS to be the default Ameritrash reviewer for the Network. He just GETS the genre and he doesn't let clumsy minis get in the way from his reviews. His overviews are the best on the network and he always delivers a review in a calm and well collected manor. Keep up the exceptional job, Rob.
Good review, but i notice some wrong in The beginning. Deep track... When you Move your heros marker over growing drept or blood splatter you Will not take any card. Just The darkness marker Will.
Rob, great job getting the Dice Tower to finally review this game! I bought this last Christmas and it sat on my shelf for 3 months before I finally decided to put the models together. Once that hurdle was cleared...AMAZING! It's all I play these days and to be honest, it's all I want to play!
Great review Rob! My son picked up the Swamps of Death base last summer and along with my cousin and future son-in-law we began playing (very wrongly at 1st) and we loved it! Then as we learned more correctly how play it got even better. We add City of the Ancients base around Thanksgiving - just mashed both together and figured how to roll for which adventure we were going on. We all love how going to town can be an additional game after the Game, healing injuries, curing mutations, buying new equipment, cashing in bounties, ...Wow! Just recently added Frontier Towns expansion and looking forward to more.
Great review Rob I've been trying to buy the base set for a long time, and most stores are out, but I'm in no hurry. I really look forward to playing this game with friends. Thanks for your in-depth analysis on this one and on the expansions. :D
Rob, This game throws an incredible variety of different situations at us. There must be skill in knowing how to build and provision a character. It's obviously necessary to master the basics of combat. But what other opportunities are there to become skillful in playing the game? Strategy? Tactics? I'm worried that this game is mostly about immediately reacting to the next surprise. Thanks in advance for your response! - toby
Love Rob's reviews. Always no bull$hit like a guy you play with every week is telling you about a game he just got. I always feel like I can trust what he's saying. Keep up the great work buddy!
You could stay for more than 6 days in the town, as the counter resets after every event. So if you roll an event it goes back to a one (and begins to count up again from there). Great review, although I do disagree with you about the rule books. If they had a good index then they would be great, but as they are, you can get lost in all that detail.
rob THANK YOU!! for putting this on the dice tower FINALLY!! I love this game. Me and my group just went to lvl 3 so gonna need to add an elite ability now to all the mobs :( lol but i cant wait for the challenge. love your review, keep up the great work. and man your right about the core box minis they are a pain. but the gameplay more than makes up for it.
Rob, I really enjoy your reviews. And I'm very glad you're working with Dice Tower, playing marathons and so on. Maybe someday you'll replace Jason for good? ;-)
First of all: thank you for this wonderful review! It helped me to clear some missunderstandings I had with the rules. I really love this game. But now that we've played ist a lot I was thinking about a new game like Silver Tower. What are your thoghts on that?
I've never put miniatures together before but I found the base games really easy aslong as you used the right type of blue. But they are still fragile. As for the game...it is like the game doesn't want you to play it with all the dice rolling, the defense of monster resetting on every hit, and unbalanced nature for odd number of players. I want to like it cause there is so much good stuff here, but the gameplay is off.
I really want to find a game like this that I'd like but frankly when you look at those character and monster cards with all the boxes and various numbers in them and all the dice rolling its like the game comes to a grinding halt and yanks you out of the world you are trying to immerse yourself in every time you encounter something and then have to deal with it. Glad I saw this video it convinced me not to get this. I like the idea of a western dungeon game though when I first heard about this game it sounded great.. It's just the execution isn't very good. I'm also turned off by having to assemble this little miniatures and then having to paint them because I'm not good at that so that would be another massive detractor for me.
Awesome job, Rob! I've been on the fence about this one for awhile now. How would you personally rate this compared to Descent 2nd ed. and Imperial Assault? I enjoy those games, but I don't love them as much as I want to, and I can't put my finger on why. Does this game have what those seem to be missing perhaps?
thinking about buying this game and i hear its got a really immersive storytelling element, but nobody ive seen has covered it so far..could you clue me in to that a little bit? i dont mind a little spoiler, i just need to know if theres a good story here
Ypu got most of the rules but there were some done incorrectly. Saloon girl would roll 2 dice for her to hit roll, and exploration tokens are flipped over at the end of the turn, not right away
Just played my first non-solo game of this yesterday. I realized its one of those games that on just shouldn't work on paper. Roll to move, terrible (core set) minis and lots of things to keep track of. And yet the theme and feeling of adventure just sucks you in.
i know this video is older but i want to know how you guys store these type games after you put the models together and punch out the pieces? i just bought this game at gencon 2018
And I know this is an older comment... But laser cut a case, my man. Once you figure out how you wanna divide it all up, you can quickly throw some form of storage case together in something like Fusion 360. Then ship it off to whatever local company who can cut it for you. That's what I do for all of these games that can't hold it's own content ;)
+robert oren Well, you can order it (only) from their website. It's damn expensive but with your gametaste and your love for miniatures it's a must-buy for you!
Too much randomization, bad mechanics. But the magic and organically generated storytelling of pen and paper is definitely there. Make of that what you will.
Fully agree this is one of the Best games Ever in the rpg dungeon crawler. I, like you am a sucker for these types of games and my closet looks similar to the your shelf behind you :) - excellent review.

I confirm!
Good review, but i notice some wrong in The beginning.

I'm glad to see the DT finally reviewing this game. And I'm even more glad that you really enjoyed it.

Ah, now I know why Tom didn't review Shadows. Thanks for telling us Rob!
You can use the optional move rule to mitigate the dice for movement. 4 spaces each turn.
More reviews by Rob please.
Roll/move can be replaced with a fixed limit (which they have implemented in their other games ie. Touch of Evil, Fortune and Glory).
Great review Rob!

You don't have to roll to move, it's in the rule book, you can just move the same number of spaces.
That's an alternate rule. The base rules say roll for movement. That's also one of the main ways to recover grit
Very good review. Shadows of Brimstone is a great game, glad you took the time to do this video. Keep up the great work.
Rob
You are doing a great job. You are a fantastic Addition to the dice tower!
Great review Rob I've been trying to buy the base set for a long time, and most stores are out, but I'm in no hurry. I really look forward to playing this game with friends. Thanks for your in-depth analysis on this one and on the expansions. :D
About time DT has a review for this game.... Great job!
Rob is the best part of this channel! More reviews please
Rob your my hero! Finally a review. I knew Tom would never do it :-/

Saloon Girl vs. Tentacles, eh? Sounds like Hentai to me...
Love Rob's reviews. Always no bull$hit like a guy you play with every week is telling you about a game he just got. I always feel like I can trust what he's saying.

You've got a better memory than me. I'll always be thumbing through that book hunting for something. :) Still a great game.
This guy has a gift for this. With a little more practice and maybe a script/preparation, he could be amazing to listen to.
rob THANK YOU!! for putting this on the dice tower FINALLY!! I love this game. 14:35 And "THAT'S A LOT OF DAMAGE!"
Great video for a great game I love playing this game to. Well be playing this tomorrow.
Rob, I really enjoy your reviews. And I'm very glad you're working with Dice Tower, playing marathons and so on. Maybe someday you'll replace Jason for good? ;-)
+robert oren you've earned them ;-)
Rob, will you be doing a Myth 2.0 review?
great review, you should do a top ten miniatures/dungen crawler list!
First of all: thank you for this wonderful review! It helped me to clear some missunderstandings I had with the rules. I really love this game.
But now that we've played ist a lot I was thinking about a new game like Silver Tower. What are your thoghts on that?
Never played this but it reminds me of A Touch of Evil. Looks cool.

Would you recommend getting the Cave of Cinders OR the other base set as a 2nd purchase?
Hey Rob, now that it’s been a few years, how do you feel about this game? Really liked your videos on dice tower!

Rob Oren you are friggin amazing!!!!!
Needs more views.

In your opinion, are the rules to this game friendly for beginner gamers?
+Itthumyir Personally, I would say they aren't beginner friendly. We keep finding rules that we missed. But it's still worth playing.
+Tobyn Manthorpe Agree. After about 4 day-long sessions i think we're just about playing the rules correctly!
Best board game.
Beautiful looking game, but it so much like so many other games out..
Rob, you need to get Kingdom Death: Monster.
+robert oren Well, you can order it (only) from their website. It's damn expensive but with your gametaste and your love for miniatures it's a must-buy for you!
Too much randomization, bad mechanics. But the magic and organically generated storytelling of pen and paper is definitely there. Make of that what you will.
Cheapest, worst quality miniatures. Too much dice to roll. Poor customer service from Flying Frogs.
Too complicated
What's so bad about miniatures....
Fully agree this is one of the Best games Ever in the rpg dungeon crawler. I, like you am a sucker for these types of games and my closet looks similar to the your shelf behind you :) - excellent review.
