Love it man! Mine is being installed today or tomorrow. I like the Reagan Bush 84 shirt. It’s always great seeing people take pride in the American flag! 🇺🇸
Great job guys with the video production and the flagpole installation! I own a flagpole business so it's nice to see fellow patriots raising their flags across America!
im getting a 25ft internal black anodized delivered in roughly 4 weeks. ialready dug the 25x44 hole to prep.. PITA.. but about the install.. what kind of sand do i need.. just homedepot multipurpose sand?
I can’t get a decent flagpole up here without paying a lot for freight. I have about a 15’ spruce pole on a bluff people can see for quite a ways. The pilots lands at the airstrip down the road like it also. It blowing about 20-30 mph now.
Just ordered a 25 internal Washington series from them with a 5x8. Nervous about the size being too small, thanks for the review. The eagle on top is a must!
Doesn’t get anymore American than building a place to fly the American Flag with your family. Showing them how important the American Flag is and what it actually means. (the perfect country we are still working towards) Plus your Buckeyes fans so pretty much you’re raising your kids almost perfect! GO AMERICA and GO BUCKEYES!!!
Great video! By the way no need to cover the concrete with a tarp when it is raining and it sets. The water wont hurt it in fact a lot of concrete jobs end with covering it with a soaking wet burlap blanket. That said if it were a tropical storm.. I’d prob just cover it with a moving blanket so the aggregate stays in place. Awesome video i am installing mine tomorrow!
the Eder sleeves that are standard are 36 deep with a 6 inch drop to the base plate. you need 42 inches total and 12 inch lightning rod goes all the way in. your flash collar should sit flush to grade. you want to bury the CMP { corrugated metal pipe} flush with the ground. external halyard are nice. good job.
Yes well said. But we actually left the ground sleeve / CMP exposed a little because we wanted to add river rock to make a nice mulch bed with plants etc. The flash collar is now flush with the river rock.
Why put all that to just put a 25 foot flag pole up? I ordered 2 last week and it comes with the pole and it says to put the pole in hole with some concrete but says nothing about the other stuff. It just doesn’t seem like doing all the other stuff is necessary
Watching to see how they put that flagpole up and it was like putting a toothpick in a gap in your teeth. I guess that's the difference between aluminum and the 30' steel one I made trying to figure out how to put it into the hole. 🚶♂️🚪
For a 25 foot pole it is a pretty standard hole. The founding is 3' foot 6 inches deep. And then the grounding spike goes even a foot deeper that that.
@@backyardmayhemusa probably because you have a commercial pole. I have installed many 25 ft residential 3" diameter poles.24" deep, 16" wide hole. 5-6" gravel. 4-60lb bags of concrete. Never had any issues even in the northwest coastal areas. I do love your location. good job.
@@garylivingston9052 ahh gotcha, that makes sense. In general we just followed the manufacturers instructions for installation. We are doing a 50' pole soon. The pole is sold as 55' and you bury 5 feet + 1 ft for the grounding plate. Will post the video once it is done. In general 10% of the pole goes underground from what I know
Originally I thought the same way, but if you leave a little slack in your halyard the rotating truck will actually rotate 270 degrees while being tied to the cleat. All in all, this reduces the stress / wear and tear on your flag.
I forgot to mention....rotating truck only works well on external halyard if your cleat is on the side the wind is most commonly blowing towards. Otherwise the rope will always be fighting the cleat / putting more stress on your flag.
First thank you for all your help on your video. We live on Lake Erie also have you had good results with your flag and flag pole if so could you provide me with your purchase information Eder company??? Would you have a product # you would share. Thank you
Just out of curiosity what size flag is that? 4x6 or 5x8? I recently installed a 25-ft pole and decided the 3x5 flag I have is too small for it but I don't know if 4x6 will be enough of an upgrade. I'm seeing varying tables of sizes for the flags. A lot of them say a 25-ft pole can handle a 5x8 flag
This is a 5x8 flag and I think you should get it. I'd rather my flag be too big than too small. Just for reference, we are getting a 40 foot pole soon and plan to put a 15x25 flag on it even though they recommend that for 60' poles and above. At end of day its all just personal preference and don't get caught up in those tables too much.
@@backyardmayhemusa What I was looking at the tables I thought that their recommendation wasn't based off of appearance but wind resistance. I'm getting some stronger rope than what came with the flagpole pretty soon So it should be able to handle the larger size no problem
No, purchased from Flagpolesetc.com . I requested Eder flagpole from them. I think they carry two manufacturers. If you have a preference you need to tell them which one you want before ordering.
I did a bunch of research and found this company to provide the best price and service: flagpolesetc.com/ . Let me know if you need help picking a pole!
@@backyardmayhemusa Thanks for doing the research! What specific series Pole did you get from FlagPolesEtc (residential, commercial, internal halyard)? They have a ton of stuff, but the 5" base and 25' height looks close to what I want. Thanks for the info!
@@IRONPete64 Little late on this, but we got the "25ft. x 5in. x .125in. Aluminum Commercial External Halyard Flagpole". We wanted something that looked beefier than a normal 3-4 inch base flagpoles. 5inch is a sweet spot! Don't worry about the wall thickness unless you live in a very windy (hurricane & tornado) area I liked external halyard since i like the look of the rope going down the pole. Make sure to request a rotating truck this will help rotate the flag at the top and reduce stress on flag. Some say there is no point to getting rotating truck with external halyard, but don't listen to them. If you are worried about the flag rope getting tangled up as the flag rotates then get the internal halyard. My external halyard (with rotating truck) get me around 320 degrees of rotation for the flag. However if you want endless rotations of the flag, you need to get internal halyard.
doubt it, we will see. This is direct from flagpole manufacturer with alloy 6063, rust resistance, anodized properly. With minor yearly maintenance, this will last my life time with little to no rust.

Really well done video and it turned out beautiful. Just ordered a kit on amazon and looking forward to doing this project

How deep is the foundation of the flagpole?
Nice job.. Go Bucs!
Amazing
Just needs a solar light for it . Love mine
Where did you order pole and sleeve from

What size flag did you use?
Joe McClure they said a 5 x 8
Good job. One question, what is the purpose of a rotating truck if the line is tied to the cleat?

Nice project for the boys. Love the Bush/Reagan T too! Hey - did you consider a fiberglass pole? If so, why did you choose to go aluminum?
We did not consider a fiberglass pole. There is something soothing about hearing the clanging of the flag and clips against the metal in the wind.

What did you use to connect the ends of the line to each other, yet still have it go through the pulley? Thanks!

How big was your flag? I’m installing my pride flag at my house and I want it to be this size?
5'x8', the perfect size for a 25' pole in my opinion
what is the name fabric of the american flag?
5x8 embroidered nylon flag on a 25' pole
Teared up a little 😥🇺🇲

filming a 50 foot flag pole install soon. Will be sure to go slower. And we have the proper equipment now haha!

when we made this video we didnt have lights. We took the flag down at dusk. Now we have 5 solar lights on the flag letting us fly it 24/7!
