- Special video of our triple seven approaching and landing at São Paulo Guarulhos, in 4K with two viewpoints for you to enjoy.
It was a very windy day at Guarulhos, and the conditions to land such a heavy and big bird like the triple seven werent the eastest.
The first officer did an outstanding job, I was rather impressed with his performance.
Let me know in the comments what you think of this video and landing, always interested to hear your feedback.

As a retired BA 777 pilot I can only say what a great landing . Loved South America.
Thank you very much for watching and your comment captain! I’m sure you would have a few fantastic stories to tell us all after a career like yours.
Best regards, Dominic
as a retired stamp licker for Carlton cards in Kmart , I would say kudos to the pilot-- ive had years of experience watching these you tubes
What incredible picture quality. At the start the scenery was so crisp and the light balance so even I could have sworn it was a top notch simulator!
Watching from UK, retired pilot. I really enjoyed this video and well done to the FO for an excellent landing in those conditions.
Thank you very much Robert. I am
Very proud that many of my subscribers are pilots, retired pilots, or in the industry in general. I don’t have to explain it to you, why this landing was challenging- you just know by looking at it.
Thank you for your comment, support, and wish you a great day!
Cheers captain, Dominic
@@dnhug many thanks
The part that makes landing in strong cross winds is not the wind itself but rather the turbulence that any strong wind generates. I was impressed that the pilot flying kept the airplane on a stabilized approach, on speed, on center line and on glide slope. That is the reliable way to achieve safe landings of all kinds.
I could not agree more with you!
Thank you for watching, cheers, dominic
I give you pilots a lot of credit for what you do. You must have nerves of steel to be able to land those big airliners with all those passengers on board in all kinds of weather. You’re amazing. Keep up these great videos, they are so well done.
Thank Pu so much for the feedback Lucien! Very happy you enjoy the view behind the scenes. Just a regular landing to many, for us it is acknowledging the guys up there who do this fantastic job unnoticed by most of us, especially during challenging conditions like seen here.
Thank you so much for watching and commenting, I hope you have subscribed for more videos like these from all planes Swiss has in its fleet! Best regards,Dominic
Been following you for many years, always enjoy your videos.
Ha Ha Ha That was sure a quick taxi to the gate there!!!! Other than that though 'Great 'Landing!!!
great job capt i am an l-1011 guy but i have a big heart for the 777 i miss flying
Welcome to my hometown :D
Very challenging, and a great job!
Il let the first officer know! Thank you for watching! Best regards
I enjoy this format ... especially the introduction.
Glad you did, thank you very much for watching and your feedback. Best regards,Dominic
Wow, the F.O. did a remarkable job! Great landing under those conditions. I'm really enjoying your videos and I like how you mark the runway in your video. Kudos to you and your airline for letting you film in the cockpit. So many airlines still do not allow their pilots to film, especially airlines here in the U.S.. keep up the great work.
we just dont publish them...🤫.....🍻
Thank you for sharing your flight here. Yes, it is a nice to come into San Paulo, BR with the 777s. I have flown down on the 767s as well.
Really nice video! Thank you for recording it! It is very nice to see the app!
Nice landing guys👏👏
Nice! Thanks for posting!
Sweet landing. Thanks
Good luck with your chsnnel.
Lucia
Wowsers!! I'd say the heart rates were high after that landing! Amazing to watch and kudos to those pilots. Great video and description my dear friend, many thanks for sharing!
Now 28L, 28R and 10L, 10R ...👍🏻
What a spectacular day in Sao Paulo. Very unusual to have that clear air. First time viewing your video. Very well done. Have flown the 76, 77, and the 787 to GRU. Enjoyed it immensely, but glad it’s all behind me. Is the EZE-GRU always done with three pilots with your company?
Such a beautiful day to fly, although the wind is no joke.
The handheld camera in the cockpit needs some serious image stabilization or a big clamp. It exaggerates buffeting so badly that if it was real, the plane would break apart.
The scenery camera is awesome.
Good job! The magnitude of the yoke control inputs on short final was surprising.
fantastic video
Great video - particularly liked the inset extra camera angle by way of contrast.
Like for Airbus✌️

A quick check of the underpants would be in order after that. Great job by the pilots!
Great video! I am doing my Type Rating on the T7 as of DEC. Looking forward to flying this beauty!
Congrats and enjoy! It is an absolute beauty to fly
Awesome! I’m sure you will have a great time on the big girl! Best wishes, dominic
Nice video can't believe I have been subbed to you for over 5 years now crazy how fast time goes by lol Cheers from you're Fb friend Jason Robert
Sorry to be an armchair aviator here, but I have been in some pretty tough landing conditions, worse than this one. I remember one landing coming into JFK on the Canarsie approach with crosswinds in a B747, the plane was just rocking from side to side, and the braking was so strong that the whole plane shuddered down to the smallest rivet, and everything unsecured went rolling down the aisles (bottles, cups etc). Was glad to get out of that plane in a hurry.
I’m sure that was a hell of a ride! Especially on the canarsie approach!!
I didn’t want to say that this is the worst conditions you can have, but for many years I haven’t seen such a challenging final approach on our big girl like this one. Thank you so much for your comment, and for watching of course! Best regards, dominic
@@dnhug Thanks for posting such interesting videos for the aviation fans.
Nicely done! Wish were able to record and publish our trips here in the States.
Nice !
Wow. Good job. Dominic, coub be possible a video with the panel camera? Final adjustmens are worth to be seen in detail. Thanks, anyway.
Nothing more annoying than the captain covering the controls of a fully qualified first officer
Great video, thank you. Enjoyed seeing the view from the approach not used so often. It appears the exit taxiway is further away from the slowing point in this direction so wonder if ATC have to increase separation when landings are on 27L.
It is almost sad that the video can only show the aileron and elevator dance on the very challenging final approach, when the rudder and spoiler inputs are not a visible part of the dance to the successful landing. Bravo for the excellent approach and touchdown in challenging conditions!!!
Holy crap look at the corrections! Why did the captain have his hand on the yoke?
Definitely sporty…👏👏
The first officer was on fire! 🔥
Previous 737 experience?
Nicely done. The hand held made it look worse than it was, the stabilised camera in the window made it look smoother than it was... on average it looked as bumpy as it was 🙃
The planted landing was good, no trying to flare in a smooth one, exactly as it should be in gusty weather. Interesting to note the almost immediate PIO after the autopilot went off though - not uncommon. It still surprises me how late the autopilot goes off in modern airliners, especially in gusty weather. Armchair airliner pilot here would like more time getting a feel for it before having to land it ( I fly aircraft with autopilot but no approach/auto land capability).
😅nice landing,i have flichtradar 24 standard here on mine comp,Dom. thanks for the amazing landing,so as useal. greetz:🍐Peer.
👍👍👍👍👍👍👏👏👏👏👏
OMG! - Did you feel seasick? 💖🙂
How many NM (and how many feet) out did you disable autopilot? Awesome feat! ;)
I think in this video it was around 5-6nm out.
When established, upon the pilot in command to decide.
Thank you very much for watching, I hope you have subscribed for more footage coming! Best regards, dominic
✈nice you fly the B.777.300ER.the plane is flying good, almost no turbulence,i can now it from oktober wachinton dullus from Schiphol airport.😅
Why was the Captain's hand on the yoke also? It looked like some pilot induced roll oscillation. Perfect weather. Was crosswind 20 kts? Max demonstrated is 38. Not the most challenging landing by far.
The design side load for the landing gear is 80% of the design vertical load. Since the maximum coefficient of friction for jetliner tires on runway surfaces is about .5. Which means that the maximum side load that can be imposed on the landing gear is about 63% of their capability.
Thus, you could land wings level in a crab and let the landing gear straighten you out.
Very interesting information indeed!
Thank you for this comment!
You can indeed land in a crab up to 40kn crosswind as boeing says in the manual , but the landing gear won't really straighten you out by itself , of course inertia will help but most of the work comes from the rudder. You need to use it exactly like you would when de-crabbing before touchdown, with upwind ailerons if needed to maintain the wings level.
What was so challenging here? A terrain is pretty flat on final approach. At the airport where I work as tower ATCO there are mountains more than 2600m hihg just a few miles away and the elevation of the airport is 300m.
Let me ask you, when do you gear down?
Usually 7nm out.
Thank you for watching and commenting, glad you enjoyed!
@@dnhug Nice! Thank you!
Good stuff, last time I was at GRU VARIG and Pan Am were still around, feel like crying.
We all feel like crying when talking about varig.. what a great airline it was. I remember as a kid seeing the proud md11 at Zurich airport rolling out from
Rwy16 in the fog. The Brazilian flag on the side of the nose, one would wonder about that far away land Brazil.. if I would have known that my wife would be born there, and my kids would be half Brazilian one day..
And Pan Am.. the first time I was in a 747SP cockpit at JFK as a little boy.. happy days indeed.
@@dnhug Very nice, I am Brazilian from Sao Paulo, been in USA for decades now, Chicago. I am retired but worked in telecommunications systems for airlines, Swissair, Lufthansa, SAS, British Caledonian , Varig, Pan Am, Braniff, etc. I too flew in Pan Am 747SP later taken over by United after Pan Am failed. Sounds like you have a nice life, I'm so glad for you, best regards to you and your family, and, stay healthy, Abracos a todos voces, de KORD!
👍
Thank you Robert!
Pilot gets a workout.
Indeed! Thank you for watching! Best regards
Search for Congonhas
Best: search it on my channel! I have several videos from cgh, LATAM cockpit footage from my holidays.
Even SDU! Have a great eve and best regards
Difficult approach, looked very thermally. Perhaps a little bit of PIO in there, especially between 400ft and 300ft but there aren’t many pilots that don’t have PIO in conditions like this.
How do you know if it's PIO?
The video is great but the honestly if captain doesn't trust and wants to take control, just take it. Don't like this 2 hands on yoke.
Why do many foreign captains have a hand on the yoke - you were definitely manipulating it. yes company rules...i understand...but FOs have to learn from mistakes and correct it themselves.
What crosswind? No yaw to line up on touchdown. A bit gusty perhaps, but look at some of the landings at Madeira if you want to see "challenging" crosswind landings. Sorry, clickbait!
That was challenging??? Try Paro, Tenzing-Hillary, St. Barts, or Courchevelle… Then tell me about challenging.
Do you also land there with 30knts of crosswind?
That was challenging, and if you flew yourself, you most likely would see it yourself Sir.
Best regards.
Agreed!
@@dnhug I am a pilot and I see no crosswind at all, let alone "challenging"!
Yawn.
He was so of the line up approach, look more like an error to me
or in other words, a typical landing of which there are thousands per day. Foo0ls
