- This is an early timelapse test-sequence of a Canary night sky at Roche de los Muchachos (La Palma) in 4k. The Milky Way was tracked with a Ioptron Skytracker V2. While shooting this sequence I took another one - a static composition of the north-western night sky with my Sigma 15mm f2.8 fisheye lense.
The sequence consists of 667 single RAW frames taken with a Canon EOS 6d and Samyang 14mm f2.8 (Walimex, Rokinon). Exposure time was 25 seconds, 30 seconds intervall at 5000 ISO. Наука
Absolutely spectacular
This is so great!
phenomenal
Excellent Time-lapse Video! Good job.
Thx. It was a long night... (:
Very cool!
Just amazing
Amazing, well done! Just ordered my Sky Tracker.
Mace Moreland Hello and thank you. Best regards
Sehr guter Zeitraffer, ich hab auch eine 6D und das Samyang und freue mich schon auf den Neumond anfang Mai. Hoffentlich gutes Wetter, beste Grüße
mindblowing
Excellent timelapse video !!! Can you share with me how did you setup the movement of iOptron ?
nice work
Interested in what tracking speed the mount was set on? I got to try this with mine.
awesome, I got the same setup, love the ioptron skytracker, I just ordered the Rokinon 14mm this morning
the Samyang 14mm is a very good deal
wow ang lufet bro.. ♥ galing
Ang gandang ulit ulitin ng video mo boss
Hi, nice work!. Did you use the x1 or x0.5 speed for that one ? Looks like x1 ...
todormishinev Hello und thank you. 1x
I am confused... the tracker seems to move on an azimuthal direction and not right ascension. On a polar aligned equatorial tracking mount objects in the sky should appear motionless while the foreground moves. Anyway, this is a beautiful timelapse, nice work!
SP97 hello and thank you for the comment. In this case I used the skytracker just as a horizontal tracker
Please explain to me, if not too much trouble.. I have a Sky Guider Pro and I align it to the polaris, not to get trails etc. I am trying to understand what you mean by using Skytracker as just a horizontal tracker.. Thank you.
Is this at Palomar? Just got the Skyguider pro and am headed up to Palomar next weekend.
Just found this searching for Ioptron - I'm planning to buy a Skytracker for my trip to La Palma in April :)
Would you recommend this device for still photography? I'm not sure if the Skytracker is the best choice (Astrotrac and Polarie seem to be good alternatives).
In 2014 I took some unguided shots on top of Roque de los Muchachos and was sent down by personnel of the observatory. Any hints on how to deal with them and how to avoid interfering with the work of the observatory in general would be also appreciated.
Hello Nerdbert, yes I can recomment the Ioptron. In my opinion it's better than the Vixen because it has an polarfinder scope. The Vixen has one too but you need to detach it after finding Polaris. With the Ioptron you can re-adjust even with your camera attached to the device.
You can reach Roque de los Muchachos also on some hiking trails - that is what I did. But do not use any white lights....
Best regards
+MF-SkyScapes thanks for the advice! In the end I ordered a Skywatcher Star Adventurer because it seems to be at least as accurate plus it comes with more features (at roughly the same price).
I'll use the hiking trails as you suggested. I hope I'll get a good chance to practice before I head to La Palma.
Best regards!
+nerdbert Take a look at Google Earth. From LP4 you have quite a short walk to the Isaac Newton Group of telescopes. But again: be careful and don't use white lights. Best regards
How did you get 4K while shooting with the 6D??
this is a timelapse, which means he shot hundreds of images one after another (one image on frame) and then made a video from them.
So this represents roughly 10 hours in real-time? (If I did the math correctly). Impressively beautiful!
Yougimpytube Hello. Yes, it was a long windy night up there (:
Hi, It took your setup 10 hours to capture 667 images. I'm curious to know how long it took you to edit them into this great video ? :-)
using LRtimelapse the photos will be synced so the workflow is quite quick
It would have taken about 5 hours and 30 minutes. 667 shots X 30 seconds = 20,010 seconds. 20,010 / 60 = 333.5 minutes. 333.5/60 = 5.56 hours. Not the most elegant way of doing it, but it is correct. :)
@@aaronjenkin Yes, but you just forget the 30 sec. interval...
what was the ISO and camera?
Hello. Shots were taken with a Canon Eos 6d at ISO 6400.
Best regards
MF-SkyScapes Awesome did you use a star tracker? I am about to buy a 6D :D
+Pabla Digital Yes, I used the IOptron Skytracker
Hello. Please read the description. Best regards
what is this music? =(
Music from 'Hector Thunderstorm' by Tim Schutzinger
+MF-SkyScapes thanks mate =)
