Bird Domination!!! Great run, Squidgy! When I first caught this Pokemon in Scarlet, I thought: "What a goofy looking birb." But then it continued to slay everything in its path, and stayed on my team until the end of the run! Thanks, friend!
@@Squidgy I can see why Crystal is your favorite-it’s amazing for challenge runs. I mainly do Pokémon Red and Blue runs, and it's been awesome to see what unique challenges these older games offer. Backporting sounds like a fantastic way to even more fun. I’ll have to try it out someday! :)
I remember the day Scarlett and Violet came out. A buddy of mine came over after his work day (i was unfortunately still unemployed at the time). This was one of the first Pokémon he caught in the game, along with Charcadet. I was so jealous I couldn't find one lol
Have you done a video on the back port sabeleye you have on your website? I played through it as it is one of my favorite ever Pokémon! I’d love to watch you run it to see how it does! ❤
Hey! I did a stream for Sableye but I never created a video from the stream! I'll be bringing it up to date on the challenge run base before doing a video at some point in the new year!
@@Squidgy I can't wait to see it! I love your content and how you do your runs! its so entertaining and also informative as well! keep up the great work!
Thanks Daniel! I've started work on the improved Sableye Backport! If I haven't linked you in a few days' time, feel free to drop me another comment on whichever video's most recently out and I'll make sure it's uploaded
The new backport is uploaded onto the website - it's a much more in-depth backport! Sableye's full Gen III learnset is in, as well as Egg Moves and Gen 1 TM moves - both available from the tutors in the 2nd floor of the Pokémon Center
Have you considered designing your own fakemon for a run? Set a limit on BST but everything else is fair game. Appreciate it would take a while though Edit: we welcome a new member to the one shot Karen's umbreon club - it's somewhat exclusive I was watching you around 2 years ago and there is no question that your voiceover has become better and 1:30 was considered an amazing and almost unbeatable time
I don't like Flamigo, it's a very uninspired mon. But damn did it slap in this run. By tye way, have you considered doing a run with a lvl 100 mon from the start just to see how fast is it possible to finish the challenge just from a mechanical standpoint? No grinding, no collecting items, not moving second. Only return to skip superefective text and some coverage like earthquake. I'm just curious what would be the fastest you can humanly perform a run.
Hey! That's a very interesting idea which I hadn't considered before. It'd probably be something I'd do over on Twitch as I'm not sure it'd be very RUclips appropriate, but if I get some spare time I'll absolutely give it a go once I've settled on the right Pokémon to go with.
Backporting can be fairly in-depth, but everything you need is available (or linked to) on the Pokémon Crystal Disassembly: github.com/pret/pokecrystal/
Honestly, I don't think a sub-hour time is reachable for any Pokemon. Look how fast Squidgy has run through the game, yet it wasn't close to a sub-hour. Squidgy did it all extremely fast. For me, the sub 1:10 is more than excellent! Furthermore, I think that's as best as it can be.
I don't like that you're writing me off so quickly, mate. Sub-hour is absolutely possible, in my free time I've done a couple of redos and ended up with a 1:02 and a 1:03.
@@Squidgy sorry, Squidgy, but what do you mean by saying that I'm writing you off Squidgy? I'm not a native speaker I don't really understand all the contexts and expressions. But anyway I didn't mean at all that you are not capable, right the opposite. If you say it's possible I do believe. I never meant to underestimate you. It was just an opinion.
In this instance, "writing off" would mean to assume something before it's been attempted. You're assuming that 1:00:00 or below is impossible with the way I play the game, although we haven't seen every very strong Pokémon yet.
I don't understand that argument against the later generations - it's been a thing since the beginning of the series. Seel, as an example, is just a seal which is off-white with its name respelt.
Hey! A huge reason I backport Pokémon is to demonstrate the power creep that's come in through the later generations, and the process of backporting the moves is something I particularly enjoy. In the early days of backporting on the channel, I got together with a few mods and other challenge runners in my Discord, and we agreed that backporting later gen moves was the right play. Otherwise, you'd just be putting a different skin on something which is most likely already available in Gen 2 :)
Bird Keeper Squidgy wants to battle.

There is only one Liar with the Flyers, Lance. Type? Pure lies
Lmao that backsprite is so goofy. Poor beaktile dysfunction.
I love how goofy Flamigo is!
Such relaxing videos for times of stress. Thanks Squidgy
Bird keeper squidgy is a great name.
Its honest unlike a certain liar who just needs to be true to himself and acknowledge that he loves him a flyer.

I was exactly the same!
I definitely underestimated the power of Flamigo, until I had it in battle a couple of times!
Taunting Umbreon in the last video, and now one shotting it on this one. Must feel great.
It was VERY satisfying!
Just found your channel. awesome to see more people doing solo runs especially for crystal! This was a fantastic video!
Hey!
Thank you for your very kind words! Crystal's definitely my favourite game to challenge run, and backporting has opened up endless challenges!

I wonder how hawlucha would do
Hawlucha's like Flamigo but worse. The lower attack stat means there are more ranges, but it's still a very solid mon!
Squidy the flying type specialst. It's interesting how well the flying type does in this generation. Great video!
Hell of a run Squidgy
Yay! Love Flamigo!

It's funny you should mention that!
I was in a Discord Call tonight talking about maybe doing some fakemons/Digimon runs over on Twitch!
Prime example of Gen 9 power creep
5:58 I'll pick up here later, I got to get back to work.
You're well on your way to becoming the next Liar with the Fliers, Squidgy.
16:00 oooooo 69 nice... but ya missed the nice 😞
Flamigo is gonna Fuddy Johto up
Flamigo is a modern legend.
People think it's supposed to be a flamingo, but it's actually a roadrunner.
BEEP BEEP.
It must be a range to 1 shot Scyther from full health with Peck. Still, no problem with Bugsy.
Hell yeah
Ah yes, the liar with the not flyer

FFFAAAAARRRRRTTTTHHHHEEEERRRRR! ... oh wait, wrong video.
This is why I hate the later gens. The pokemon are just ridiculous. This one is literally just a flamingo that's red without the letter n in its name
It’s from the Hispanic-inspired region. Amigo! Friend! It’s a flamingo that’s also your friend! The beauty is in the simplicity.

As fun as this run was, I think it was a bit unfair to backport moves from after Gen 2. what chance does the AI have without the same moves?
