Would love some videos where you discuss the feelings in your golf swing. It looks so efortless and with a beautiful tempo. Cheers for your videos, huge fan!
Hello Michael, I have Wilson D300 irons in my bag. Being a 20+ handicapper I look for forgiveness and distance which I get from those clubs. I saw in your full review of this Wilson utility and you are right they have only come out for right handed players. I have written to Wilson to see if and when they will come out with the lefty Irons as I find them beautiful and It would be a great addition to my set. Great video as always! Keep up the great work!
Was going to ask you this very same question yesterday on the review vid of the Wilson utility. If it's good enough for Gary Woodland.... it's good enough for Mike Newton 🤣🤣😂😂🏌️⛳🏆
I've been gaming WS Model blades this season, and play WS Model Utility 18° and 21°, I just picked up Mizuno MP-20 MB's and included a 3 iron HMB.. after 18 holes.. the HMB is gone and the Wilson 18° is back in the bag, regardless if I play the Wilson blades or MP-20 MB's the Wilson Utilities will be in the bag..
Hit the Staff yesterday have to say they are sweet! Play the MP5s Staff is softer longer and more forgiving on the toe! Next year is a bag rebuilding year lol!!
Wilson Staff has always been top tier golfing brand. They have been in golf over 100 years...I play the FG Tour 100 irons and the model utility.......not going to knock the bigger golfing brands as in the world of sporting goods Wilson is at the top but Staff golf equipment is as good if not better than the top 3.....in irons....not drivers and hybrids but their irons have always been right up there in quality...check out the v6...rated higher than the TM p790...
As you mentioned maybe graphite shaft makes it easier to hit🤔. More and more you see graphite in longer (utility ) irons. P790 UDI project X black, U500 project X smoke shaft. I use the MP20 HMB 2 iron but with recoil shaft. For me it makes sense to go to graphite in those very long irons. You don’t use steel shafts in woods so why use them in a 2 iron if you have a choice....Really like Wilson irons also but the MP20 HMB 2 iron matches up very nicely with my MP18 irons😜
I picked up the HMB irons this year, mostly due in part to the high launch and high spin numbers. Sadly, I do not have the 2 iron HMB. After watching this, I might be nabbing the Wilson!!
Michael, only a month ago you tested the Mizuno HMB 2 Iron and had ball speed of 146 resp. 147! It is probably the shaft selection which doesn’t suit you. Great tests, however!
I can hit all the utilities well as long as I have the graphite shaft I like in it. Thats very different to the driver, were the head has so much to say.
Do you have the same shaft in the 2 iron as you do in your regular irons? Many people go lighter in a driving iron shaft, what are your thoughts on that?
Do you know if the HMB is available with a graphite shaft? Don’t believe it’s a stock option. Currently experimenting with the HMB 2 iron with Modus shaft.
Interesting Mike i play c300 forged and am looking at this wilson 2 iron to match but also looking at ping g410 5 wood as i will only play these off the fairway. What's your thoughts i have g410 driver and 3 wood so not sure which way to go? 🤔
Michael every time you do a club review you say you have them set to your preferred lie angle of 2 degrees upright, that would suggest all manufacturers use the same lie angle for their so called standard lie which is not the case. Surely this will impact on your strike and ball flight.
The Wilson is bigger all over, has much more offset, is made of different materials and has a graphite shaft...it couldnt be more different. The only thing the same is the 2 on the bottom and even then, its in a different place. You might as well of hit a carrot on a stick for a comparison...:-)
You are comparing apples with oranges steel vrs graphite Gr shafts more hight More distance More spin A lot lighter shaft gives around 2mph club head speed
Good ol fashioned spanking to Mizuno....Wilson staff has been in the iron game over 100 years so no shock here...Wilson staff if simply better......you can't touch their irons....just too damn good and priced nicely. Check out the new Model Wedges.....just ordered 3 of them....
Wilson irons have to be the most under rated products in all of golf.
they are trying to build back from being the biggest name in golf and then cheapening the brand selling crap at low prices in discount sports shops
If wilson made a full set, with the same look.
They would definitely be in my bag, whether I could use them or not.
That club is WOW 😍
Wilson launcher
Looks like Wilson have a real winner here, and it looks fantastic. Great review thanks for your efforts.

A little surprised that the Wilson was so much the better club. Nice review. Your bag now has another Wilson in it!
Was going to ask you this very same question yesterday on the review vid of the Wilson utility.

Already looking forward to trying one - probably a 21 degree. I game an MP18 Fli Hi at moment and my irons are Wilson V6s.

Definitely gonna give this one a try looks the business 👍

Even with a 2x4, you would have good results. 😋😋 i think the graphite shaft does the difference. They are getting bulky and looks more like and hybrid
its the club face, he's swinging the wilso 1mph slower
Great review again - thank you Michael!
Santa is gift-wrapping it and it's on it's way to Mr Newton

graphite is better in all clubs it just taking forever for the average gofer to realize
Put that bad boy in the bag Mike!!
Great video. I'm getting myself a utility iron, and both the Wilson and the Mizuno is in my considerations. I think i will go with the Wilson :-)
Good choice!
Hi Mike can you put the Wilson 18 degree up against the Titleist same loft with graphite shaft cheers Peter
Great, I have the FG-17Tour blades from the 1970. It gold shafts, still performing well. Glad to see this result. Is this one forged or cast?
Curious to see how HMB would do in a different shaft.
Will you be doing a Mizuno MP20 blade vs Wilson Staff Model blade review ? Thanks!
Lovely looking club Newts great review 👍
Dang, seems like a legit weapon.
I picked up the HMB irons this year, mostly due in part to the high launch and high spin numbers. Sadly, I do not have the 2 iron HMB. After watching this, I might be nabbing the Wilson!!
Mike you love the wilson do it switch now that thing sounds awesome and looks the buisness 👌
And I just bought an MP-20 2 Iron 🤷🏼♂️🥳
how about the wilson vs TM UDI?
I assume the Mizuno is forged and a regular 3 iron distance and the Wilson has a hotter face, explaining the extra yardage???
Mike why don’t you do this comparison with a graphite shaft in your HMB?
Because I don’t have a HMB in a graphite shaft
Michael Newton Golf but you work at a golf shop/fitting center! :) Surely that capability must be there.
Michael, only a month ago you tested the Mizuno HMB 2 Iron and had ball speed of 146 resp. 147! It is probably the shaft selection which doesn’t suit you.
Great tests, however!
Nothing feels like a Wilson!
Would love to see these hit with more similar shafts in them.
The extra ball speed is from the club head face its not the shaft making the Wilson longer as te swing speed is 1mph slower
I can hit all the utilities well as long as I have the graphite shaft I like in it. Thats very different to the driver, were the head has so much to say.
i would love to see you do a gap test of your bag!?
Four weeks ago, you hit the HMB much better. Just put the damn Staff iron in your bag already.
Play Wilson D9 Forged with a Wilson Staff 2nd Iron.
The Wilson looks great lovely brand, would it be ok for a high handicapper or would you suggest another brand for forgiveness. Super review as always!
its a very forgiving club
Michael Newton Golf Thank you Michael will have a look at it.
Mike, What's in your bag?
Do you have the same shaft in the 2 iron as you do in your regular irons? Many people go lighter in a driving iron shaft, what are your thoughts on that?
I tend to go graphite, prefer the lighter feel in the longer shaft......
What about their hybrids newts ?
Hey Mike, any chance we can see the Wilson vs 2019UDI ?
On my list 👍
@@MichaelNewtonGolf I have the last gen P790 and the Staff Model Blades. I'll be over here on bated breath.
*P790 UDI 2i
I have hold 2 irons apex plus it feel amazing i think its 1999 set of iron😁
Do you know if the HMB is available with a graphite shaft? Don’t believe it’s a stock option. Currently experimenting with the HMB 2 iron with Modus shaft.
Yes through custom graphite shaft is an option....
Interesting Mike i play c300 forged and am looking at this wilson 2 iron to match but also looking at ping g410 5 wood as i will only play these off the fairway. What's your thoughts i have g410 driver and 3 wood so not sure which way to go? 🤔
Depends what you feel more comfortable with and which is most consistent, go and try both 👍
Mike, did you try the Mizuno in a graphite shaft, when you were measured?
I didn’t to be fair, I opted for the steel through my choice and liked the lower flight at the time
Which one would be the most forgiving, one of these 2 models, or the Ping Crossover G410 or Titleist U510? In your opinion.
All much of a muchness to be fair
@@MichaelNewtonGolf meaning they are all the same when it comes to forgiveness?
Yes pretty much
Odd that a higher lofted club produces more ball speed from less clubhead speed. Did you hit the Wilson better ?
Slightly better but didn’t expect that jump in ball speed
@@MichaelNewtonGolf It seems to me to be a testament to the quality of the design as well
Michael every time you do a club review you say you have them set to your preferred lie angle of 2 degrees upright, that would suggest all manufacturers use the same lie angle for their so called standard lie which is not the case. Surely this will impact on your strike and ball flight.
How tall are you? That Wilson looks like a pitching wedge when you line it up
6’ 5”
The Wilson is bigger all over, has much more offset, is made of different materials and has a graphite shaft...it couldnt be more different. The only thing the same is the 2 on the bottom and even then, its in a different place. You might as well of hit a carrot on a stick for a comparison...:-)
Steph Hamilton actually the Wilson doesn’t have 2 on the bottom. It says 18... for degrees. so even that is different!😂😂😂
Just bought the HMB 2 iron last week... time to sell that and get the Wilson haha
🙈
interesting how the hmb is 0.8 toe up, while the wilson is 2.4 toe down. Hmmm...
As mentioned in the video, the HMB is fitted for me (2upright lie 1/2” longer), the wilson isn’t as an early sample
You are comparing apples with oranges steel vrs graphite
Gr shafts more hight
More distance
More spin
A lot lighter shaft gives around 2mph club head speed
Dont hesitate to do a Wilson give away those some sexy club's
Simply simply luvleh
Mizunos has softer face while Wilson uses miraging steel=longer.
Good ol fashioned spanking to Mizuno....Wilson staff has been in the iron game over 100 years so no shock here...Wilson staff if simply better......you can't touch their irons....just too damn good and priced nicely. Check out the new Model Wedges.....just ordered 3 of them....
No way mizuno is the next level way beter than titleist
Want to sell the mizuno? 😂
What is even the point of this video? Honestly speaking. Love the content. But this is not even close to a reasonable comparison lol.
Lo8io iii to be too soon I love 💕 iuiopjp Koo I good with UI will have the best time with your in it
why does anyone care if gets in ur bag not like you play any events.
Seems like a lot judging on the comments!
Quite funny youtubers work for very little or free means companies dont need press release worked out great for golf brands this youtube stuff.
@@scottishgolftour7677 your watching lol
Please stop saying Hatch when saying HMB, it's pronounced atch, but I love your reports.Keep it up but check your pronunciation.
What? 😂
@@MichaelNewtonGolf Well done Michael!!!!!!
If we are being pedantic, then it is "aitch" not "atch". Lol
I typically like your content, but this is the most worthless head to head test I've seen on RUclips.
