    Your strategy is wrong if your waiting for orders, not many people go wow I need a glasses case as when you buy glasses they come with a free case. Make what you see sells in your local area. When you get items that demand exceeds the amount you made, prioritize that item and contact the rest who missed out and ask if they are willing to wait and you will make to order for them. I have noticed customized wallets sells well as does custom picture frames and end grain chefs blocks. That's how you build reputation and get new bespoke orders until your side hustle becomes your main hustle.

    'Wear glasses' Realize that the only glasses remotely effective are $1500 glass lenses. The typical cheap plastic glasses won't remotely stop enough energy to make you eye safe on a direct strike or reflection.
    Cheap and easy to get a good camera, and an extra monitor. Truly block the system, and do your watching through the video link. Then you're actually eye safe.
    Don't take my word for it, do your own calculations on how little energy it takes to burn dots into your retina, how much energy is in these laser beams, and that the pass energy on cheap glasses is way, way too much to stop eye damage from Watt range lasers.
    Don't get me wrong it's some help and will cut the extra scattered parts of a beam etc and better than nothing, but it is not nearly the protection people think it is, it's like 1/100th of what you need to stop the main beam. The high power diode laser is extremely strong, even a tiny pass percentage is still well above eye damage power levels.
    Just be aware you're risking slowly degrading vision if you're not operating through a video link. Same idea as welding flash over time, you'll wake up one morning later on and wish you had taken correct steps to protect your vision.

More options and ‘bespoke’ would should upmarket? Finally, they appear a little bulky, any where you could slim them down even a little? Could ask a small premium for one or the other?

    Super cool video! I am looking for a new laser engraver as I engrave wood as a hobby that is slowly turning into a real business... I was wondering if this laser automatically calculates the space to engrave or if you have to do all these steps manually. The thing is, I have gone wrong with my current laser and having my engravings slightly off center, which is SO frustrating.... Even a visual of where the image will come would be a huge added bonus....
    I also, mainly, engrave in wood, in your opinion, would this laser be the one to get or is there another version that would also suit my needs? Maybe a less expensive one?
    I am liking the multiple objects you can engrave with this version very much and I'm even thinking of expanding my business to other materials next to wood...
    Long story short, I really liked your video, you come across as an honest guy who is not getting paid to sell this machine. So am hoping I can get your feedback on the questions I have. I'd like to thank you in advance for reading my message. Have an amazing day! Regards, Rose

    Great video which I really enjoyed. I hit the LIKE button and subscribed. I have a question. I live in New England just south of Boston MA. My workshop is out in the yard in a nice building that I converted into a shop. Naturally I have electricity but the only heat in the shop is from my wood stove. Now, in the Winter we tend to get some pretty cold days and nights. Naturally during that time when I'm out there I fire up the wood stove and it makes things really comfortable. However, when I'm not there, the inside of the shop gets very cold! So, what I'm wondering is, will this laser cutter/engraver be harmed by cold temperatures? I hope not because I'd really like to get one but I've got to make sure first. If you or anyone reading this knows the answer, I'd be grateful. Thanks!

    • @TheSwedishMaker

      no, for that you would need a fiber laser. A diode laser only engraves softer materials. In some instances you can mark metal with a diode laser but it wont actually engrave it.

    • @davidorf3921
      @davidorf3921 2 года назад

      Absolutely works but you cannot stop the edges being chared, also you then have the tedious task of removing the masking paper, it normally comes off easily from the smooth side of veg tan but is a pain to remove from the rough side, a honeycomb base helps as soot deposits on the back are significantly reduced if not cutting on a solid surface

    how long does the diode last? Which lasts longer? diode or CO2?

    • @GGGeeerrryy
      @GGGeeerrryy 2 года назад +1

      Diode lasts longer. About 20k -30k hours. You need to service CO² lasers more often. With diodes you get acceptable results but to the cost of time, it will probably stay as a hobby. With CO² lasers this is another story. You will get your cut or engraved products faster but the machines are pretty expensive, big, complex and heavy. Perfect for dedicated profit based workshops. Efficiency for Diode is about 25-50% and for CO² its about 15-20%. Diodes are maxed out at somewhere 60Watts (50W or less is more often). CO² lasers...well you can weld with some of those if you catch my drift here (nonetheless wiki says 80KW).

When looking for CO2 laser they don't advertise the CO2 tube must be replaced approx. 5000 hrs ranging from $300-2600 depending on the size. Anyway i seen and know people with these diode lasers that have no issues, yes there slower and under powered when compared to a CO2 laser, but they are much cheaper and in my opinion are more of a multipurpose machine when compared to a CO2 laser.
