We lived around the corner from the Williams' in Sugar Salem. Nate was a young man at the time. We were expecting our 7th child during those years. We had decided that if our child was a boy, we would name him Nathan, Nate, after this terrific young man. We hoped our son would be like him. We moved about 3 yrs later. What a blessing to see Nate again and hear of his love for the Book of Mormon and the gospel. We chose wisely. We're listening now fro Fruitland, Idaho.

Maybe we should consider the Book of Mormon as a letter from our Father to us. I find joy in the thought.

Love, love The gentleness in brother Williams voice as he shares he thoughts. His curiosity about possibilities of spiritually growing into discipleship inspired me to ask more questions and compare verses in the BofM to highlight and ponder what Mormon is trying to show us.

John’s “brace for impact”statement caused me to remember this statement from Elder Maxwell(sorry for the long post) : “Once again the Book of Mormon and modern revelation give us the guidance we need so that we are not taken out of our places by too much concern over what on the landscape of history may after all be a very temporary thing, real and menacing though it may be. In the Book of Mormon is a verse I wish I fully understood, but which I draw to your attention. It is 2 Nephi 28:19, which says “the kingdom of the devil must shake.” It is a very intriguing verse. I do not presume to know what this redemptive turbulence will be like, but it will be such that a few people now caught up in that generic kingdom of the devil will be “stirred up” and find their way out and into the kingdom of God. I don’t know how that will happen, but it will happen. I rather imagine, and this is sure speculation, that there will be in this redemptive turbulence some jarring inconsistencies brought to the fore-jarring enough that they will cause some people who are caught up in the subsets to leave and find the truth. As prophesied in the Book of Mormon, full of portent for Latter-day Saints, there will be real turbulence…”

I agree wholeheartedly. My husband is not interested in doing Come, Follow Me. Rather, he’ll read the scriptures with me but doesn’t want to discuss them. I miss weekly Sunday School discussions as well as the strength I receive from sharing with my sisters in RS. I’m finding other ways to address those needs though.

Thank you for this episode. In particular the insight around being an antiChrist does not mean that one teaches that there isn't one, but also includes failing to teach His doctrine correctly.
Also, the reminder that for agency to exist, it requires different consequences for different choices! So, to destroy agency doesn't mean the elimination choices alone, but can include the elimination of consequences.

In Luke 4:18-19, Christ formally began his ministry by reading which says that he is anointed "to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;(Isaiah 61:1). Then we also read in D&C 138: 30 But behold, from among the righteous, he organized his forces and appointed messengers, clothed with power and authority, and commissioned them to go forth and carry the light of the gospel to them that were in darkness, even to all the spirits of men; and thus was the gospel preached to the dead. 31 And the chosen messengers went forth to declare the acceptable day of the Lord and proclaim liberty to the captives who were bound, even unto all who would repent of their sins and receive the gospel. The message of deliverance is replete with the message of deliverance.

During this episode, I started to think that there seems to be a chronological parallel between the Lehites and Americans today. It starts off with leaving a home country, a splitting of the family (British and Americans), and ending with the peace in the land after Christ's appearance, which can parallel the millennium. 🤔

Yes, that sounds right. I was thinking either he thought that it didn’t matter because we’re all going to be saved no matter if he killed Gideon. Or he was protecting something more than just ideals that he didn’t want to lose. His new income does point to that
