"......is an American film....". I actually love that this isn't take for granted. I love the general international perspective of these awards. Yes.... the films are from all over.
@arthursanford3706 I agree with that. It is just a point I make that films that live solely in the horror genre, or at least that's majorly how they are classified are completely ignored for awards. Kathy Bates, for example, is said to have won and Oscar for a horror performance. How? That was a suspense, a thriller, a drama. But horror? Misery? I don't get it. Just because it's based on Stephen King's novel doesn't make it a horror film. Sophie Wilde's performance this past year in Talk to Me was leaps and bounds better than Annette Bening in Nyad or Lily Gladstone in Killers for example, but she has not been recognized by industry folks. I mean, I get it that it's mainly a popularity contest and mostly based on campaigns rather than the films themselves or the performances (mostly, not all). But, come on. Horror often requires so much more of its actors and crafters than something like Maestro, for example which is a snoozefest with overacting all over the place. But Mr.Cooper is lived by the industry and campaigns hard (pathetically so) while someone like Ms. Wilde is ignored. It's truly amazing how it all works. Then you get old timers in the industry bitching about streaming and super hero movies and the lack of art. Yet, they are the same exact people voting for their friends for the awards rather than. Respecting art, which shows up more impressively in horror sometimes than your usual Oscar bait B.S. But Hollywood is full of hypocrites, we know this.
Someone during live chat Said that the fans should vote. For that to happen it would at the very least require the fans to watch all the movies - professionally without their phones - before making up their mind Based on popularity, established franchises, US etnicentrism, etc.
@theclarkmaster3642 the peoples choice awards (or any fan awards) are worthless because everyone who votes absolutely has not seen most of the films nominated and truly is just the popular films that made money that get attention
@@Bullet3113 James said in several streams that it was very important to them that all of the panelists watch every nominated movie, which is why they limit themselves to 6 nominees per category and don't do 10 for best movie like the Oscars. Since everyone in the jury works in the horror space, I'd say it's pretty likely they already watched 80-90% of the movies before they were even asked to be on the panel.

the Windham Rotunda tribute hit me hard. for those who don't know, Windham Rotunda, better know by his kayfabe name, Bray Wyatt, was a WWE wrestler who incorporated a lot of horror into his performances, both in the ring, and on the microphone. he was an amazing actor and wrestler. he terrified a lot of us as kids, and he awed us as we grew up. from the eater of worlds to the fiend, his characterwork was some of the best ever in the industry. The fact that you guys mentioned Kenpachiro Satsuma means alot to me. He was MY Godzilla and I am so grateful that I got to meet him in 2018. I cried alot when I found out he passed away but I'm grateful that we got to experience him.
When they were introducing the In Memorium segment, I said out loud "I wonder if they include Kenpachiro Satsuma, probably not." Him being the first face we see started the waterworks for me, and it only got worse from there.

Every year I appreciate that in your In Memoriam, you include people with all sorts of roles behind the scenes. The people who design the posters, the scores, the stunts, everyone working so hard to make a big impact on the audience. Godzilla Minus One deserves a lot of love for its story and effects done on a fraction of the budget of blockbusters in America. But Kamiki definitely deserves the Best Lead Actor award too. He's the character that actually got me to care about someone other than Godzilla in one of these movies!
Amen to that bro
Is Godzilla minus connect to monster verse films
Truly true facts right there
Im happy how vfx technology has progressed it became accesible, I wonder how would the field would change now with AI.
@@Karlebow571nope, it’s it’s own thing
I didn't know that Andre Braugher died. That actually hits me hard. Rest in peace Captain Holt.
RIP to James B Janisse Jr ❤️❤️❤️❤️ 🕊️
That award for best kill for when evil lurks is so well deserved. My jaw dropped during that scene.
Holy crap, I'm 3 minutes in and have already seen Howie Mandel AND Robert Eggers?! This channel gets better every year; it's amazing to me that this wild journey all began with short & sweet Kill Counts of Friday the 13th...kudos to all at Dead Meat! I'm happy to be along for the ride!
13:08 WE DID IT BOYS!!! WE GOT ON THE DEAD MEAT HORROR AWARDS!!! ALL G FANS SHOULD CELEBRATE THIS OCCASION!!!!🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Really hope we get a home/streaming release announcement after the Oscars. I missed it in theaters but I badly want to see it!
WE WON BEST SEQUEL/REMAKE
I did not expect the in memoriam to get me balling like it did. James I’m sorry for your loss. I lost my grandfather (who was like my father) this past year and that whole section really got me. 😩
I'm so glad When evil lurks is getting so much praise! As an Argentinian, I'm elated to see our movies (that are not about the dictatorship) be recognized
OTRA CORONACIÓN DE GLORIA🇦🇷🇦🇷🇦🇷
It's my horror movie of the year
@@markgrayson7428 Mine too. That first and second Talk To Me
It's the one film that has shocked me in quite a while. Loved it

You left out Windham Rotunda
best sequel?
Really appreciate everyone at Dead Meat doing this, and everyone who participated introducing the nominations. I caught the awards last year, this year, and will look forward to the next.
Finally got to watch this. Absolutely loved the tribute to the ones we lost this last year.
My condolences to James, Chelsea, and your family.
58:21 I fell off this channel a while back but saw on a wrestling fan page you mentioned bray. Just wanted to say that was a true class act and thank you. Been very difficult to stay in the flow of wrestling knowing one of your favorites is no longer around. Small things like this will keep the spirit around forever. Much respect.
saw X leg bit should have won imo
The fact that this video only has 250k views is frustratingly criminal! This is peak entertainment and deserves all the praise in the world!
Godzilla Minus One deserves a lot of recognition, popularity etc
Let's go, When Evil Lurks! That scene with the woman walking down the road with a snack changed who I am as a person! 🎉
I had to rewind and pause. Then I realised I hadn't moved for a minute myself. Just stared at the screen. My favourite horror of the year
James and Chelsea, you both became just a RUclipsr couple and turned yourselves into actual horror icons yourselves. Not just with these awards, which mean so much to us, but with the work you do every day. Keep up the amazing work, and we'll be with you every step of the way.
James paying Tribute to his father really got me, I'm sure he is so proud of you James!! 🥰
As a CG/VFX artist, I appreciate the reverence shown for Digital Effects! I love all movie magic. And it's really about knowing how to use the tools and understanding how to navigate and plan toward their strengths.
as someone who also lost a dad, i sobbed when james’ dad showed up in the in memoriam
MY GOD! The production value this year!!! Each year has gotten better and better. I genuinely didn't think it could get much better than last year but boy was I wrong! WOW!!! Y'all absolutely crushed it!
WHEN EVIL LURKS BEST PRACTICAL EFFECTS LETS GOOOOO I was pulling for them to win
This award show just gets better each year. The In Memoriam is always a special part as no other award is given such a heartfelt moment...
The Zoren bit "Im not touching that" was hilarious. 😂
thanks for putting Godzilla in the dead meat horror awards and RIP to Kenpachirô Satsuma. He was in Godzilla vs. SpaceGodzilla, which is the first Godzilla movie I saw as a kid
Would be so cool to see this as a live award show with an audience one day
Happy renfield won best stunts, for a movie needlessly hated, I absolutely adored that film
I just finished watching it with my best friend and it was such an incredibly fun ride.
My nana and I saw Renfield in the theater and when I told her how hated it was in the horror community, she was shocked. "But it was so much fun! That's bs!" She said.
@marymartin2154 my dad adores the film, saw it threw times in the theater. It's certainly one of those films that really clicked for us and I'm not sure why it isn't for other people
Dark green for man cave, light green for office
Yall made me cry when I saw Windham, I miss him so much it still hasn't set in, it doesn't feel real. RIP Bray.
God that Bray tribute hit my chest like a dagger. Still doesn't feel real that he's gone.
I just found out that Howie Mandel voiced Gizmo from Gremlins and I'm having an existential crises moment.
0:21 I mean he’s not wrong
As someone who lost my dad three years ago, seeing Mr. Janise in the In Memoriam section hit me like a ton of bricks. Forever sorry for your loss.
they way i "aww"ed at the information about the dog in evil lurks
You both look incredibly gorgeous! The love between you guys are vibing.
I thought I was holding it together pretty well until Windham Rotunda’s name showed up. I immediately cried. So glad he’s recognized in the frame of the Horror genre
He should go with the light green.
I preferred the dark green! But light is nice too.
Thanks! Honestly you guys did an amazing job with this and it was so wonderful. Never stop. Thank you and your great team behind the work for your hard work
that Bray Wyatt In Memorium literally gave me chills.. i was not prepare for that... you're crying im not crying! RIP Windham, Follow The Buzzards.
Special Effects was a gimme for Godzilla, but I was still hoping for a surprise win from No One Will Save You. The SFX in that film were insane
58:32 from the bottom of my heart. Thank you for putting windham in the in memorial.
He played a special role in helping me understand and fight my demons and his influence in horror is something I’ve always loved and respected.
Also I’m wholeheartedly loving every second of this. Thank you so much to James, Chelsea, and the whole Dead Meat team!!❤❤
And then Mr.Janisse came on the screen and I’m a mess. Sending all of my love to you two. He looked like an amazing man and he deserves to be among these names for the support he brought you and without that I think we wouldn’t have these moments.
All the love 🙏❤️
So glad to see Lauren Lavera from Terrifier 2 make an appearance here :) also so so happy Alyssa became the winner she deserves it
Every year I appreciate that in your In Memoriam, you include people with all sorts of roles behind the scenes. The people who design the posters, the scores, the stunts, everyone working so hard to make a big impact on the audience. Horror as a genre is so often under-appreciated and the fact that you're honoring these people ... idk, always makes me tear up. Overall these Horror Awards are great fun and such, but I'm glad you make time to honor those people.
Lauren Lavera did a really good and unique job with her segment. Love her energy✌🏼
Bray Wyatts tribute hit hard. I'm still not over him being gone. It still hurts. RIP Windham we miss you so much. You truly are forever 😢
That in memoriam had me crying once it got to Bray Wyatt. Still doesn’t feel real to me that he’s gone.
"I am the color red, in a world of black and white."
Never met him once but I miss that man like a brother.
Absolutely lost it at the length of that straw. 1:07:54
