I felt this composition by The Pet Shop Boys entwined with the husky vocals of The late great Dusty Springfield were pure genius. It captured the depths of Scandal The Movie.
The best film or TV portrayal of the hypocrisy at the heart of the Profumo affair and one which really captured the spirit of the times. Mesmeric performance by Whalley, as all her performances were in those days, Hurt, Fonda and McKellen excellent too.
Terrific film,I was fortunate enough to have met the late great John Hurt and spoke to him about his work including this piece of art! ❤ RIP John, you was Class and a really nice bloke!❤️🌹🏴🙏🏼
This film is an epic. John Hurt is jaw dropping superb as Stephen Ward (a miscarriage of justice if ever there was one), and I’d crawl happily over broken glass for Joanne Whalley.
I have never seen this movie. And I'm a product of the 80's. First time in my life I listened to this song too, and I have followed PSB since 1983! Damn! There is still too much ground from the 80's yet to be covered.
Utterly love this song its a classic. The film was just superbly shot beautiful lighting throughout if you'll notice. My favourite part of the song is at 3:30 where Durty changes from a husky gentle dusty voice to a much harder edge. classic.
compared to the real Story, probably one of the best, ever made Movies, i Love it, and i will always Love, everything, reg, this Movie, was MADE, absolut perfect !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THX Guys !!!!!!!!😍😝🤩😘😇😜
Just heard Neil Tennant describing how Dusty recorded each word syllable by syllable, which took 3 days. ‘But when you hear the result the torture was worth it’
Haha ! I was born in 1952 ; everytime this came on the TV or radio my mother switched it off as too shocking .[Imagine applying the same criteria these days-the News would be permanently off . ] so I asked ''Who is Christine Keeler ?'' and my big sister snapped ''she 's a tart '' . to this day I picture her in a black dress oozing with jam and cream as to me that was what a'' tart'' was . Such an innocent time . Great movie -fills in the gaps in my knowledge .
Who killed Stephen Ward, available on Amazon, is an interesting book. It questions if Ward's death was really suicide. It also goes into detail about the people and the events of the time which give greater insight to just how closely the establishment and politics was linked.
Scandal. It is a sort of 'docudrama' about the relations between call girls Christine Keeler and Mandy Rice-Davies with the then War Minister John Profumo, in 1962. A Russian Embassy official was also involved. Stephen Ward was acting as a sort of pimp for the girls. The film was directed by first-timer Michael Caton=Jones, who performed an outstanding job.

I cried when Stephen committed suicide, they all turned on him 😢
He was an amazing actor, with a voice that you could listen to for hours.
Joanne Whalley, is still a knockout. Fantastic tune!
Amazing movie.
Late '80s productions were the best.

Dusty at her sultry best; as was John Hurt, both sadly missed. Great film, so utterly tragic.

Love the song. Was too young to be aware of what was going on. Left school in 1969. No matter.

Also the blonde prositute mentioned in the song, hadnt bottled out on admitting it was all lies, he might have lived.
niel you saound beatiufl here ...

Christine was basically Groomed in modern day terms and her life sadly was never happy
She knew exactly what she was doing!
@@tomkent4656 I disagree she was taken advantage of
@@tomkent4656 she was 18 did you know what you were doing at 18???
@@tomkent4656extremely poor judgment. 🔥 the old fossil fuel the very definition of said lack of judgment
