I've been using EMJ Beard Butter for a couple weeks and something just felt off about it. I am embarrassed to say I never looked at the ingredients before putting it of my face. Thank you very much for this review. You are a good man.
Old vid, but I used the same brand. Had the oil, butter, and still have the beard/face wash. I can say if you need a good wash to strip all the oils out of your beard for a good reset, the wash will do it. Loved the butter & oil. The butter was a bit more of a lotion consistency though, but did the job well. Agree about likely being unnatural fragrances used in it. Gonna use the butter container to hold the next butter I make based off of your ratios on your butter video.
The butter is awful which is too bad as the company overall has decent products at reasonable prices. The container is the best part of this product, lol.
Great review!!!! I also think the smell is very chemical heavy! glad I stumbled on your video. I am now looking into other butters with more natural ingredients. Thank you for the video!
This company has many great products, they just missed the mark on this one, imo. For a great beard butter, I would recommend trying the Texas Beardsman, definitely one of my favorites.
I was just looking at beard products in Walmart myself today. I came across Every Man Jack oil, balm and this butter. I decided to look up a review on RUclips and found this. Definitely informative and well done. My beard is still fairly new so I'm not using as much product since a little goes a long way. I subscribed because I'm still new to having a beard and want to be informed about how to maintain a healthy beard. Thanks for the heads up, I won't be purchasing the beard butter from them, just doesn't look good and sounds like they skimped on the ingredients in it which is unfortunate.
Check out my other review on their balm, oil, and wash. Those products are really good. The balm especially. The butter is terrible. Thanks for watching.
Good video. I just recently purchased this product as well. And I have all 4. I agree with you on various issues. I gather that, because of shelf life regards and the foreign attributes that can or may occur is the reason for the synthetics. In effort to still perform but allow the protection of the other ingredients to work and provide. But thank you. Well appreciated video👍
Unfortunately for me, the product did not perform well, frizzed up my beard. Their are many all natural antimicrobials/preservatives and I guess my disappointment was more due to them marketing themselves as making every effort to be natural whenever possible. Then even the wax they use is synthetic. I love their other products, but this one was off the mark.
Yeah, their butter is really wet and slimy, it's not only scientific names, it actually has some pretty nasty chemicals. However, the balms and oils are pretty good.
@@BillyWidener I dont know, they do have fragrance oils in their balm and oil, and synthetic vitamin e in their balm, personally that doesn't concern me, but the chemicals in the butter are nasty. Many of the chemicals they have in their butters are found in big brand hair conditioners. They may have just repurposed another product and called it beard butter. Very dissappointing.
I agree tried the balm and oil loved it tried the butter today not to big of fan glad some one else agrees with me what is a good butter you recommend?
Hi JD. Thanks for subscribing. There are many good butters, some have beeswax( more like a soft balm) and others do not. Some are whipped and some are not. I just received one that I really like from Kingdom Beard Company. It's whipped with no beeswax. And you can't go wrong with Live Bearded. They make an amazing butter, try the Legend scent, sandalwood and vanilla, it's amazing. Detroit Grooming is another good one. Hope that helps.
I've been a fan of Every Man Jack's other products: beard oils and wash, face wash, deodorant. I think I'll avoid this butter though based on the description of the texture and some of the chemicals. I just wanted to add... this is one of the few beard product companies I've seen that advertises as Gluten Free. My daughter has Celiac so I try to keep as much GF stuff as possible. Thank you for the review!
Hi Daniel, thanks for watching and subscribing. I really like EMJ oil and balm too, just not their butter. I think they're damaging their reputation with that product.
Blazing Beards I still have yet to use butter lol I woulda bought some when I seen it but there was only sandal wood scent And while I do love sandalwood scent, I just didn’t want another product I use once and never use again so I passed on the oil. But it is good to know that the oil is good Incase I ever go on vacation and forget my beard bag at home or something...wink wink Lol
Their oil is good but their balm is even better, the balm is sandalwood vanilla and has great consistency and hold. If I had to choose only one, it would be the balm. They also comes in cedarwood.
Blazing Beards I also don’t use much balm at all unless it’s for a review than I’ll wear for a week or so. My beard is strange man haha no amount of balm, hairdryer, boars hair brush, has yet to help with the curls and stuff or to tame the flyaways. So I don’t use much at the moment. I’m sure when it gets longer I will. I used my daughters straightener once and that deff helped a lot haha
The thing is, it would be really easy to use all natural ingredients, I think the Big Companies try to rebrand or modify existing products just to get something out on the market.
Sometimes companies also use the scientific name for natural carrier oils. I personally don’t like when they do that because I’m the same haha if I can’t pronounce it I’m sketchy about it lol
Hi Larry, thanks for watching. You are right, use what you like and what works for you. I like all their other products that I have tried, but this one just didn't cut it for me.
I bought all their products... And I agree with you....I didn't like the butter at all...it didn't do anything for my beard... I do like the oil, and really like the balm... Holds great, and smells great... DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THEIR BUTTER PRODUCT...
I can't recommend it, I threw mine away after 1 use. EveryMan Jacks othe products are great, but they completely missed the mark with this one, IMO. Thanks for watching.
Hi John, thanks for watching. I liked cremo oil and balm, wasn't crazy about their scruff cream. EMJ has great oil and balm, but the butter was awful. I threw mine away. Anyway, I'll be interested if you have the same experience. I'm a fan of EMJ, just not the butter.
@@jg90gt it made my beard super frizzy, I think it's because it's a water based butter. We all have our own preferences, so I hope it works for you. Kingdom Beard Co. Has a really nice butter if you ever want a comparison, makes mine feel amazing.
@@blazingbeardproducts2845 I will have to check them out also, now that this butter has dried I notice the frizzy, not over the top,but the scent is still strong no chemical smell but fragrant, more than any other product I have tried before.
Hi Joe, Beard balms contain many very beneficial ingredients for your hair and skin, the butters like Shea and Mango are great for hydrating your hair and moisturizing your skin, the oils have high concentrations of many beneficial vitamins like vitamin E. The beeswax that is in the balm is mostly for the styling aspect to hold your beard in place, and is usually in small quantities. My research shows that it is actually very good for both your hair and your skin. The wax serves to hold in moisture and has antimicrobial properties. It is also beneficial as an environmental protectant against pollutants and sun damage. The only issue with using beeswax that I could find was it can build up over time and could result in snags when combing your beard. Therefore, you need to ensure to use a good wash to remove it once or twice per week. If you have any research that shows that beeswax is unhealthy, I would be interested in seeing it. Send me a link in the comments. I hope you found this useful and thanks for watching.

Do you put beard butter in your beard before you use beard oil?
No, beard butter, if used, should be applied after oil or alone. Thanks for watching.

joe f balm is mostly used for the hold and does have some good ingredients for the health of your beard, but oil is for the skin underneath.
