The story of the two tv presenters is so simpler to the true story I will now tell you I was in the British merchant navy in 1967 we were one of the last boats to get through the suez canal on the east bound convoy on our way to Shanghai’ we got through but west convoy got stuck in the canal for about five years I think but any way we were sitting on the arse end of the ship having a beer and the cook was irish and we got on to the subject of wakes and he asked me what do you do in Scotland at a wake I jokingly said well the minister comes round and cuts a sliver of the dead guys arse and cooks it and divides it up and gives every one a little piece and every one eats it to always have a wee bit of the guy inside them. And thought no more about it a couple of weeks later we were in Singapore in a dock side bar and there was another British crew in the bar the cook got into an argument with a Scottish guy one of the crew and the guy said something to the cook and our cook said well maybe so but at least we don’t eat our dead the guy had no come back or a clue what he just said but I and our crew bust a gut this is a true story I’ve told it to many people over the years
