    The Smiths Everest 36mm from Timefactors...
    You see I have had this itch that I can't scratch, owning a Rolex 1016, but now one can own an homage of this famous watch!
    And let me tell you that its been now 3 days and that slow burn that many talk about with the Explorer is true... every day I fall more into this watches simple and classic design...
    How to describe this timeless design?
    Its a watch for the person that looks down at their Smith Everest on and performs a perfect swan dive off the bow of the yatch and swims to shore as they catch a wave and body surf onto the white sand, where once on shore your butler approaches with a towel draped across his forearm and in the other hand hanging from a deep cherry wooden hanger swings your tuxedo ready for the nights activities.
    You will notice in the thumbnail for the video the Smith Everest is on a stainless Steel bracelet... After tearing up my house looking for my vintage waffle divers rubber strap I came across my Steinhart GMT Oyster bracelet... 'heck, why not?' I thought...
    and guess what? it looks the part!
    I have since spoken to Timefactors.com and Mr. Platts assured me he would have the new bracelet for the 36mm end of October/early November... so stay tuned to the channel to see the watch with its new Smiths Everest bracelet, but for now I'll keep it on the Steinhart Oyster bracelet.
    Sit back and enjoy the unboxing of this recreation by Timefactors.com

    Finally someone with a 7inch + wrist thag wears small watches. I have a 7.25in wrist and 34-39 is my sweet spot. I can actually see some of the bracelet or strap with a smaller watch. Great vieeo!

    If you’re looking for a bracelet option you can get an oyster style bracelet from alpha watches that’s 20mm and tapers down to 16mm with a small vintage style folded clasp. It fits on the Smiths Everest’s end links and looks more like the classic 1016.

    Looks like you’ve got one of the last of the old models with the chunky clasp. The updated rivet bracelet is fitted on the new white dial Everest and expedition model and coming soon to the black dial Everest. I got mine in April and swapped the bracelet to a watchgecko 20 to 16 taper bracelet. Much better than the supplied one. It’s a great watch that scratches the 1016 itch. I would say more usable for daily wear too than a more delicate vintage 1016. Makes me wonder why I’ve bought more expensive watches as I love wearing this. Enjoy.

      Hello Anthony, its a great watch where I am thinking of getting another. I just dont like the new rivet bracelet that comes with the new Smiths. This is what I did. I didn't like the original bracelet either (way to massive) and luckily I have my Steinhart's Oceans vintage 39 GMT oyster and end links lying around. So I decided to test it on the smiths and it fit! It did take a bit of fiddling but eventually the spring bars clicked into the lug holes. So I I am to do it again I will order a set of end links from Steinhart along with the oyster bracelet and fit those on the case. Hope this helps! Merry Christmas and have a happy new year!

    Nice homage. Sounds Luke you are enjoying it. I purchased a Rolex 1016 new in 1986 (and a few years ago gave it to my daughter - the jeweler said as he sized the bracelet and learned she had no brothers, "lucky girl!") I bought it new with the jubilee bracelet. Check out how a jubilee bracelet would look on this watch! You'd love it, u suspect. Not bulky or modern looking. And there are plenty of homage jubilee's out there! Just my thoughts. Enjoy.

    You're right about the bracelet--it just doesn't belong on that watch. Smiths need to come up with a smaller one that tapers down to narrower and thinner at the buckle for this particular watch. I also wish the logo was a bit smaller. Otherwise, very classy and handsome time piece. Cheers!

    I am torn between the Smiths Everest and the Armida A6 in 36mm. I would love to hear your opinion. Does the Armida have a truer case design? Thoughts?

    • @RobertBlanchard
      @RobertBlanchard  4 года назад +2

      Hello Dennis, Just looked at the Armida A6 36mm... Never held one so I can't be sure but in the pictures I have seen the case does look much closer to the 1016 than the Smiths. Also the bracelet is much better than the Smiths. That said the Bezel on the A6 seems a bit bigger maybe by 1mm than the Smiths (and 1016). Now the dial. The Smiths indices and numbers are very close in resemblance to the 1016. The A6's indices are thicker and longer, and the numbers are a hybrid between the 1016 and 14270. I like the seconds hand much more on the A6 (resembles the 1016 hand) The Smiths seconds hand has always bothered me... seems off balance. All in all the A6 is a very nice watch. To the point where I would buy one and marry it with the Smiths to create a hybrid! I'd use the case of the A6 and bracelet, the bezel of the smiths and its dial and the second hands of the A6. Now if I had to choose between these two now... I'd probably go with the A6 because of the case design and maybe I would try to fit a different (smaller) bezel. Lastly, even though the Smiths and the Armida signatures are both way too big... the Armida pulls it off (balance wise) much better than the Smiths. Hope this helps! let me know which one you went with!

      Christian Glanville For me I bought this watch for the timeless design of the dial (or basically the unabtainable 1016) it scratches that itch. I will have to say that after a few weeks the Miyota is starting to play with me ... twice it has stopped at night (while wearing it) as for your sarb comparison... there is non... Sarb is a much better watch, but it doesn’t have what this one does... the Arabic 3, 6, 9 which is why I bough it.

    • @ivermec-tin666
      @ivermec-tin666 4 года назад

      @@mazrashid6549 IMO, the movement in the Sarb 033 is superior to the Miyota 9015. I have one of the latter movements in a wristwatch, and I really can't get a 40 hour reserve out of it. Perhaps the issue is that the rotor only winds in one direction. The Seiko rotor winds in both directions, so presumably it would charge up more readily.

Once I removed the bracelet things began to focus bit more. But I don’t really like NATOs in hot climates so needed a solution. Luckily I had a spare Oceans 39 oyster Steinhart bracelet. I put that on and it’s been on ever since... looking into buying an Alfa oyster which tapers a bit more and has an old type locking clasp. As for the watch itself... the second hand bothers me... needs to be thinner and longer for better balance. Not excited about the Miyota but it serves its purpose... would have preferred the ETA. Apart from that it’s become my daily. I try other watches in my collection but alway end up taking them off for the Smiths. If I had to sum it up... It’s a watch that sneaks up on you.
