    I've been wearing my Speedy almost exclusively for a year, but as soon as I saw the BB Pro announced I knew I would have a dilemma on my hands. I went to my local AD after the announcement and put my name on the list and got the call last week on the bracelet and I couldn't be happier, the vintage design themes with the true GMT, really puts my head in a spin getting ready in the morning having to decide to wear this or the Speedmaster. Great review!

    I have the black bay pro since almost 3 weeks with the steel bracelet and it’s juts amazing . The T-fit (kind of easy link) is way better than in my Rolex. The Tudor Black Bay Pro is to me, the best release
    Tudor ever made

      I will say that on the strap it is very understated... on the bracelet, I think it will become a bit more 'aware'. So that said if I was traveling to far-off lands It will be nice to have the option to switch back to rubber (once on the bracelt) if I think the situation calls for it. Again let me get it on the bracelet then I'll really know.

    Nice honest review. You can't argue that it pays homage to something. Nothing wrong with that, but if it walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck...its a duck. It has vintage written all over it. The off-white or fauxtina and lack of marker border resemble that of a tritium dial. The riveted brace design is very similar in appearance to a vintage Rolex 50's C&I expandable bracelet. And of course the "recycled" bezel. If I can build my own tudor, make it thinner, rotate the bezel and drill some lug holes.

      I'd say if you are not itching for one (Like I was... really been itching for one for 24 years!) Wait for the bracelet. Personally, I rather have my watches on bracelets but this rubber strap is top-notch and I am enjoying it. I will say that on the strap it is very understated... on the bracelet, I think it will become a bit more 'aware'. So that said If I was traveling to far-off lands I might just put it on the rubber strap... so I'm glad I have it this way for future travels.

    Regarding your comment Re wrist size, I have 4 tudors - Heritage/ GMT and Chrono, they are bigger than the BB pro and I have 6.5” wrist and they fit fine…they are a hefty watch and I don’t mind that. I’m on waiting list for the BB pro can’t wait for it

    • @RobertBlanchard
      @RobertBlanchard  2 года назад

      Oh, you are going to love the BBPro! When you do get it it would be great to do a comparison video/pictures between the GMT and BB Pro.
      I have also seen it on a friend with smaller wrist size. The diameter and lug to lug suit it very well and as I mentioned about 1.5-2mm of the BBPro disappear (caseback) when on the wrist making the watch wear like a 13mm. It’s an excel watch and becoming a fail for me.

    This one is often compared against Longines latest GMT watch. While the latter is the dressier and hence, more versatile watch, I lover the no nonsense, "industrial" affect of this Tudor. Nice choice.

      Haven’t taken mine off since I bought it! I had a strap code bb58 bracelet and I modified the endlinks to fit the BBPro… and have been wearing it with the bracelet going on 5 days now. Reason was two fold… wanted to see how a male endlink worked with the case (works very well) and wanted to see how ‘different’ the watch wore on the bracelet.
      I’ll say this much… only get it on the bracelet and later on buy the fantastic rubber strap… I did it opposite.
      Why? On the rubber it’s a watch that flies under the radar… I can actually see myself never worried about wearing it on trips anywhere.
      The bracelet on the other hand ‘changes’ the ‘understatement’ to one off ‘look, I have something special on my wrist but you just don’t know what it is.
      Out of the two… I can honestly say I like both… and would be happy with either but happiest with both😁

    I agree on making the case with drilled lug holes. I recently sold all my affordable watches to get the BB58. It was mostly Steinharts, and an Oris 65 diver. Anyway, now the BB58 is my one watch. I absolutely love it, but really hard to change back to the bracelet. The spring bars are just really tightly tensioned. I got my eye on the Pro as my next watch. Thanks for the review.

    • @RobertBlanchard

      Once I get the bracelet I think it’ll stay on the bracelet, but the only issue now is getting the bracelet! But that’s a good problem to have😁

    • @EJ20VF39

      @@RobertBlanchard Absolutely! I purchased my BB58 with a strap because that’s all I could find from an AD. I had to find a proper bracelet, so I went with a Strapcode for a while. Then I found an OEM Tudor on EBay, and now that won’t ever get changed. I had to get my watchmaker to change them out each time. For us being in hot climate, always swimming or getting wet in the ocean, a bracelet is always the logical choice. Hope you get that bracelet soon.

    Great review, thanks for sharing your view!
    Tudor does great watches, I had a black blay blue a few years ago and the pelagos LHD as well - both were amazing (unfortunately I had to flip them both for some new experiences :D). I came across your channel when looking into the Seinhart 39 gmt vintage premium and loved that video you posted from a couple years ago - keep posting your views on your watches - looking forward to having some comparison videos as well!
    I’m looking for a small, cool and affordable beater gmt watch of good quality and currently leaning towards the more colourful pepsi style of the seinhart. I also only have a 6.3 in wrist which limits my options.

    • @RobertBlanchard
      @RobertBlanchard  2 года назад +1

      Just understand that Steinhart cases can be pretty stiff looking… never got used to that. But they are great watches.
      Still have my vintage GMT but going to sell it now and maybe (if my son doesn’t want it) the Lorier Hyperion which for your wrist size I’d highly recommend it.
      Lorier makes great fitting watches. The Hyperion is probably my favorite ‘office’ GMT out there… it just oozes vintage character.

    I like the look of this, but I have the Polar Explorer II. Just don't see both of these living in my collection. Nice looking watch though.

    • @RobertBlanchard
      @RobertBlanchard  2 года назад +2

      Well, you have the polar... now you need the black dial version! 😄I used to have the black dial 16570 Explorer II (1994 drilled lug holes) stolen in 1998. I could never bring myself to buy another... even the polar. When Rolex came out with the 42mm version I found it too big. Funny enough I was saving for a 16570 (it's been 24 years' time to move on) and then Tudor surprised us all with the Black Bay Pro... and just like that I stopped thinking about 1998. Can stop looking at or wearing this watch... my next upgrade will be when the bracelet becomes available to purchase. Once on the bracelet, I really don't see myself taking it off the bracelet. But the rubber strap it is on is top-notch... so very happy with it. Next video I will be comparing the 16570 to the Black Bay pro (I have a friend that has a polar)

    Subscribed. Refreshingly clear and in-depth review of what really matters. Looking forward to your future reviews of other watches. I just bought the watch today on a bracelet. The thickness does bother me a little bit, but I am hoping that the watch will grow on me. Other than the thickness, there are so many things that are right with this watch. I have the GMT II Pepsi, Tudor GMT, and the Explorer II. When the watch was offered to me yesterday and I saw it in person, I had to get it. I am hoping my initial impression was correct.

    • @RobertBlanchard
      @RobertBlanchard  2 года назад

      What is your wrist size? Since I was wearing my Willard as a daily the thickness didn’t bother me at all. To me it wears more like a 13-13.5 thick watch since the case back sinks into the wrist somewhat reducing the overall height.
      I also have a strange feeling (after looking at lots of pictures) that the bracelet has a tendency to accentuate the height. Once I get the bracelet I’ll test out my theory but so far on the rubber strap I really don’t ‘see’ the thickness even though I know it’s there.
      Lastly, thanks for the praise! Really appreciate it.

    • @jongwlee62
      @jongwlee62 2 года назад +1

      @@RobertBlanchard My wrist size is 7 and 1/4 inches. Now that I had a chance to wear it more often, I can say that the thickness does not bother me at all. In fact, if I imagine the watch to be a little thinner, I think it would actually take away from the character of the watch in terms of the feeling of solidity and "toolness" of the watch. I am very happy that I took the plunge!

  • @memoleal75
    @memoleal75 2 года назад +1

    I just bought it a week ago in bracelet. I love the mate look of the watch, the domed cristal and the steel bezel. I like it a lot the only missing point is the tickness, if it had been as skinny as the BB58, I would prefer it over many Rolexes ( I know what I mean I own Patek, AP and Rolex). But still is very good lookin watch. But I think Tudor missed the opportunity to become the next Rolex with this one.

    • @RobertBlanchard
      @RobertBlanchard  2 года назад +2

      To me the issue is not what you see, it’s what you don’t see. Tudor missed opportunity was that they had 3 years to shave off .5 mm from the GMT movement. I think it would have been possible with a rotor redesign… and by doing so they could have made the watch 14 maybe 13.8/9.
      They could have even gone further by reducing the WR to 150. That alone would have removed another .3 or so from caseback.
      But honestly to me it rides perfect on my wrist. It could be that I used to daily a Seiko Willard so I’m used to the “thickness” all this said, Tudor did an amazing job in designing this watch with the cards they dealt themselves.
      Love mine and can’t wait to get it on a bracelet. I have a strange feeling that this watch will always look ‘thinner’ on the strap than the bracelet… only time will tell. (Pun intended 😁)

    • @memoleal75
      @memoleal75 2 года назад +1

      @@RobertBlanchard yes I know it’s ok in wrist, the point is that I really like Tudor so I wish they could be a little bit better. For me the BB58 is almost perfect.

  • @jamesminshall4601
    @jamesminshall4601 2 года назад +1

    I’ve had mine over a month now and loving it, I have it on the rubber strap which I think is the best looking version but I am tempted to try the bracelet. It also looks great on single pass Nato's. Any tips on changing straps? It was really difficult to get the rubber one off and I gave up trying to put it back on with the Tudor spring bars.
    The negatives for me are the thickness, ideally it would be a little bit thinner but it wears superbly on my 7inch wrist and it’s not something that concerns me. The rubber strap is lovely but i only have the choice of wearing it slightly too tight which I do or too loose, a tiny bit of adjustment would be great. Strap changes as mentioned. The biggest negative for me is the similarity of the minute and gmt hand, I can’t glimpse the watch and know what time it is, I actually have to read the time which I’m not used too. I assume that’s an issue with a lot of gmt watches. A silly issue I have is that I think it looks weird around midnight.
    The positives far outweigh the slight negatives. It looks gorgeous, its very accurate, it has a date, I think it’s the perfect size for my 7 inch wrist, I like that the buckle is in the middle of the underside of the wrist, it looks like it’s been designed for me. I even see some of the negatives as good things as they give it character.

    • @RobertBlanchard
      @RobertBlanchard  2 года назад +1

      So, I find out the bracelet is going to run around 850 USD. But to me it’s worth it…
      BBPro with bracelet is 4K with rubber is 3675 so figure if you were to buy the rubber it’ll be around 250-350. So at the end of the day the bracelet would cost one 200 ish dollars extra over if you bought it on the bracelet to begin with.
      And if it doesn’t work for you you can always sell it… and if it does you can sell the rubber strap and recoup the 200ish dollars.
      So, yes, still on order.
      I do love the rubber strap even though micro adjustments would have been nice on it. I too find it 1/3 of the time loose, 1/3 too tight and 1/3 just perfect… all depends on the weather.
      This is one of the main reasons to get the bracelet with it’s on the fly micro adjustments.
      All that said since I am being told 6 months plus to get a bracelet I went ahead and ordered a strap code BB58 oyster (145USD) as my stop gap.
      The end-links will fit perfectly except for the height which will be around 1.5mm shorter.
      But that will not bother me since I have already tested out some BB58 end-links (I wish I could add pics here)
      Next video will be on the Oyster from Strap code along with my friends EXPII 16570 for comparison.
      I have a 7.5 inch wrist so to me this watch is perfect in all dimensions… excited to put it on the bracelet for the summer and to tell the truth… I really don’t see a need for another (sport) watch… this has become my daily.

  • @lawrenceh7182

    Got mine on the bracelet last week and it hasn’t left my wrist since. Could t agree more with all the BS about it being too thick, sadly a lot of RUclipsrs have tiny wrists which doesn’t help! Also the resemblance to the 1655 is minor indeed. The Tudor has a distinctive case shape, snowflake hands, no cyclops, totally different bracelet, text the list goes on.
    To say it is a homage is just plain lazy to me.

    • @RobertBlanchard
      @RobertBlanchard  2 года назад

      Glad to know there is another human out there that can see what I see😁 even the clearly obvious… no crown guards and of course as I mentioned it… the 1655 is not even a GMT!
      Oh well, don’t matter cause to me it’s perfect. Only mistake I made was not buying it on bracelet. But I will say this much, the rubber strap is beautiful and really works with ‘toning’ down its presence which I love especially when traveling and not wanting to bring attention to my wrist.

    • @RobertBlanchard
      @RobertBlanchard  2 года назад

      And the earth is flat… I didn’t say it’s not copying I said it’s not a 1655 copy… because the only thing the 1655 and the BBPro have in common is the bezel. Nothing else, not the dial, not the markers, not the hands, not the color, not the crown/no crown guards and most importantly not the function of the movement.
      If there is any relationship it’s with the 16570.
      But the more I wear it the more it becomes evident to me that it is its own design.
      Lastly, we can’t all agree but at least I can agree that I agree with myself.
