I can't believe i never noticed that little gag with the painting and the door at 1:56 , even after its gone WildStar still finds ways to surprise me.
anyone else get chills when the green side does those evil smirks? I'm getting the impression the caretaker is completely evil and the red side just his inner thoughts. a slip of the tongue sort of thing.

You could always fall back on making an animated TV series or movies franchise.
The animation on these Flicks are freaking gorgeous.
Possibly the creepiest flick released. The way he changes between chaotic good and chaotic evil is done so well that I actually got shivers.
Especially the part towards the end where he repeats "OVER AND OVER". That was fantastically psychotic.
Say what you will about WildStar, but they know how to make their trailers.
you are right I like there trailers because it attract young and old audience which makes the game more sell-able.
Fun Easter Egg: At about 1:56 or so the house has a portrait of Ish'mael the Bloodied next to the door. When the human kicks in the door, it smacks the painting and a faint "Agh!" can be heard.

When I start missing WildStar, I first think of the housing, but then I get reminded of how damn much style the game had!

Rather than putting so much money into animating these trailers, could we get some voice acting and animation for the characters IN THE ACTUAL GAME?
SWTOR had fully voiced characters.
Characters which all had the same model.
Also, do you know what marketing is?
Fuck voice acting in MMOs honestly, every single one that has focused on voice acting has sucked.
Voice acting always seems to come hand in hand with combat being unfinished and no endgame.
MMOs are about people collectively playing together in an imaginary world; that's why all of them which have been overly 'realistic' and 'voice acted' have failed.
JimboBear I think it's more that they've just put too much focus on that. Often the games that decide to put voice acting tend to also try to make their mmo work like a single player game, such as ESO. They're mistake was putting all their effort in the questing and forgeting about the rest, such as an open world and dungeons/raids and pvp ext, the reasons people play mmos.
But that's no reason to simply ignore the questing part, the part everyone will experience first, and make it a mindless grind. Either put the effort in or don't. It's not as if it takes a monumental amount of recources just to do some voice acting..
In my opinion, if mmos are looking to innovate, they should scrap the questing system altogether. It makes no sense, it's primarily single-player, and yet it often ends up taking most of the player's play time in a genre that is supposed to be multiplayer. Not to mention it's just plain boring in most games, I mean i don't think there are many people play mmos for the grind.
Rather than taking wow's original formula and adding some new flashy combat system or friggin telegraphs, they should scrap it altogether. Games like Destiny have already figured that out. That game is so different a bunch of people are debating whether it's even an mmo. We've gotten so used to the wow formula that we've just about let that one game define the genre.
MMO's weren't always like that. Remember Runescape? Obviously the combat in that game is dated by now, but it's still got the best exploration content of any mmo I've played. That game functioned like a real world. sure there were some quests but they were by no means required. That game made me feel like i could go anywhere. Rather than putting the content in a steady trail to higher levels, there were low level places to go all around, with higher level places in patches whenever someone wants a challenge. And then there were the woods filled with nothing but higher level creatures, that you would walk by all the time while leveling, reminding you where you could go when you were strong enough. Dying actually meant something back then. You lost EVERYTHING when you died, everything but your level, you had to get back.
Sorry i've kind of gone off on a tangent.. i'm a game designer myself so i can get into rants sometimes..

Because MMOs take a shit ton of money and time no MMO has been able to do both yet, not a single MMo with full on voice acting has had good combat or endgame. And not a single MMO with good combat and endgame has had full on voice acting in quests.
You cannot beat time and money, unless you want to wait 20years for an MMO to happen.

Is there anything that isn't going to kill people horribly on this planet? Even the player characters are presented as bloodthirsty psychopaths.
Thats what most MMO avatars are when you think about it. The only thing that determines whether your a "hero" or "villain" is which side you kill for.

What makes this different is that they've gone over the top with everything being comically psychopathic.

What I watched so far,to me the graphics look like a mix of SWTOR & WoW. The gameplay looks like a mix of WoW & GW2 ! I LOVE IT
The gameplay - From my pov - is pretty much Smite with lots of customization as an MMORPG and...Tons of humor.
Also: Character.
Seriously, this guy seems so much potential fun. I want to see him twist and alter reality and just absolutely CRUSH EVERYTHING and in the next second he regains his calm and you're rezzed and he's like,"Ok...Soooorreeeey. Didn't mean to kill y'all. Here's loot bye."
That would be cool ! I'm just hoping the game is not a race to end game. I want to feel important at the start and not rush to the end.
While I personally LOVE levelling, endgame needs to have a shitton of content as well or the game will go down the drain. Carbine needs to find a good balance between levelling & endgame :)
That make total sense. I want to enjoy the world and not feel force to get to end game and have top gear.
SirMalorak You ought to watch some Wildstar livestreams and read some Developer feedback, they're hugely focusing on endgame or "eldergame" as they call it. It's one of the primary focuses of this whole game, think old school Vanilla hard as balls 20/40 man raids. As for leveling while nothing too new or revolutionary the number one complaint I've heard from a ton of streamers is that there is actually too much to do out in the world so players often feel like they're being pulled in multiple directions at once, which... isn't necessarily a bad thing. Anyway, surprisingly it does sound like they might have actually struck that balance.

Pretty hard for them to get the keys distributed to actual players, what with a majority of them being split between key sellers and people who're already signed up with full beta accounts. It's probably something like ~1.2% of the 3% of applicants (total number of applicants probably terribly bloated by key sellers' ridiculous number of accounts) that they invite each Monday who actually get in.
Yea that does suck when it comes to this process. I was just reading sad gamers below. And wanted to show them they not alone.

Why does your "big channel" look so small?
That was great character acting, only if some MMO that are already out where as good as this. I got to say Wild Star seems more promising to meet new players then put with old ones in other MMOs. I just read MrFester comment and have to agree that there aren't as many choice as they say there is. That was still great animation.
I think Wildstar's one of those games where I'll actually pay attention to the story instead of just clicking through the text boxes... for once I can actually see myself giving a damn about what a lot of characters have got to say. And I just love that animation. I really like the art direction and the DreamWorks-with-a-twist type humour :P

Inb4 this guy is the final boss of W*'s first raiding tier and is all kinds of awesome.
The caretaker is every where throughout nexus, the eldan have woven their machines into the very core of the planet. So no, the caretaker will never be an encounter because that would destroy nexus.
Well, he COULD create something as a raid - AKA he creates a realm which becomes a raid - With him twisting the room randomly. Could be a thing.

Somebody hired a Troy Baker to voice this new Caretaker character. That is Troy Baker isn't it? His voice range is so good it's hard to tell sometimes. There is a little bit of his Joker from Arkham Orgins leaking out when he glitches red.

Another fun video. The caretaker is entertaining and actually kind of scary. This looks very fun. I really dig anything where choice is a factor.
I have slight mixed feelings about the "all a simulation" aspect, but then again makes sense if you are able to just do these repeatedly.

One thing you have to admit, the voice acting is pretty cool for this game. I mean you have Crispin Freeman , Tara Strong, Yuri Lowenthal etc in the same game. Btw, Cartman's mom from south park is the robot from paths. How cool is that?
