I also had some misfires when I first got mine. I took it apart and found just a little gunk inside (possibly threadlock). I cleaned it up, gave it a little RemOil, and adjusted the ZBT mechanism. It's firing reliably now, but the action isn't nearly as smooth and easy as my Troodon and my Scarab. The Troodon and the Scarab also fire harder. I'd say the action on the new Ultratech is very similar to the action on the older ones (a little stiff). I was really excited about it with how nice the action on the dual fuel knives has been. The Troodon and Scarab are really nice, easy, and smooth but the Mini Hera is the easiest action of any OTF I've ever tried. I was hoping the Ultratech would be somewhere between the Troodon and the Hera, seeing as how the size of the knife is in-between. I am fairly disappointed at how stiff button is. Maybe they needed stronger springs to move the blade with the ZBT set screw in it.
I’ve noticed that too. My gen 3 CT fires so smoothly and with much more force. My old Ultratech fires harder than this ZBT model and that’s slightly aggravating. I do like the zero blade play feature but it seems finicky compared to the overall robustness of the older generation. I only wish the ZBT Ultratech fired with the same force as the older model.
@@LoganLawrence Agreed. I've been really stoked about this knife since they teased it at blade show. I know they can do a better action with ZBT, because I played with the Luminary the shop had in stock and it was nice and smooth like the other dual fuel models.
My hera mini 2 has the same issue and my combat troodon. When you play with it, fire it over and over you will hear it start to chug. When it makes that sound lay on the left side and fire pointing up, or lay on left side retract blade pointing the rear up. That will enduce it to miss fire. So far i have to rem oil both knives once a week or it will happen. If your blade deploys with no visible oil on it, its going to start misfire. The oil spot is always on that left side of knife 1/4 back from tip. When i wipe it off repeatedly until oil no longer shows up upon deployment, the m9sfire will come soon. I have had both models now for 2 months and this is routine. If you see drop of oil on that left side of blade do not wipe it off. The more you do the sooner you have misfire.
@@CopLoverDontShootI’ve let the rem oil set for a bit and work its way into the knife and it seems to be working good. No misfires since. Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment!
Not anymore. I took it apart and put some white lithium grease in the spring and that got rid of the annoying spring sound I was hearing. I haven’t had a misfire since I posted this video.
I'm already having problems out of mine. Most of the time, when I try to retract the blade, it doesn't. The switch goes downward, but it doesn't do anything. And rem oil doesn't help.
@@Ab82903 that sucks to hear. I’m guessing there’s a problem with one of the springs. I’d send it back to Microtech to get it serviced. Or, you can take it apart and try to figure it out. Good luck man!
I’ve seen guys force a malfunction on the ZBT and they pull it all the way out and it resets perfectly, curious why it would be more difficult with yours
@@justintaylor8987 I’m not sure either. It’s been better since I’ve lubricated it but I still have to grease the springs. They won’t stop making the “ting” sound.

White lithium grease on the springs inside will get rid of ting sound and misfires
It looks high quality. Nice!
It is!
My 24’ Troodon did that too when it was new . Hit some remoil none since

Is the body bigger then the old ultratech
It’s the same length but it is slightly wider. It feels better in my opinion.
As a British person this video is very helpful

Cops in the USA don’t care if you carry these even in the states where it’s “illegal” just don’t give them a reason to search you

If that KNIFE win that night breaks wait until you try to get it serviced they have the worst customer service in the whole KNIFE industry
