Why are you assuming Elon has the same goal as this guy?
Back in the mid-'80s, I had a lesbian couple as good friends. They asked me to donate sperm when they wanted to have a child. After some serious thought, I refused. I just didn't want a child of mine in the world, that I had no part in raising.
You child would have been a pervert too
Polyphemus47, That makes sense. It was high praise, though, that they asked. 😊
@@edelweiss2.076 Yes, it was, and I did see it that way.
It's a child support risk which I would not take. You never know if, despite all agreements and any contracts signed, if a court will send you a bill or a law is passed which applies retrospectively.
You have good instincts.
What started as a simple hair choice will become the largest mental health study with genetics.

Hollering !!! 😂
The study was done with royal families and the results are negative - the Habsbergs.

Hair. That was the most important characteristic for hundreds of women in choosing a father for their children. Kind of explains a lot about the people you meet every day, and the state of the human race in general.
When my ex husband started going bald it didn't bother me at all. I think it bothered him way more than me.
You didn’t know women were this deep, did you? 😂
A receding hairline is a significant source of worry for many men and maybe the mothers did not want their child to go through this when they reached adulthood.
They vote too. They literally vote.

The kids all are blonde and look like him according to the documentary
Yeah he probably dyes his hair blonde so his kids are probably all brunettes and redheads 😆

If the donor is meeting you at the mall, you should have many many questions.
And suggests doing it the old fashion way. When I was a younger man, I wish I had come up with that one !
If the donor looked like this one, he'd be lucky to make it out of the parking lot. Actually, he might find walking difficult. Like, would he have a group discount? There are old ladies here, discounts matter.
Sadly, I think this says more about the desperation of the mothers to get pregnant

Thanks Dr. Grande. Perhaps if the courts had ruled he was financially responsible for his children, his hands on approach would have stopped a long time ago.

Imagine the disappointment when your baby inherits the bald gene instead.
I've heard that men supposed to inherit their hairline from their mothers side of the family but I don't think I place to much stock in that as my 85 yo dad still has a full head of hair (more than I do, as his daughter) while his younger brothers (5 & 14 years younger) are completely bald on top. My Dad had gorgeous dark, thick and wavy hair but I unfortunately got my mothers horribly thin/fine mousy brown hair :(.
Yeap, from the mother. The baldness gene comes from the mothers. My mother is balding, and my youngest brother is balding too. It's passed on the X chromosome.
You get your Maternal Grandfathers hair. It's what I've always heard.

Mothers father comes the bald head
I know a woman with very large teal blue eyes who donated eggs to a bank. She mothered at LEAST six children overseas she knows about. She never told her family because she knows her parents would be heartbroken that she "gave their grandkids away." Also, only one or two of the kids she knows of have her eyes. Betting on a recessive trait is a very bad idea.
Donating eggs requires a whole surgery unlike male 💀
This guy should definitely get a guest spot on the daytime soap "All My Children"

Another factor missing from your statistics is the fact that all of these children form a single age (or close in age) cohort. From the documentary, they all appear to be within ten years of one another, thus increasing the likelihood that they will be in similar grades in school and university. 😒
Especially if it is in the Netherlands, not exactly a big country.

It is disconcerting to ponder that there now exist 550 (or 1000, or 3000) offspring sharing 50% of that individual's genetic material. Sperm donations seem to be an ideal mechanism for passing on genes while avoiding any obligations traditionally linked to parenting, such as laborious effort and financial support.
That's probably part of why it's illegal to donate to more than a certain amount of women.
Something like 1 in 7 people alive today are descended from ghengis khan, and we're all still here. There's far more genetic overlap than most people realize.

Full adopted siblings too, it happens more because the siblings are in eachothers age range and they do report a sort of instant connection. Genetic attraction isn't that easily dismissed when parents fall in love with their child and that child with them after reuniting as adults. Something that has no reason of happening without that factor.
I didn't grow up with my father and certainly wasn't attracted to him but I do know he felt the way my mother felt. Without any positive associations or feelings about it I think that's not a factor science can figure out yet.

I found the documentary to be hyperbolic. It’s also odd that women selected Jonathan for his blonde hair only, as he isn’t physically or mentally a remarkable person. Jonathan was shown to have no special talents, athletics or academic achievements, yet the women wanted to have kids with him. From my observations based on the people that I know, the more successful people I know have fewer kids. While more often less successful dudes have more kids, with more women….

But... the feelings !
You got that right!
I think your tone of the consequences misses the mark quite a bit. See the case of Donald Cline (doctor who used his own sperm to impregnate patients - patients thought they were just getting donor sperm). His children have had a very difficult time with the situation. Especially given how many children this man has in the Netherlands, it’s quite possible to end up meeting a sibling without knowing it with horrifying mental health concerns if romantic relationships form. This isn’t about birthday cards.
IDK if it's the same guy. A fertility doctor? He was kind of goofy looking and all his kids, well, they got the goofy looking gene. Thanks Dad!
I agree, this situation has lots of consequences with the children and while I usually like videos on this channel, I think Todd has failed to thoroughly look into the emotional and psychological impacts on the children of knowing they are one of hundreds of siblings and Dad is a compulsive liar.
completely agree! The consequences in a tiny country like the Netherlands will be big.. If there are already 3 half-siblings in one grade-school.
11:30: Perhaps look at the probability of incest in The Netherlands. The map of recipients shown in the story was highly concentrated there vs the rest of Europe and the world at large. The possibility of consanguinity there would theoretically be much higher due to physical proximity, common language and customs, etc.
A sperm clinic physician on the show was embarrassingly incompetent in apparently trusting donors to be honest about the number of times they donated without performing due dilligence and tracking donations proactively. His naieveté was appalling.
I agree, in the Netflix documentary one of the women was a kindergarten teacher and noticed that her daughter looked very similar to a colleague's daughter, and someone related to her niece as well as someone who was friends with her ex also had children who turned out to all have the same sperm donor. That's 4 children close in age within the same school district and a high risk of incest.

Kinda a perfect metaphor. Choosing from what you see on the outside instead of what it's inside is a deep mistake. (hair vs mind)
Anyways it also shows that this way of having children is bad in itself. It's choosing the outside (genetics, body) without caring in the "inside" (a father, a person that will be there to help educate, not just give his DNA sample).
I would have considered it, he's a good looking guy too. However, I have 3 kids with the same dad...they are all very different

When the title is factually inaccurate, you know you’re in for a treat. 550 is not equal to 1000.
The “prolific donator “ knew what he was doing and he’s rotten. But the recipients of the donations have some responsibility especially those that operated outside the control of an established bank. They obtained what they wanted for free and were operating outside the system which offers controls over this ( but indeed there has to be a better international system of control ). Fortunately for these kids there is cheap DNA testing available to them to avoid the future inbreeding etc

This is baffling to me. Long blonde hair is the last thing I’d look for in a father to my child
Same lol.
Well, they do live in the Netherlands it's more common there
It's baffling to me too... most man fall for big fat reserves on the chest of a lady ..
They want a daughter.
They are not looking for a father just a sprem donor
When i saw your release of this video, i had to immediately came to see it. I love coming here and watching you!!
he has a lot to release regarding these forthcoming topics. the insight strokes my intellect and helps me shoot this knowledge in the face of my peers.
On the next video Dr. Grande will be sporting “long blond hair”.
I can't imagine having one kid, let alone 500 or more. Terrifying.
He’s got nice hair but is painfully average looking. Some might even consider him ugly.
Depends where you live.
Yeah so strange how in so many people’s eye white and blonde automatically = perfect.
The face is creepy and the eyes. He looks weasely or shady
Agree. Attractiveness is so subjective.
Yeah, I'm calling bu11shit. Average at best.
This should be heavily followed monitored so none of his donor kids meet without knowing and marry etc, it happens
Awesome video,as always,Doc! I had not heard of this before. Love your deadpan humor!👍 Thank You!🤗✌️
I think this is the most funny thing ever.
I was waiting for the punch line that he had a wig all the time.
I guffaw at your amazing super power of keeping a straight face when cracking jokes. 🏆🏆🏆
