    That would be a similar system to the locking shopping trolleys.
    I dont know if you have it over there, but in the UK, some supermarkets have shopping carts that are locked together, and the only way you can get them apart is to put a pound coin in the handle, which is then spat out when you lock it back up. Lots of places sell pound coin sized keyrings for this.
    Another example I can think of is swimming pool lockers.

We smoothed out the irregularities by scraping them against the sidewalk. Our tokens only worked on the older videogame machines. Short answer: yes. When I was 12, my mom worked overnights in a flower distributing warehouse and I would go with her. We didn't have the money for the snack vending machines, so one night I found a thin, but very sturdy piece of cardboard, traced a quarter, and used some floral shears to cut out as many quarters as I use. They were somehow heavy enough to do the trick! I had free snacks for a week before my mom's boss made an announcement about the cardboard quarters and holding whomever is doing that "personally responsible". I was never so scared in my life - I fessed up to my mom that it was me and she said she would lose her job if I didn't stop. She never ratted me out, but I never did it again. 😂

    This reminds me of when I befriended the new girl and she invited me to her slumber party. She wasn’t in my class, but she invited her entire class and only a few kids showed up. Regardless, I felt like the odd one out, so, as they were playing The Voice, I went upstairs to explore her room. On her dresser, there was a gumball machine and a Chuck E Cheese token. I put the token in the machine, but it got stuck.
    I went downstairs and told my friend to come with me and told the others to stay behind. They followed us anyways. When my friend tried to get the token unstuck, she accidentally shattered the glass of the gumball machine. Gumballs went all over her room and it was a free-for-all.
    And, somehow, despite all that, we became BFFs, and we’re still best friends to this day. Next month will be the 10th anniversary of our friendship and, last July, I gave her a new gumball machine for her college dorm.
    Edit: For those claiming I made this up, here’s video proof from July 2022:

    Without watching the short video, yes. It works off of the size diameter of a quarter. Anything that shape will work. Back in the day, electric boxes had tabs that you punched out to run conduit through. Most of the boxes tabs were the exact diameter of a quarter.

  • @10001willy
    @10001willy 2 года назад +34

    The reason this works is because there is something that gets pushed into the empty coin slot that stops the turning. The quarter bushes the stopper back and allows you to turn it. You can do this with a piece of paper and have it serve as a ramp.
