    I love this show. Not only the fact that these artist and craftsman can repair such things but also the reaction of the people getting their treasures back in working condition is heartwarming.

    What the friggin frig of all friggary! Where's the ending?. To just cut it like that when you're expecting to see a satisfying conclusion is cruel, it's like blindfolding your dog then taking it off again at the vets.

    It was so wrong to GLUE back the access panel behind the Monkeys head. now no one can get inside to do any similar repairs....

    Why would you permanently glue the back panel back in? If anything breaks inside it again then it can't be repaired. Bad decision

    • @cuebj
      @cuebj 2 года назад

      It was glued in place originally. He pushed it out from inside, having gained access through the earhole

  • @hinas_for_life
    @hinas_for_life 2 года назад +1

    The glue on the back panel was a terrible mistake as the panel will never pop out if a repair is needed in the future. What he should have done is simply a very very thin layer of glue or wood putty on the panels edges was a terrible mistake as the panel will never pop out if a repair is needed in

    • @raywellswork
      @raywellswork 2 года назад +1

      so you have a degree in woodwork restoration and many years experience of similar repairs? The original was glued in as shown by the chamfered edge. To remove the panel you go in through the ear or the mouth and push it back out breaking the seal on the glue.

    • @happygardener28

      @@timadams3717 maybe and maybe not, there are many little things a different restorer would have done differently during the repair. just as I would not have used a modern glue to close the back panel. I cringed when he used liquid glue to close up the back panel. I would have thought hide glue a better option incase the cane needs repair in the future.

    Seems like they are attempting to darken new wood without using earth pigments. No wonder the camera hardly stayed at all on the finished piece. Invisible repair? They didn`t let us see it for more than a nano second so I doubt it. The programme is a horrible BBC box ticking exercise

      @@raywellswork My qualification is 50 years experience in the repair of clocks, watches, small automata and small music boxes. I have designed and made automata, which includes making the wooden cabinets and making and restoring small music box cases. Despite what you and others say in the comments, the back cover of this stick should NEVER have had any type of glue applied. I am afraid that Will frequently does more harm than good and to be frank, he really hasn't a clue. If you still doubt what I say, have a look at my channel.
