- Repair and testing of a ConradJohnson PV-7 tube preamplifier purchased by a friend in non-working conditions. The previous owner replaced a can capacitor and three out of four points on the PCB where the multi-can cap mounts, used the metal shell of the multi-can cap to connect to ground. The multi-can was replaced with individual caps and the points on the PCV where the multi-can cap shell was mounted, where left not connected believing that they were just a mechanical mount to hold the can in place, but those points went to ground through the Multi-cap metal can. A bridge was built to connect those points to ground. Problem solved! The unis was connected to an OPPO BDP-105, Mcintosh Mc2105 and a pair of Klipschorns for testing and it sounds absolutely beautiful and as sweet a wild raw honey!
So nice to find things made with repairability in mind.
