Hey, you, person watching this. Calm down. I know you're doom scrolling through every page on RUclips because your anxious about your procedure. The worst part was it taking a few tries to get the IV in. I'm a huge wimp when it comes to this stuff. Like, I panic before going to the dentist. This procedure was nothing. Just make sure you're put under for the procedure and not awake. Pick up some ice cream on the way home and you'll be fine.
I have this in the morning as a pre-op to gastric surgery in the future. It's rare I find a comment like this, and I just wanted to say thank you very much for posting it.
The procedure isnt my problem. I can have really low O2 levels so the anesthesia can kill me. This is round 2 to see if my oxygen levels are high enough.
I was the other day watching this video and nervous about this procedure. If you are feeling anxious like I was I can tell you to just relax, it was about 20 minutes and when you realize you are already in the recovering room ❤
Thank you, I will try. I've had a number of barium swallow tests, gastric emptying test, acid test and I've had a camera inside as well. I've had 2 stomach surgeries as well so. Plus I have been dealing with breast cancer. Thank you
wow, you've really been through a lot. All those tests, surgeries, and dealing with breast cancer too… that’s tough. If there's anything I can help with or if you just wanna chat, I’m here. Hang in there, you’re stronger than you know!
I"ve had at least 15 EGD and never once did I realized they laid you on your side. Mine are much more complicated than most. I actually have been having them in the OR under general anesthesia. There is usually food in my esophagus NOT in my stomach. I have a stenosis. Probably will need surgery.
Hey people, I got this done last year and I’m getting it done again Monday. I’m pretty worried, but there’s nothing to worry about, when I got it done, the worst part was the IV, you get the IV in, you roll your way into the procedure room, you go to sleep, you wake up and your home. no biggie!
@@bman_2024I dread doing the preparation because I know I'm going to be sick and nauseous. I hate that feeling and the feeling weak then having to work and start over with being strong again. I will be glad and can't wait until the worst of this is over.
I had one done today along with a colonoscopy. I knew about the mouthpiece, but never felt a thing. I was concerned about it, but it was not bad. I felt more tugging during the colonoscopy. Neither procedure hurt or was painful in any way.
I will have this tests on a few months. I told my doctor I will have to be out cold before he does this. He is super nice and assured me I will get IV meds and will not be awake. It is the only way he can do it. I gag myself just brushing my teeth!
I had an endoscopy my throat stretched and a colonoscopy performed separately a month apart this past summer. Nothing to it. I highly recommend it to everyone for health prevention.
Ive also scared but today done with sedation trust me im phobic to hospital to procedures as soon as they sedated me i dont know what happened it was very easily gone nothing to worry guys it safe and no pain at all it will be just 10minutes procedure
Is it common for people to struggle during this procedure? My girlfriend is having this done tomorrow and she's terrified that they won't sedate her enough and she's going to gag and struggle
I have done mine without sedation and i wasn’t gagging just shortness of breath has it feels tight for the air to pass. After the examination I had to cry of tension and anxiety during the procedure and this was 14 yrs ago and I am thinking of doing it again coz of gerd and heartburn symptoms. Praying for everyone to heal naturally. I am doing a lot of meditation and eating healthy.
@@codywright2654 If you trust your hospital & Dr. Enough then it's a piece of cake, I went through one but my hospital is Beaumont Royal Oak so that's why I wasn't afraid, I also went through a colonoscopy & a partial appendectomy spaced a few days apart when I was admitted to the hospital.
Hi! It seems there isn't much prep involved to have this procedure. What happens if you have no one to be with you and come alone? Some people are in this situation having no living family or someone they can trust. Would having this procedure with no anesthesia be an option or would it just be cancelled for reasons of liability?
Worst part was the IV for sure, hurt pretty bad and I felt a bit sick, they administered anti-nausea and I was fine in about 10 minutes. Actual procedure took only 5-10 mins. I had 6 biopsies. I did not have any throat or adbdominal soreness at all afterwards. The propofol gave me pretty bad headaches that evening and I had nightmares, I wish they had used fentanyl instead.
Hey 👋 you require atleast 6-8 hours of fasting before these procedures.. and 4 hours after the procedure is done .. all the best and if there is anything you need .. drop a comment..
I am not staying calm because I'm scared of having any kind of Cancer. I am half tempted to not be resuscitated. I don't want any kind of Cancer again. I have had it more then up to here with me being sick. I am suppost to have a Colonoscopy on Jauuary 22nd 2025. Then to have a endoscopy to test for Helobactor Pylori. I hope when I'm sedated I don't wake up. If I have to keep putting up with being sick.
I have really bad geerd, with heartburn, trouble swallowing at times and Barrett esophagus. Ive been getting endoscopy since I was 21 year's old. Im 48 now and having this done in the upcoming week. I hate the mouth piece. I do this at the hospital under sedation. I get these done every 2 to 3 year's
Hey Jodi! Wow, that sounds like a lot to deal with-GERD and Barrett’s esophagus can really make life tough. Props to you for sticking with the regular check-ups all these years; it’s not easy. And yeah, that mouthpiece... definitely not the most fun part, right? I hope the upcoming procedure goes smoothly for you. Sending good vibes your way-keep us posted if you’re up for it!
Similar, but they go deeper using a longer scope with enteroscopy than they do with an EGD. Because the procedure lasts longer they typically give you a bit stronger sedation.
I just had my endoscopy on Friday. They stretched it out. They found gastric nodes, ulcers and polyps. They took a bunch of biopsies. I'm still sore and eating soft foods. If anyone needs advice on this procedure, please let me know
