In March 2017, Rick and Andrea (confessed Travel Addicts) started a Facebook Group called Travel Addicts as a way to share their travel photos and videos not just with their own respective friend's lists - but with the world. Another great video guys. Our trip is 20 days in Italy. Agree with you on more nights in Rome. We live between the Indian and Atlantic Ocean, yes 15 mins drive to each Ocean. One warm and one Cold if you can imagine that. MILAN is one of our favorite places. We have included Florence Venice Milan and the last 4 days in Come City.

Hey guys. Love the video and the channel. Got a question for you. We are heading to Italy in late April and flying into Rome Fiumicino then heading for Florence. What's the best way to train up to Florence? Get tickets from Fiumicino or head into Rome? Also, any general idea of how long it takes to clear customs/passport control? I'm trying to minimize wait time and get to Florence as quickly as possible. Thanks and keep up the interesting videos!
The best way to Florence is taking the Leonardo express to Rome termini then take the high speed train to Florence. Unfortunately we can’t tell you how long it will take for custom in Fiumicino because it depends on how many planes land at that particular time.

Hi, Re: the train. How far in advance do you need to book your train tickets between smaller cities… such as Venice to bologna and bologna to Verona? Can you book the day before or the day of?

Thank you so much! If you book the non high speed trains you can book them anytime even the same day of traveling. When you book high speed trains it is better to book them early to get the best price.
direct non stop milano malpensa or linate or venice airports; connecting to florence or naples. torino cremona mantova bergamo busseto pesaro also worth visiting especially for opera music fans catania too

Moving north to south (or vice versa) is definitely a good idea. But of course many of us fly into Rome which is smack dab in the center and can make that kind of challenging if you want to go to destinations in both directions without backtracking.

A sim card is probably the easiest and cheapest solution for you. Tipping is not required in general you can leave a couple of euros at restaurant and same at hotels for bags.

The Itinerary looks fantastic. Stay tuned because this week we will be publishing a video on how to get to Milan! The only thing that looks a bit tight is the Naples-Florence-Pisa in one day, you will be really tired at the end of that day.
@@TravelAddictsLife I agree. But we just want to see Leaning Tower of Pisa in Pisa. So doesn't make sense to keep a whole day for it. In this video, you mentioned that it looks beautiful at night. Hence, we thought of doing it on the same day. Also, will be waiting for your video! One last quick question, should we keep Naples or Sorrento as our base? @poojabathija1974 you are right the Leaning Tower at night is amazing. Naples is better as base because there is much more to do.
I'm doing pretty much the same thing as you're planning here EXCEPT I'm skipping Venice (have no desire to go there) and Lake Como. I'm doing exactly what you're doing up to #11, then going from Florence to Milan, then Milan to Paris and flying home from there.
What to do with luggage while spending that last few hours in Rome after the train?
You can leave them at the deli at the station
Great video, I just started planning a trip to Italy, i see flights from Venice back to the U.S. , is this recommended? Rather than train back to Rome for one day. Fly into Rome, Fly out of Venice.

For our first time in Europe, we are going to Milano for a concert next July. Debating something like:
USA > London > Paris > Milano (Thurs - Sun) > Lake Como > Venice > fly home
or
USA > Milano (Thurs - Sun) > Lake Como > Venice > Florence > Rome > fly home
Aiming for around 10 days. It's going to be hot and busy in July so part of me is debating just staying north and saving the south for another trip. Any thoughts? So many options for getting there we're hoping to be clever and find a cheap flight to Europe then take a train or regional airline to Milano.
Then there's thinking about doing this all in the reverse! Whatever is more affordable 😅
They both look great itineraries . Regarding the heat the difference between Milan and Rome is not that much.
Your first idea is way too much unless you have at least 2-3 weeks for your trip. London to Paris takes the better part of a day (only a couple of hours on the Eurostar, but the whole trip time hotel to hotel will be a few hours start to finish.) Paris to Milan will either be many hours on a train, or you'll need to fly. The flight itself isn't very long, but CDG is way outside of Paris, so you have to factor that into your trip time there, as well. The second idea sounds much more doable. London and Paris is one trip, and Italy is another (if it's 10 days you're talking about.)
Hello, I'm planning 2 weeks in Italy in November. I need the American holiday's for the extra time off work. Can you advise if November is a good time to visit? Are Tuscan winery tours available in November? I'm going solo so I'll generally be relying on local tours to get to smaller towns. I'm likely going to focus in Rome and Florence but if I can squeeze in the Amalfi Coast and Pompeii I'd love to. I assumed November isn't a great time for Amalfi though. I thank you for any advice.
November is a good time to visit because it is way less busy with tourists, it might be a bit rainy but overall you’ll enjoy it. It will be fine to visit Pompeii but the Amalfi coast might not be the best time of the year because of the weather. However you could visit Naples while you are there. Winery in Tuscany are open, but you’ll need to make a reservation.

That is a great itinerary. Regarding Tuscany it all depends on where in Tuscany you would like to go. It is a pretty big area and Florence it is the capital of Tuscany. If you go to Montalcino or Montepulciano or San Giminiano you can definitely take a bus. Alternatively you can take a tour of Tuscany that will stop in most of the main towns. We are not sure about what you are asking about the high speed trains. From Naples you can take the Frecciarossa to Florence, it takes 3 hours and 5 minutes and there is a train every hour or so.
You've already done your trip by now. I have almost exactly the same trip planned for next month, except that after Florence we'll go to Milan. It's only slightly farther from Florence to Milan than going back to Rome and you get to see different countryside on the train, and see one more city before you leave.
Is it not better to fly back from Venice instead of going back to Rome?

Also do you see people walking around with expensive cameras? I am a photographer and want to bring my lenses and cameras but read about pickpocketing. I wouldn't expect them to threaten me to give up my camera but I just don't know. Thanks for any advice!
Depends on the trains. If you miss a high speed train you will have to go to the ticket counter and get your ticket replaced. On regular train just wait for the following one. We have been on trains with expensive camera gears several times and we have never had a problem

Matera is really stunning and in March is a great time to go. Palermo is nice but our favorite areas of Sicily are Catania, Siracusa and Agrigento.

Great, informative video but I'm wondering why you chose to break your original suggestion to travel in 1 direction? I.e. Rome to Naples (south) , Naples to Florance (north), Florence to Venice (north), Venice to Rome (south)

Hello Komal, the itinerary that you have is pretty good. Keep in mind that visiting Capri will take one day on its own because it is an island and the ferry ride from Sorrento takes about 45 minutes each way.

I was just curious to know that spending 2 days at Naples make sense? I was reading somewhere that it’s not safe for tourist. So we are just skeptical to include that in the iternary but we also wanted to include Naples to try best Pizza in the world. Naples is a city with a very bad reputation but in our experience it is totally safe and really fun! Just use some common sense and you’ll be fine

Hello there, with seven days you can spend 3 days in Rome, 2 in Florence and 2 in Venice. That is a bit of a short time but you will see some of the most important landmarks!

April is a great month to visit Italy but May, September and the beginning of October are fantastic months as well

Why is Milan left out of most itineraries? Seems like most if not all the research I do Milan is never included.
Because it might be less famous then Rome, Florence or Venice
I've never wanted to specifically go to Milan. However, on my upcoming trip to Italy, we are doing Rome -> Naples -> Amalfi Coast -> Florence -> Milan. It didn't make sense to me to backtrack from Florence to Rome - we'll have already been in Rome. It is practically the same distance to go on to Milan from Florence and fly home (or to the next destination) from there, so why not? The cathedral alone will surely be worth the visit, and we could even pop off the train somewhere along the way (Bologna, maybe?) for a lunch and a quick look around.

To go to Pompeii you’ll need to catch the train from Rome to Naples and from there you’ll take the little train to Pompeii (we have a video about that on our channel). You can then take the train from Naples to Pisa and then from Pisa to Venice.

You should add prices of everything. It would be WAY better.
Unfortunately that is not possible because prices change all the time depending on availability and time of the year
