This is the South East Freeway heading towards Brisbane City. It looks lush and green all the way. I have lived in Paddington, Red Hill, New Farm and Petrie Terrace, all 10 minutes walk to the edge of the City. That was 30 years ago. Now it looks so much different. Elizebeth Street was so cool in the 1960's and its arcade was very "alternative".
If there is one place I can not stand driving its in Brisbane City but you made it look so easy. You must have been there on a very quiet day because I have never seen the city that quiet before. Usually there are 100s more car than that and they are all trying to drag race you to the next set of light or push in front of you. I drive down a one way street that 3 lanes wide and 40 Kmh speed limit and you got buses racing you down the left side and taxi's screaming past you down the right side. It's a made house down there.
They're so fun to use! Those Scooters (The Purple ones at least) are all available to use for the public and are just scattered everywhere here in Brisbane. 😁😁
Nelson.
At 12:26 there's a poster hanging from the lamp-post showing a sportsman with a KIA sponsor's logo on his shirt, right at the same time a blue KIA SUV type vehicle passes. Great timing cameraman (or am I just weirdly nerdish to spot such a thing?) Fantastic vid this one !!!
The city is clean and tidy, quiet, non pollutant but something is missing.. The natural beauty of trees, flowers, grass, birds. I wonder how economy is balanced in countries where population are less... Only buildings and stores and not much customers... How do they keep up with rent, taxes, salaries and maintenance?? 😮😮😮😮
Many middle to third world countries have the problems of biggest populations which they can't keep up so the government cant maintain the social well being of its people they end up very poor, australia is a model so the economy is good and citizens have the best living standards even than those in USA/CANADA/EUROPE the Migration is well controlled they let very skilled and educated migrants only
Once you start working full time. communting every day, hanging out with the same group of people in the same area, and become tooo tired to bother to do do anything else, it can happen anywhere. I lived in both London and Seoul before calling Brisbane home, and had exactly these same issues in all three cities.
@shanecallum come to Cape Town it’s very beautiful city beautiful beach I’m sure you will like the city having a beautiful Mountain lovely sunset and not a boring city good for hiking even weather is amazing very nice view city and ocean from mountains 😊 mostly if you are in Signal Hill
Are you sure this is a weekday? this is most definitely a Sunday afternoon, the roads and footpaths are too quiet to be a weekday. No delivery vans, barely any buses or taxis getting around and people all dressed casually makes me certain its a Sunday
Too busy for a Sunday lol. If it's a weekday people are working, it gets busier during lunch periods cause people want to go out to eat. Lots of offices and the such in the city.
As someone who works in the city, the noticeable absence of office workers, tradies, delivery vans and trucks and buses makes it clear this is a weekend. Even outside the city, the motorway at the start is pretty empty and even around new farm/the valley near the end
The banks are closed, the parking bays are advertising their weekend/sunday rates,, half the retail stores are open and the other Half are Closed, no builidng activity on the construction sites and almost all the non retail busineses are closed. Its either a Sunday Afternoon or Footage taken on the first monday of October, (A public Holiday).
@@dickriggles942 There has been a massive highrise devlopment boom in Briabne over that time, the area driven through would have about 3 times the resident population it had 20 years ago, - fueled mostly by immigration comming in from Asia. South Brisbane has gone from 4,110 populaiton in 2001 to 14,292, Fortitude valley from 3,456 to 9,512, New Stead from 2,785 to 13,015, West End 5,680 to 14,730 etc etc Not to say Brisbane is thrivng or dense, but it has changed greatly in those 20 years.
When I was there, it reminded me of a boring small town. I didn't even get a big-city vibe from it. I assume things have changed in twenty years, but back then, when people went out on the town, they were wearing suits. Even in 2004, that was pretty crazy.
@@kamal-hassan I did pass by a Ferrari dealership in Brisbane. People can and do drive a lot of old cars in Australia because I think the weather doesn't destroy them like it does in the US.
Brisbane is a neat city with good income distrubition and no tents on the streets...the cars on their roads are no different from any other normal city it's size.
Australia is super boring. I wouldn't spend a lot of money to visit. My dad worked in Queensland and flew us out. Man, I was so excited. Then I got to Brisbane, walked around and was like, "that's it?" I thought the people were super stuck-up too. It's also super weird to run into Australians telling me I wasn't in the Outback too, gatekeeping it or something. I went to Roma. It's definitely the Outback, regardless of whether it has a McDonald's and KFC. Their motels and tourism sites even say it is. It wouldn't be a bad place to live but it's hard to ignore some of the negative traits they've picked up from America over the decades.
I lived in Brisbane for many years and always found this. I used to fly to Sydney & Melbourne just to experience some culture, character & architecture. You are right to suggest that Brisbane lacks personality. Southern states have much more. If you want the best of Queensland its on the coast.
All Australians cities are simply boring. They have no vibe. Some unpopular cities like Bishkek in Kyrgystan or Teheran in Iran, are so much more vibrant and literally FULL of life. Not to mention major European and Asian cities. Basically all Australians cities close at 5 pm and go to sleep.
Such a beautiful and modern city. Australia is an amazing country ❤❤❤
