I lived in Brisbane in my teens and twenties and Sydney 30's - 62. Moved to Perth to retire this year and of the 3 I think Perth is the most livable city, I'm very pleased with my decision to move here.
Talked up the parks in Brisbane but didn’t mention King’s Park in Perth, one of the biggest inner city parks in the world. Yes, it does light up in the summer with Fringe Festival, Arts Festival, outdoor cinemas, food trucks etc No mention of Bali as a major holiday destination for Perthites, 3 hour flight….
Wow is all I can say, only been here two days but already fell in love, Scarborough beach is amazing, my little boy loves it, got lots planned over the next 3 weeks so I’ll keep you posted but a great start to our future plans 💙

I live on the Gold Coast just south of Brisbane and I travel up to Brisbane fairly often. One thing about Brisbane is how difficult it is to learn your way around when driving, the roads are like a maze and everyone speeds. Take one wrong turn and you can end up in an underground toll road and pop out somewhere on the other side of town or even over the river.
I fly in to Perth once a month.. I’m here now. I had a shocker driving up the Tonkin highway this week. Tbf there are road works going on. Perth is pretty good if you want great beaches. The nightlife is also good. Opinions are like assholes.. everyone has one! Enjoy your trip to WA
@@pommygeezer9309 You are obviously the odd Pommy Geezer out. Perth has the highest number of UK migrants along with South Africans than any other state and the vast majority are glad they chose Perth.
I'm in Perth, just holidayed in Brisbane Nov 22. Perth has a small homeless problem in the CBD (small compared to Melbourne) with no apparent pushback by authorities to contain /help or move them on. Brisbane has a much more visible police presence in the CBD and the homeless seem to be contained a few streets away from the casino. Just an observation of a few days being a tourist, but Brisbane CBD "feels" safer than Perth CBD, but I've never had any problems in Perth having lived here over 50 years.
Definitely Perth. I've lived in all the major cities and settled in Perth because the lifestyle isn't rushed. It's actually the most remote city in the world but it's only a 3 to 5 hr flight to anywhere in Asia. Perth also has amazing beaches and food
I love the short flights as well, although outside of Indonesia, you're probably looking at closer to ~8 hours I think. It's an exciting feeling knowing that you could take a nap and wake up in Bali within a couple hours. Tickets are really cheap too. You can get returns for like $250-300 if you're not too picky. Particularly great if you're a remote worker and can travel.
Every australian city is so beautiful and we forget how blessed and lucky that country is. What a beautiful country, i miss home so much, cant wait to come back!!
Brisbane has Southbank it is an amazing family place, biggest outdoor pool I have ever seen, like a sandy beach, eats, theatres, art galleries ect all in walking distance
People over East always put Perth down but anyone from the Eastern states that ive ever met, they immediately change their mind as soon as they come over here because they fall in love with the place and they end up staying here for good. Plus there is the rest of WA, wich is breathtaking. Im Aussie born and bred, been all over the country and Perth is the best city by far and W.A is the best state. There is no comparison. Adelaide in South Australia would be my second pick before any place over east. I think South Australia is beautiful and highly underrated. Perth is not as windy as people make out, the weather is stunning, it's perfect infact. The bluest skies and world renowned beaches. I know because i'm in Perth right now and it's a constant delight. The beaches in WA are the best, Margaret River and Busselton and the South west coast is something that no where else in Australia can even hold a candle to. I lived in Margaret river and people were renewing their visa's just to come back, they could literally travel anywhere in the whole wide world but they wanted to come back to the south west of Australia. I promise you, Perth is the best city and WA is the best state. Our transport is known worldwide, we have amazing public transport and free transport in the city to see the sights. I could go on and on but take it from someone who's been around this country. PERTH/W.A is definately the winner 🏆 hand's down!!! Edit: someone mentioned Fremantle, yes, let's not forget wonderful Freo, wich is a town next to Perth and it's truly special. Full of history and the historic markets and the beautiful Esplanade and museums and the list goes on. Plus next to that is Rottnest island with the little quokkas, the only place in the world to see a quokka! This city/state is truly a blessing and we are so lucky to live here.
Oh man, for me it's Perth. I just traveled both of the citys and Perth is uptil now, my favourite city on the planet. I pan to get a visa und move to Perth permanently when i am done with my master. I see myself, working over the day, and spend my evenings on the beach with my wife and surf & on the weekend doing smaller 2 night trips in the area with a 4WD & enjoying the beautifuly costline. I think about living in perth every day for 4 years now :D * sorry for my spelling mistakes, still prepairing for the english-test for my visa, obveiosly i am not done yet :D ^^
I've had my heart set on Perth for a few years. I'm originally from the UK, currently living in Melbourne. I've been to sydney for a visit, but other than that, I haven't been anywhere else in Aus. I like certain aspects of Melbourne, but I hate the weather here. Very cold winters and inconsistent summer, so far. Also, I'm underwhelmed by the beaches surrounding the city. Thank you for your helpful comparison video. Both Brisbane and Perth sound amazing, but I think I have a bit more of a draw towards Perth. Also, I think I like the idea of it being so isolated.
I'm from London and now live in Perth. When you consider the important things in everyday life..climate, traffic, employment, crime (lack of), environment, space, air quality, restaurants, bars, beaches, scenery etc....Perth is pretty hard to beat on a global scale.
As someone who lives in Perth and has been to Brisbane, I'd say this is a pretty fair review. I think all Australian cities are great places to live and have different things to offer.
I leave near the sea in Brisbane, it is heaven on Earth. The consistent sea breezes temper the summer humidity. It is also less hectic on the coast, but anytime I want hectic it is one train ride away to the CBD.
Exactly. Brissy has a 66km coastline, if ocean views/marina vibes are your thing, there's plenty of it. To name a few: Manly, Cleveland, Redlands Bay, Redcliffe ...
As a retiree for a number of years, I moved to Western Australia in 2021 from Canberra (yes did the COVID19 Quarantine etc, etc.etc). along with moving my dog across Australia. I sold my ex house and purchased a 4 bedroom, 2 bathroom home in one of the coastal suburbs of Perth about 55 kms south. Having lived in Perth as a child, I always wanted to move back to Perth as it was the first part of Australia my family experienced having migrated from England. A 10 minute walk to the beach, 45 minute train journey to the City CBD and I am totally living the dream. Brisbane is not for me, floods, cyclones, humidity, yuck yuck yuck. Most of your video confirms and house prices are cheaper, cost of living is not too bad and the lifestyle is relaxed and lots of things to see and do. Lots of people are buying up investment properties or making the move to the West. Isolation is not a problem, like living anywhere you get used to where you live over time. Anyway an interesting video based on your experiences, but Perth is the winner for me.
Hi, my girlfriend and I are moving to Perth but I am concerned by alot of what I hear about scarcity of rental property. Don't want to end up spending a fortune on temporary accommodation. Should we be worried?
Loved the comparison Between Perth and Brisbane. There no mention on Kings Park probably the first Visit people make to go and see.. Never been to Brisbane but heard how Nice it is.
You keep mentioning Perth is windier. You make it sound like a negative but in reality the "Doctor" is such a relief on a hot summers day. Even the strong "Easterlies" from midnight on, bring a wonderful refreshing change in temperature. Brisbane doesn't enjoy that except in cyclone season.
It’s mostly a relief but there are days when it just won’t stop right from the morning. I remember from Feb onward last year there was no much wind so let’s see. I like playing tennis and this summer I’ve not had a single day when we didn’t have to battle the wind on the court. I fully expect to play like a pro in autumn when the wind stops 🤣🤣
Holidays you say Brisbane's closer to Sydney and Melbourne and you are correct BUT for people in Perth, Asia is on our doorstep. It's easier and so much cheaper to holiday in Bali than it is traveling all the way east for nothing special.
I've only ever lived in Perth and Brisbane.... Guess where I decided to stay?...... Yep Perth.. Better beaches, less humidity, the wind isnt as bad as this video reckons, its actually a blessing on hot summer days.
Today on the sunny coast just Nth of Bonehead formerly Brisbane bizzare winter balmy 27c more warm days to come until Tuesday. Nice to wear summer clothes
I'm keen to make the move to Perth from Sydney, mainly to try get into the house market and also don't mind the laid back lifestyle. Can't see a downside other than leaving family.
I moved to Perth from Sydney in 2009, I used to work as a store man in Sydney for 5 years. After living in Perth for 1 year I managed to get a fifo job in mines, sine 2010 I've built 3 houses, I live in one and have 2 rentals properties. Perth has been the best move I've made in my life.
been to Brisbane twice, it was ok, Perth wins hands down, it has a much more beautiful river waterway and it has better weather, it has more days of sunshine than Brisbane, it’s dryer here and not humid like Brisbane. Queensland is a beautiful state but city wise Perth trumps Brisbane or Brissy as they call it, urgh
Very long and cold and rainy winter in Perth versus short mild sunny winter in Brosbane. World class holiday island destinations near Brisbane while Perth has Rotto 😒
Lived in both. Both nice and similar, but Brisbane and SE Queensland has more to offer. Brisbane is more expensive compared to Perth’s cheaper housing but that is driven by Queenslands post Covid population growth and popularity. Easy to pop to Sydney in a hour and a half or even Fiji or skiing in NZ in three hours.
You can earn big money in WA due to mining. Less distance flying to Europe, Singapore, Africa, India, and Perth's favourite holiday spot Bali. It's cheap to fly there. Perth has been having a massive update over the past 5 years. Billions have been spent on improving and new infrastructure. It is a new modern up-dating city. WA is a prosperous state and has the money to improve. The only problem is people are moving to WA faster and services have difficulty keeping up with the volume of newcomers most from Europe and internal migration. Possibly Perth has the cleanest air most days of any modern state in the world. Our worst days are when it is decided to do bush backburning. WA population 2.667 million (Sep 2020). Perth population on 30th June 2022 is 2,225,710. Mil. WA population growth is approx 3% per year.
Brisbane is the larger/ more impressive city, it has two smaller orbiting cities (Sunshine coast and Gold Coast) within a comfortable commuting distance. The great barrier reef is within strike distance, as are semi-tropical rainforests, a plethora of theme parks are just down the road and unlike Perth it's connected to all the other major cities by passenger rail. You're also pretty close to New Zealand if you want to fly across and check it out sometime. Perth certainly isn't a bad place though, just a bit disconnected from the world.
Perth is only "hot" for about 3 months of the year, it has a very mediterranean climate for about 4-5 months and is cold for 4-5 months. Brisbane feels hot for about 6 months of the year. It is easier to cool off in Perth. Perth is much easier to get around in; people spend far less time on a commute - there is also an excellent public transport (buses, trains) system tied in closely to the highway and freeway system. I have lived for many years in both cities. As far as beaches go there is just no comparison and you are only a max of 30 minutes away from a beach anywhere in Perth. House prices are only very high in both cities if you have a desperate need to live near to the CBD's and are very reasonable if you live 30-40 minutes drive away from work. The houses are much "prettier" in Brisbane, but as the lady says, they are far more expensive in Brissy. I think Brisbane is more suited to young couples who don't have children. Perth is extremely child friendly and there's much less stress on family life. The biggest downside to Perth is the feeling that you are two-dimensionally trapped between the hills and the sea. However, you just have to drive a couple of hours either north or south and you are met with the most incredible expanse of Australian nature. Perth is also amazingly close to Asia. 4 hours gets you to Singapore and about 3 hours to Bali. As you can see from some of the comments there is a fair bit of prejudice from eastern state people towards people from Perth. Some of this may originate in WA's attempt to secede from Australia in I think the 1930's (the only reason this did not happen was because the British government just ignored the referendum result). Perhaps as a consequence of this "attitude" I think Perth and WA people have great resilience and independence in how they approach the idea of what it means to be an Australian. I personally couldn't give two stuffs for any of that childish parochialism. WA is about 1/3 of the landmass of Australia (which is the same size as the contiguous USA) with only about 2.5 million people. Let that sink in.
A lot of the resentment comes from the fact that W.A makes most of Australias wealth from agriculture and mining but when it gets divvied up by the Federal Govt. W.A. gets a very low pecentage of that income.
Ian Wilson - Define cold. I always thought Perth is warm all year around. I live in British Columbia, Canada, but when we say warm, that means 28 - 32 C. Cold can vary between 2C. to -5 for 6 weeks in winter in Vancouver to -32C. inland.
Hi…..that was a great review….I live on the Central Coast NSW…My wife and I are moving to North of Perth in March this year. Can’t stand living on the Coast any longer…to many idiots around after “Covid” no common sense, inpatient drivers, and don’t get me started on public transport “clowns”…..My wife and I holiday in Perth in September 22 and absolutely loved the place, friendly people, Infrastructure is better, plenty of park space…..yes I know they hit you up in parking meters….sold our home in less than 2 Weeks and managed to pick up a 2018 built, 4 bedroom, ducted AC, with pool with all the modes and cons with change 💵 left over in a great area. 😊
I love the layout of Melbourne, so easy to get around and lots to see, but as a tourist the graffiti and homeless is a turnoff. Homelessness is a small problem in Perth CBD, hopefully the authorities don't let it get out of control.
Anywhere along the scarp in the morning! We get roaring easterly winds in the morning and often need to pick up our bins. I work in Kwinana and we get good sea breezes in the afternoon
@@Brian_Saginashvili_ I should have noted the bottom of the scarp. At least it is from Armadale to Serpentine. I would have thought it was windy up top as well, but clearly it is mostly as the easterly drops down to the coastal plain
I am from Canada. I'd like to live in Perth pr outside of Perth 3 months a year. Where is the cheap but good place to rent a condo? I like beaches and driving. Thanks.
I lived in Perth for a time as a child. I have dual Canadian/Aus citizenship so thinking about moving there at some point. Aus is getting expensive, however compared to Vancouver still cheap.
You can also fly to other towns within Western Australia 1-3hour flights both north & south of WA to explore 1000’s of great tourist attractions, you could do family holidays 4x per year for 5 years without leaving WA & see something new each time.
Hi, were finding it really hard to decide where to move to from the UK. Perth is my first choice. I have 3 daughters, 2 of whom are 18 and 19. Is there enough for them in Perth?
I would say yes. It’s still a decent-sized city, even if it’s not the biggest in Australia. There’s nightlife and great places for day trips etc. Also it’s not far to fly to Bali, which I imagine is popular with people of that age.
The temperature in Perth can reach 45- 46 degrees in summer & that's normal. 31 degrees is more like our spring season. There is a period in summer that it is humid like Brisbane due to the cyclones up north. Autumn is our windy season not summer. We have Rottnest island.
@@Boozoobajou1 I submit to you the following Qld islands that sh1t all over that barren piece of rock called "Rotto": Fraser Island Whitsunday Islands Stradbroke Islands Hamilton Island Great Keppel Island Magnetic Island. There are of course many many more. But you get my point.
I moved to Perth after lived in Sydney 5 years, Canberra 1 year and Melbourne 11 years. Perth is beautiful city. I didn't feel any winds in Perth which are heavier than Melbourne.
@@User69390 100% Perth, only sad thing is missing all my friends in Melbourne. Perth offers a lot of shopping centres, cheap housing and very less traffic. So many things to do within 60 minutes of radius. Lastly, bad weather in Melbourne and a much better predictable whether in Perth.
Was interested in moving to Adelaide after visiting from the UK but Perth is now looking like the best bet. Much easier to fly to from UK and more job opportunities/better pay with similar cost of living
Adelaide is exquisite. Very very elegant and charming and European unlike the other cities. It vibes in all 4 seasons whereas Perth is def a summer city.
As someone who lives in Perth, Perth is a great choice. However, I think any Australian city is a good choice when it comes down to it - as long as you can afford it.
Depends where you live. I live opposite the beach. It blows your bloody head off. It’s hard to grow any nice plants in my front garden as they have to be hardy. No pretty flowers for me
Born and raised in Adelaide and having lived in all of Australia's capital cities, Perth is no way the windiest city in Australia or the world. I once lived in Melbourne for 6 months, and that is hands down the windiest city in Australia. The reason why the rumour spread of Perth being windy is because of the "Fremantle Doctor" a strong, cool breeze that comes off the south west Indian Ocean in the summer time afternoons. I have lived 5 minutes from the coast for most of my 23 years in Perth, and it is either dead calm or gently breezy most of the year. The "Fremantle Doctor" is a cool, welcoming breeze that is soothing and cooling on summer afternoons. If you are on certain beaches during summer afternoons, it feels more like a wind. But it's no way like Melbourne, which is windy anywhere you go at any time of the year.
I would reiterate that. You've done your homework & I'm very impressed. I'm from Brisbane but spent 2 weeks visiting Perth with trips north to Kalbarri & south to Albany. The people in Perth are the most parochial in Australia with a love hate relationship with eastern states. To be fair, Qld use to be exactly like that decades ago. The 2 things I would miss most living in Perth would be mountains (Stirling Ranges are over 400 km away) & rainforests. The Darling 'Ranges' are about 1/3 the height of Mt Cootha. The latter at least offers a nice view of Brisbane. There are numerous national parks near Brisbane with small groves of rainforest. Mt Glorious, Mt Tamborine, Lamington NP, Springbrook, Blackall Ranges etc @@dreamingofdownunder
I am from Perth but have lived in Brisbane for 22 years. Very similar feel, both friendly and I love them both the same. I lived in Sydney for 6 months and left in that time and went back to Brisbane. Sydney was not for me.
A greatly illuminating video to help us understand what each city has to offer. As I have said before, until your comparison videos, even locals are likely to be confused as to what it is great about their own city in particular. :) I lived in Perth 18 years ago. I thought I would like prefer it due to the smaller size though it didn't work out that way as I found the city centre not that appealing and I felt too isolated there though of course the beaches and the place in general is great. :) If I went there now, I may feel different but my life is too linked to Sydney now to even consider it.
Hi me and my girlfriend are moving to Perth but understand the renting market to be very competitive. We wanted to survey the market a bit before we go, so I thought I would ask whether you lease your properties?
I only spent 13 years in Brissie and left in 2010 so take this for what you will. IMO, SE Qld has been a victim of it's own success and many people trying to escape the problems of our larger cities bought those problems with them. Traffic and youth crime aren't unique to Brisbane or the Gold Coast, but throw in the housing crisis and any future 'refugees' really need to temper their expectations. On the positive side, that skyline does look great during Riverfire.
I was born in Perth, but spent 10 years on the eastern seaboard of the country, which included 3 years in the Brisbane area. It would be correct to say I'm prejudiced when it comes to a choice, but it would also be correct to say that I feel justified in my reasoning when promoting Perth as the premier city of the two for a whole raft of reasons. It is telling that when deciding to raise a family my first thoughts was to return to Perth as the preferred option for child rearing. For a start, while the climate may entertain similar temperatures, you get NOTHING like the humidity of Brisbane in Perth. You also don't get hail the size of golf balls. I once saw a 5 min hail storm do over $3 million damage to an airfield in Brisbane. You can swim in the waters off Perth without worrying about jellyfish that can kill. Sharks, yes, but they occur in both areas. Nor do we have a Fraser Island with dingoes running rampant. The Quokkas may give you a cheeky grin though... There is way more to Perth than beaches and pretty scenery; if you think otherwise then you really haven't bothered to look. In the main I have found Perth people to be more generous of heart than Brisbanites. Evidence of this, for example, is the longest running Telethon on television when compared to ..... literally anywhere else on earth! Every single year since it's inception has seen record levels of donations. My own experience of living in Brisbane or the Gold Coast has been that people are OK so long as you have a buck in your pocket.
I think I should also add that probably any city in Australia is preferable to most other places [countries] around the world. While I have my preferences, I have to say that having lived and worked in Perth, Brisbane, Melbourne and visited/worked in Sydney, Canberra and Adelaide, none of them are bad. Each have their pluses and minuses [Yes, even Perth! though I hate to say it] but by and large Australia is a truly great place to live and bring up a family.
@@trevorwilson2966 You have a point, although they have been reported as far south as Hervey Bay. Similarly with Fraser Island too. Both areas are known visitation locations for tourists travelling to Brisbane, however, which is why I pointed them out. I could equally have compared Melbourne where I lived for over 4 years but that wasn't showcased by the video. I get that you are defending your own backyard so to speak. Fair Enough. Having lived in both locations [for just over 3 years in Brisbane's case], however, I know where my own preferences lie.
50cent transport fees in Queensland anyone? Also why are people worried about rain? It's part of life and if you are a keen gardener absolutely essential and if it's too warm rain is always a welcome change
Lived in both and providing your are a professional or have mining experience your live in Perth will be nicer and less stressful as traffic is not as bad. Also if you are an Immigrant from Europe or Africa the ethnic food availability and housing quality is much better ..
@@zeropoint546I thought it was but totally not Gold coast has beautiful sunset and beaches that comfortable to play with. Beaches in Perth are often too windy. And Perth is horriblely sunny and dry Gold coast has the best climate in Australia
My favourite part of living in Brisbane is the warm, dry, sunny winter months. Bit chilly in the evening and morning but lovely warm sunshine between 9 and 3 even in midwinter. February and March though are hot and humid with warm and sticky nights. Thank heavens for aircon.
Anywhere near a train station. For Perth I'll specifically single out South Fremantle, Victoria Park, Canning Bridge precinct, anywhere along the Fremantle Line, and funny enough parts of the suburb of Perth, and East Perth
Queensland gets storms and other parts of South East Queensland get storms and rain. Most (90%) weather doesn't reach Brisbane CBD. It goes North, South, East, West or disappears before reaching Brisbane CBD, unfortunately. Very sad
That's because they were comparing 2 main cities but just wait till they arrive and discover Freo too, it will be like the gift that just keeps on giving! I LOVE FREMANTLE!!!
I was born in Fremantle and just loved it as a kid with beautiful Victorian and Georgian-style buildings but unfortunately, due to the Greens and Laborite councils it has deteriorated into a woke s...hole commonly known as Freakmantle. Junkies, anti-social behaviour, backpackers and others defecating in shop doorways and down alleyways. Most retailers have either closed shop or moved further out due to high theft and poor sales.
Brisbane is much better if you want to be connected to the rest of the country and the world. It also has a distinctive culture and architecture found nowhere else. It is significantly larger than Perth once you factor in the 2 coasts on your doorstep, which adds another million people.
Some context. Brisbane climate is hot and humid December to mid March. 2/3 of the year it is pleasant. Unlike Perth, it rains in summer so there are periods of summer that aren’t too muggy.
Hardly ever rains in Perth in summer unless a very occasional summer thunderstorm almost 6 months without rain last year 2023 and nine days above 40 degrees
@@dreamingofdownunder Perth is the mining capital of the world, it has a booming economy but you have to work hard, someone said it was laid back, might be if you are a hippy from Fremantle but a boom town really
if you work on the mines, then yes. The city itself has seen a lot of progress in the last 10-15 years during boom time and it has improved for the better. It's looking great. The over all feel of Perth though being centred around the beach lifestyle is pretty laid back, and that's not a bad thing.
There are lots of different visas, but if you want to move permanently, I would start by looking through the permanent residency options on the government website: immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/ You can also use a migration agent for advice (make sure they are MARA registered). Best of luck!
Perth is closest to south east Asia so really close to Bali obviously but also to all the Asian countries which makes holidays overseas closer and cheaper.
I'm a QLDer but really enjoyed my Perth days. I think Perth is better overall, only detractors is it's geographically isolated, even in timezone differences, therefore collaborations with other Aus cities are a bit more difficult. The colder, wetter winters were very different, as was the 4pm "Fremantle Doctor". QLD has fallen behind due to a faulty Premier and very conservative government, not adaptable at all to what the Australian people want.
As a Brit who's lived in Perth for 20 years, but nowhere else (family is here), Perth is parochial and conservative and very suburban in attitude and physically. But it's also got amazing natural beauty. Summer is definitely more active than winter. But if you're from the main population areas in Europe you'll feel the isolation. At the moment it costs around $1000 for a return plane trip out of the state. Including going to the eastern cities. Bali I think is cheaper. You're lucky if you can get a return flight to London for $1700 return. Typically about $2000. So be warned!
@@connorduke4619 They don't! McGowan is tge epitome of centrist. In some areas he's right of centre, in others a bit left. He's absolutely no Marxist. Does he have slight authoritarian leanings?

Brisbane has Southbank it is an amazing family place, biggest outdoor pool I have ever seen, like a sandy beach, eats, theatres, art galleries ect all in walking distance
Southbank is world class, up there with Darling Harbour in Sydney.

Sounds like you would definitely prefer Perth if you don’t mind the isolation. The beaches are fantastic and the weather’s pretty good too!
Perth has some of the best beaches in the world, not just Australia.
if you want beaches, Perth wins hands down.
I think Philippines wins it hands down about beaches.
I love Brisbane, so much better than Sydney and Melbourne but nothing compares to Perth, amazing city but an even more amazing state
Great video! Currently living in Brisbane but thinking to move to Perth. I am English and like the flight connections from there.
Thanks! Good luck with your decision.
As someone who lives in Perth and has been to Brisbane, I'd say this is a pretty fair review. I think all Australian cities are great places to live and have different things to offer.
As someone who has worked in all capitals and lived in a few of them I couldn't agree more.
@@JRB33 the rental market is tough at the moment, but that's pretty standard across Australia.

I don't think she even mentioned Fremantle
When you see those Perth kitesurfers playing amazingly in the waves along the beautiful beaches, you won't say windy is a matter in Perth
The free o Doctor.
Perth is no doubt the most beautiful city in the world. Clean safe, amazing weather, beaches and wineries on the doorstep.
Holidays you say Brisbane's closer to Sydney and Melbourne and you are correct BUT for people in Perth, Asia is on our doorstep. It's easier and so much cheaper to holiday in Bali than it is traveling all the way east for nothing special.
Bali is so special then.Full of aussie bogans. If you go somewhere decent in Asia like Tokyo then Brisbane is closer.

Let that sink in.
u prefer perth over bris?
Perth is meth capital. Meth city

A lot of the resentment comes from the fact that W.A makes most of Australias wealth from agriculture and mining but when it gets divvied up by the Federal Govt. W.A. gets a very low pecentage of that income.

Depends where you live. I live opposite the beach. It blows your bloody head off. It’s hard to grow any nice plants in my front garden as they have to be hardy. No pretty flowers for me
@novalee4650 it depends where you live. Is why most people don't wish to live directly across from the ocean. Wind tends towards being corrosive too.
Nonsense…I’ve lived in both and Perth is much more windy.
Well articulated. Well researched
Thank you!

Perth vibe is more of a town than city which I find quite nice. It's very laidback as well. I've never been to Brisbane so I can't compare.
❤
I think I should also add that probably any city in Australia is preferable to most other places [countries] around the world. While I have my preferences, I have to say that having lived and worked in Perth, Brisbane, Melbourne and visited/worked in Sydney, Canberra and Adelaide, none of them are bad. Each have their pluses and minuses [Yes, even Perth! though I hate to say it] but by and large Australia is a truly great place to live and bring up a family.
What killer jellyfish are in Brisbane.
@@trevorwilson2966 You have a point, although they have been reported as far south as Hervey Bay. Similarly with Fraser Island too. I could equally have compared Melbourne where I lived for over 4 years but that wasn't showcased by the video. I get that you are defending your own backyard so to speak. Fair Enough. Having lived in both locations [for just over 3 years in Brisbane's case], however, I know where my own preferences lie.

Queensland gets storms and other parts of South East Queensland get storms and rain. Most (90%) weather doesn't reach Brisbane CBD. It goes North, South, East, West or disappears before reaching Brisbane CBD, unfortunately. Very sad
Brisbane is too busy, the traffic is ridiculous. Humidity sucks too.
Brisbane is the most congested Australian city.
well, most of what you said resonates with me, so for anyone reading the comments, this is a good insight into the two cities ;)
Thank you!
Been all over Australia from Melbourne Perth hands down slightly pricey is the only concern food accommodations etc
Lived in perth for 20 years ,live in poole ,dorset now ....WA is a great state for road tripping but just found Perth pretty mind numbing
Happy to see you have left our state. May you live in miserable joy in your miserable new residence.
What's WA mean?
@@Peacemakerblue It means WhatsApp
@@muhammadamjad3659 lol Western Australia
I love AUSTRALIA!! Hi from BRAZIL
Me too! Hi from Aus!
Interesting. I lived there for 5 years, but left for Canada instead. Better opportunities, not as hot to work in.
There are so many Brazilians in Queensland. The flight from Brazil to Australia takes super long though.
Qld the tropical state similar climate Brazil
No mention of Fremantle?
It’s windy every day in perth. The offshore winds start to pick up at 2:30 every single day without fail
Brisbane is much better if you want to be connected to the rest of the country and the world. It also has a distinctive culture and architecture found nowhere else. It is significantly larger than Perth once you factor in the 2 coasts on your doorstep, which adds another million people.
Agreed, there is still some cool old architecture in Brisbane.
Qld style house looks gruesome 🤮🤮
I've never really noticed Perth being particularly windy.
i agree, Rebecca... it seems to be something of a misconception.
Some context. Brisbane climate is hot and humid December to mid March. 2/3 of the year it is pleasant. Unlike Perth, it rains in summer so there are periods of summer that aren’t too muggy.
Hardly ever rains in Perth in summer unless a very occasional summer thunderstorm almost 6 months without rain last year 2023 and nine days above 40 degrees
should have mentioned Kings park, The Pinnacles
Yes true!
I am a Belgian citizen and I would like to live in Australia. What are the procedures and thank you?
There are lots of different visas, but if you want to move permanently, I would start by looking through the permanent residency options on the government website:
immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/
You can also use a migration agent for advice (make sure they are MARA registered).
Labor's been in power for years
Conservative? We want it more conservative, the Premier is a fkn liberal idiot
In Qld there is alot of shows and activities to go to and it's very interesting.
If Perth is so conservative, why did they keep electing Marxist governments?
@@connorduke4619 They don't! McGowan is tge epitome of centrist. In some areas he's right of centre, in others a bit left. He's absolutely no Marxist. Does he have slight authoritarian leanings? Maybe. But authoritarian isn't a left or right, capitalism or socialist thing. When you look back at his stance over covid, he was pretty harsh with mandatory jabs for working in certain jobs. But his lockdown was less stringent than VIC, and we opened up only a month after other states.
@@danellis-jones1591 Thanks for the feedback, I don't live in WA and only noted McGowan acted likes a despicable Andrews clone during much of Covid. It is possible he has more humanlike and even centrist traits in other matters. I will note that all the world's "great"authoritarians came form the far left though: Stalin, Mao, head of the German national socialist party Hitler, likewise Mussolini, Pol Pot, Fidel Castro, Kim Jun Un, etc.
@@connorduke4619 Hitler wasn't a leftist, like the Democratic Republic of Germany (East Germany), wasn't exactly democratic.
@@danellis-jones1591 In disrupting the functioning of free markets and coercing companies to do his bidding, Hitler was the poster child of a fascist (externally violent) socialist (meddler with free markets).
6:14 As a Brisbane local I can confirm the sun sets a bit earlier than Perth, during summer, for sure.
In Winter it's even more extreme... you end your day shift at 5pm and then start going home and it goes from day to night in about 10 mins. The sun ain't got no time for Brisbane during winter. The sun is all like, "screw you guys, I'm getting home, before you lot... laterz." 😂
