Little bit more on the history of the Bell tower. The then State conservative Premier Richard Court paid for it by ripping the guts out of the industrial awards of Department of Justice officers to the tune of 35 million. To those locals the locks represent the thousands of unpaid 12 hour shifts staff worked in exchange for keeping their paid public holidays.

Hi there to you both we are based in the Midlands. Love Newquay great for surfing we remember enjoy and hoping you have good English weather. Have a good time Beth and Simon 🙋💚
Enjoyed. All true. Came from U.K in 1962. A complete love affair for beautiful Perth. Only ret to UK once. Settled in Mandurah twenty yrs ago. How about showing our town next.
It's a lovely city! We've really grown to enjoy it over the past few weeks, the weather has been amazing every day too (though too hot on some days lol)
Thanks for a good view and walkabout of Perth. It looks like a lovely city. Why do you knock Brisbane? Every city has things that can be knocked. Brisbane is also a lovely city.
That's crazy to have the worry of car hire and parking when staying near the CBD. There is a brilliant shuttle bus service that covers five or so routes and all of the city. Interconnects with the excellent light rail system then coastal buses. Great place for getting around and not having to get behind the wheel of a car.
I have lived in Perth for 28 years and if you are planning on visiting I would not take Frank’s advice. Hiring a car is absolutely the way to go even if you are staying in the CBD. Perth is a geographically sprawling city with places worth visiting in every corner. Whilst the public transport isn’t bad it is just so easy to get around with a car. The traffic is light outside of morning and afternoon peak hour and most places have free or cheap parking. There’s no real way to tour Perth’s many beaches with any efficiency other than with a car and if you want to go to the Swan Valley or pretty much anywhere besides the city centre and Fremantle having a car is the best way to go.
@@MegaLiterally But it's still great to take every opportunity to not use a car. If you have to, of course, but it is better for your own experience, and locally to use alternatives whenever you can. I think Perth offers better services than many other Australian cities, which allows car volumes to remain thankfully low -- compared to a city like Hobart which provides no alternatives and thus has worse traffic
Perth has to have some of the most beautiful city beaches in the world. The sand is so sugar white and the turquoise waters are like your in the tropics without the coconut palms.. People who visit think its quiet but its decentralised. The nightlife area Northbrisge is just behind the city, a bit like Fortitude Valley in Brisbane. You have Hillarys boat harbour, the Swan valley, Scarborough and the jewel of Perth, Fremantle. Places like Adelaide have half the population seem much more vibrant but dont have much outside the centre.
Living in Perth is great you should check out the boat house, sicirellos and just the more isolated beaches because they are generally nicer. good tour got the main parts of the city. you can get smart rider to get around on bus and train anywhere and it nice too.:)
If you do one thing in your life make sure you visit Perth and use it as a base to explore north and south Western Australia 😍 some of the most beautiful beaches in the whole wide world!!
Elizabeth Quay would be so much better if they filled it in and planted grass. Then concerts could be held there. And Riverside Drive could be a continuous scenic route all along the water's edge from the Causeway to Crawley.
@@chriswatson1698 I mean, you've literally the remainder of the whole city for performance spaces and you want to destroy something unique to make more of the same. Ok then.
Good video. Love to visit Perth. Do you guys think it’s better than Brisbane? You guys are certainly living it up in the hermit kingdom. Be looking forward to seeing your next video 😃

Lottery west is a great name , if you had any idea what you are talking about you would know that Lottery West Federation bridge was paid for from the profits from lottery tickets from the public of Perth , the people who actually live here
Adelaide is so cute and sweet, European vibes there, the buildings...Adelaide Botanical Garden/Art Gallery/South Australian Museum highly recommended. All three very close to each other. Hi all from “Perth” me an my family are from the U.K. and are heading out to Perth in October as we are thinking of making the decision to relocate to Perth . Any feedback would be much appreciated all, big love from Liverpool England 🏴 x
Hi Neil! We are currently in the UK actually 😁 hope you had a lovely Christmas. Perth is a wonderful place to live. We actually stayed there for 3 months during our Big Lap of Australia. And some friends who did the lap with us, they relocated from Brisbane to Perth after they completed their Big Lap. So that says a lot about it really. As a base to explore australia, it is both super remote and the closest you will get to some of the most beautiful locations in the country. We absolutely fell in love with Western Australia, the entire coastline is so diverse and so unique and Perth sits pretty right in the middle of it all. In terms of business opportunities, Western Australia, I believe, is the wealthiest state in the country. So whatever you do I’m sure you will manage to find your niche there or you will be able to work remotely. The cafe culture is solid and so is the remote working community with many hubs located all over the city. Really hope this helps and wishing you all the best on your big life change ❤️

Just a heads up…Rental housing is as rare as hens teeth at the moment. All over Australia. Perth is stunning. Lived here for 40 years and it still amazes me.
Perth is much cleaner and a bit cooler and less humid and damp than Brisbane. The streets and build areas are cleaner and not dusty like Brisbane. Buildings and architecture look better, not like third world Brisbane. Especially I prefer people in Perth, they are more hygiene, better looking and more civic and polite
We’ve lived in Brisbane for many years and it’s a beautiful city! It’s far from third world 😂 Though the humidity is a struggle in summer. However, Perth was dry but SO hot. Too hot to do anything outside on those 40c days 🥵 loved how close the city is to the beach. Are you from Perth?
Perth is cooler in the cooler months but a lot hotter in summer. Brissie is generally more humid and has wetter summers while Perth has wetter winters. A Mediterranean climate.
Hello we really need help because we can’t book direct flight to perth WA. We are permanent resident and fully vaccinated. If we have stop over in Melbourne do we neede to do quarantine there before going to perth? Pls help us! Thank u
Would have been actually nice to see some of Perth for the entire 18 minutes rather than most of the video taken up by you guys talking into the camera . Probably about 2 minutes of Perth and the rest taken up by filming yourselves talking , walking and eating. Just my opinion of course .
Thanks H Moffatt, we are always adapting and changing our style. Hopefully you might like our newer content from the UK.. ✌🏼😁 we appreciate the feedback
My Signature is on the Bell Tower Floor, We also filled a Time Capsule, Unfortunately it's in Danger. Back in 1999, 200,000 West Australian school students signed thier name on a peice of paper which would be transfered onto ceramic tiles that would then be paved into a pathway which sits as a monument outside the Perth Bell tower, which was constructed at the same time. The West Australian premier, Colin Barnett has cut funding to schools, hospitals, and special needs students just so that he can spend a repoted 52 billion dollars on facelifting the city of Perth. During this process, he has insulted the 200,000 students who signed thier name on the mass plaque in the area. Colin Barnett only cares about himself and has a very descrtucive desire. He is destroying the look of Perth and wasting too much money, and putting the state into debt.
Oh wow. Amazing that your name is on the tile!! That’s a an incredible amount of money to spend on the city. I wonder if that’s mainly because the price of labour is so high or they have some very impressive technological additions to build?
@@cjexplores It almost seems like anything that Colin Barnett was wanting to build from 2010 was almost an unrealistic price, Yes the signatures are really cool, it actually gave us something to connect with in Perth, it also made us want to look after our city as kids let alone adults, our schools had such cool projects for us, I miss those days hahaha The DNA tower you climbed brings back memories, the thrill and fear climbing up that high as kids was good fun, You have an amazing channel by the looks, amazing work travelling the world, that's what life is really about

Parking in Perth CBD is crap. Wilsons are the most hated company in Aust. Bayswater Council got them into 8th Ave. No-one goes there anymore. Ruined a good little shopping street.
Jealousy I would suspect the 2022-23 State Budget confirms the WA economy powers the nation WA's economy grew by 7.2 per cent during the pandemic, the strongest in the nation. and a 7 billion dollar budget surplus while the rest of Australia is in the red. By the way, how are your power blackouts going?
I thought you meant you were going to use the Thanks button to tip us then! Thanks for your feedback. Over the years, we have noticed that cinematic videos tend to reach less viewers than videos with a person in them. We have the analytics to prove it.

@@sbdiaries thank you guys we have a lovely day down here today 😁 especially compared to our Scottish holiday last week 🤣
Also if you want to go to beaches preferably I like Fremantle because of all the nice pubs and small stores as well as beautiful beaches and museums.
We spent the day exploring Fremantle this past weekend! We're releasing a vlog of Fremantle soon 😀
Enjoyed. All true. Came from U.K in 1962. A complete love affair for beautiful Perth. Only ret to UK once. Settled in Mandurah twenty yrs ago. How about showing our town next.
Hi Cheral ✨ thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed it! We hope to visit Perth again next year, though we have no flights booked as of yet 😁
Such a beautiful comment..
Perth looks really nice.
No worries! We love Brisbane too, sorry if it came across as negative, just a comparison of the main shopping districts of the two capitals
That's crazy to have the worry of car hire and parking when staying near the CBD. There is a brilliant shuttle bus service that covers five or so routes and all of the city. Interconnects with the excellent light rail system then coastal buses. Great place for getting around and not having to get behind the wheel of a car.
Thanks for sharing Frank! I’m sure there will be plenty of visitors who find this helpful. I’ll pin your comment to the top 🙌🏼
@@MegaLiterally I suppose it comes down to budget and personal preference??

@@cjexplores Welcome thank you for your concern.
Love your take on Perth Duncan! 🙌🏼🤩

The glass bridge sounds a lot better than the official title! 😂

Elizabeth Quay would be so much better if they filled it in and planted grass. Then concerts could be held there. And Riverside Drive could be a continuous scenic route all along the water's edge from the Causeway to Crawley.
Maybe, but there’s also the massive Langley Park just down the road and I think they hold festivals there too!
Fill it in?! They just dredged it. They do hold concerts there by bringing in a floating stage.
That would be amazing to see Peter!

Hello Sheza, we’re planning on visiting Adelaide in a few months! We’ll definitely make a vlog of our trip 🙌
Adelaide is so cute and sweet, European vibes there, the buildings...Adelaide Botanical Garden/Art Gallery/South Australian Museum highly recommended. All three very close to each other. Don't miss the the Wined Bar (National wine centre of Australia) close to Botanical Garden🍷🍾, enjoying nice wine and a cheese platter after long walks. Perhaps, you can visit when there is Adelaide Fringe, the awesome music and food festival🍝🥘🥗🍲🍻🥂🍾🥃🍹....just checked: unfortunately already finished on 20th of March😭

Best thing about Perth is seeing it through the rear view mirror.
Sounds like you had a rough time there mate! Dare you to give it another go 😉
Perth is much cleaner and a bit cooler and less humid and damp than Brisbane.
Nice one David 🙌🏼😉

@@cjexplores It almost seems like anything that Colin Barnett was wanting to build from 2010 was almost an unrealistic price, Yes the signatures are really cool, it actually gave us something to connect with in Perth, it also made us want to look after our city as kids let alone adults, our schools had such cool projects for us, I miss those days hahaha

WA's economy grew by 7.2 per cent during the pandemic, the strongest in the nation. and a 7 billion dollar budget surplus while the rest of Australia is in the red. By the way, how are your power blackouts going?
