Such a not only beautiful city but the country as a whole. As a person from the United States, 🇺🇸 I would love to visit someday! What a stunning, unique, breathtaking of a beautiful country. God bless New Zealand. ❤🇳🇿
As an American, I have always been intrigued by New Zealand. How could such a remote country, seemingly in the middle of nowhere, achieve so much progress? What a clean and civilized-looking city! A true gem of the modern world that I hope to visit someday.
Complete contrast with the UK. Traffic jams galore. Roadworks galore, road closures galore, trash dumped everywhere, people everywhere you go, people dressed in cheap, unwashed tracksuits, shoddy housing, rip off rents, high inflation, low salaries....
the drive along the water towards the downtown, with the weather and quasi-space needle building, all make me think of how this city looks so much like seattle
I'm from Auckland but now live in the US. Seattle is the city that reminds me the most of home (including the weather). Auckland doesn't have as many problems with homelessness and drug dependency though.
Yeah I've heard people compare Auckland to Seattle a few times before. San Francisco & Los Angeles (California as a whole) are also mentioned a fair amount when drawing similarities to Auckland as well. When people talk about the similarities between the two countries in general, New Zealand is always compared to the West Coast, never the East Coast or other regions of the U.S it seems.

Yes, we like our pickup trucks as well. Mostly mid-size trucks, though the larger American full-size trucks have slowly started to become popular down here as well.
@@dallasfrost1996Do you also call them "Utes" like they do in Australia? I am in the U.S and have never been to Australia or NZ but I ask because I watch a lot of series/ movies from Australia and there is a very popular series called " McLeod's Daughters" set in a cattle station and I noticed they called their pick -up trucks "Utes". It's changed a lot in the last few years. Never used to be like that. Theyve put a lot of work into public transport, bike lanes, greenery and making the city people friendly, and its paying off. It's good to see it improving. Still lots more to be done.
As an American its odd that there are english countries on the other side of the world lol, looks nice though I'm getting my passport so I'll visit one day.
Interesting. In the early part of the video, I saw signs on the highway (aka 'motorway' in NZ) showing an exit for Fanshawe Street, and another for the town of Hamilton. I live in London, Ontario, Canada, and here we have a Fanshawe Park Road, a community college called Fanshawe College, and in the northeast corner of town, just outside the suburban areas, a small lake called Fanshawe Lake where there is a Pioneer Village and a public campground. And there also is the city of Hamilton, which is a 90-minute drive east. Of course, these commonalities between Canada and New Zealand are the result of the British colonial heritage of both countries, where street and place names are often derived from their namesakes in Great Britain, or relate to people or other things (particularly historical figures) from that country.
We New Zealander's use the terms "motorway" and "highway" interchangeably. Our national roading network is based off California's "State Highway" route system. The piece of highway at the beginning of the video right before taking the Fanshawe exit consists of two separate highways that run side-by-side of eachother (N.Z State-Highway 1 & N.Z State-Highway 16).
I am from NZ and lived in Toronto for a year. You will find 40% of the names here what you will find in Canada. Like Hamilton, Cambridge. Queen St, Glenfield, Fanshawe etc.
My dream from childhood has always been to travel the world at the age of 25 due to a retina problem I lost most of my eye sight but still I wanna pursue my dreams Watching these videos really motivates me to run after my dreams 🎭 I wanna be an inspiration for others through my channel 💙
@@MazeBeam2 The Chatham Islands are in the western hemisphere, so a small fraction of NZ is haha. If you count Tokelau, the Cook Islands and Niue those are western hemisphere too. Interestingly enough one alternative definitions also use 20 W and 160 E as the border, this prevents parts of Europe from being in this definition of the western hemisphere and I guess is kind of analagous to the concept of the New World vs the Old World.
The downtown area is walkable but outside of that everything is still very sprawling and car centric although things have been improving in the last few decades. Auckland is still very much behind most comparable cities in Australia and Canada in terms of public transport.

Saludos😉
