I can't belive after 9 years I still keep coming to this video! Miss you, Sonia.❤
Nice video. You do a very good job helping travelers. Keep up the good work.
I'm so happy with your "bom dia" in Portuguese. I'm Brazilian and I subscribed in your channel.
Thanks. sounds great. Will have to watch over and over. I'm the one to take everything I own.
your Portuguese was SPOT on! good job!
I'm telling you for a city girl like me, this is not too much. I always overpack and have to worry about the weight, and stuff I bring back. And all the time I come back with clothes I brought untouched. So I'm going to follow this for sure when I go to Greece this summer
Love these tips! I'll probably watch this video 15 times before packing for our 2-week family vacation: 5 times for my suitcase and 5 times for each of the kids. (Huz packs his own.) Muito obrigada!
I've been on 3-4 week trips with just a carry-on, and my packing is really similar to yours with some little differences based on what I'm comfortable with (2 weeks of undies!), and what I find I need less of (2 pairs of shoes - one I wear on the plane, so only one needs to be packed.) You are absolutely right about bringing a big suitcase, and finding you don't really need or want everything you bring. I think it helps to have a trip or two under your belt to really pinpoint your needs.
Thank you Sonia for learning my language, it's a little bit difficult but you know so many that it will be easy!!
Lots of people need this advice. Thanks.
I just wanted to say Thanks! I'm moving from Sweden to England in a couple of weeks and am currently marathoning all your videos! Great tips!
I packed a bit more stuff in my medium bag, like a few more tops and bottoms and took simalar shoes to the kind you had and one pare that are the same as yours and my bag came to 20.1 pounds. So i'll have so much room to bring things back. I'm so happy.
Sonia Gils, I think you are a genius and I love you. Thank you so much!
I'm brasilian, and your portuguese is very good!!! love your videos!
Good tips, but I have trained myself to pack everything I need in a carryon suitcase and personal bag for any length of trip. I had an epiphany after a family vacation to Grand Teton National Park, for which I packed everything but the kitchen sink, for all four family members. IT WAS HORRIBLE, but it taught me a lesson. Never pack things you might need; only pack things you absolutely need. Love your RUclips channel. Thanks for the fun videos and great travel info.
This will really help when I road trip the Pacific Coast

I used to pack a lot of clothing for long trips, but now I just pack 1.2 weeks worth of clothing, as long as I know I can do the laundry :p I need a versatile scarf! and I bought myself some packing cubes for my last trip because of you! was great and saved so much space! :)
Hola! Viajo todo el tiempo por mi trabajo y tu videos han sido una bendición! Asi que mil gracias!! Saludos desde Puerto Rico.
Thank You. Great tips, just in time!
Thank you! Thank you so much for doing this one. I'm planning on a 2 month long trip next summer and couldn't figure out how to pack.
Just got back from 3 weeks in Italy. Found that I needed faster drying items. Next time I will take very fast drying underwear. I would wash out some item at night but often was still damp in the morning and I needed several days at one place to let it completely dry.
However, love your rules. They really do work!!! Love seeing your new videos! I used all your suggestions before packing!
If you only want to do carry-on... pack for 1 week! Tried it out for myself when I was away for 2 weeks... Worked like a charm.
Have a great trip!!
THANK YOU SOO MUCH!!! I was going crazy just to have an idea of what to bring and it was all a hot mess. But finally someone who gives great tips and gives an idea of what to bring (psst btw thats you;)). Thank you once again...
That works too. Done it many times. Maybe that will be a video- packing for long trips in a carry one ;D
Perfecto! I am going for two weeks and this is exactly what I wanted to know!
on my way to Europe this Sunday! hope this will help me
This was so incredibly helpful. Thank you so much for this video! :)
I use the scented fabric softener in my compression bags so my clothes arrive with a just washed scent! I put that and all my clothes in compression bags - I can pack more in my bags and they are protected from moisture, dust/dirt, bugs and odors!
I love you -- your videos are so helpful .. I'm travelling a few hours from now and I've been watching most of your vids ♥
Yes! Finally! Sonia has answered my request! :D Thanks Sonia!
I'm Brazilian, so I can tell you: Great Portuguese! Congrats!
Beijos. :-*
Awesome tips! Very useful and practical!
Good to know!! THanks :)
I love it! And I have an upcoming 3-week trip yay!
Thank you Sonia! I am heading to France and Italy for the first time and your videos are helping me out so much! I'm gonna follow this packing rule so I don't over pack!! Any more tips?
I really needed this. Thank you. I know how to pack properly when I'm overseas visiting family for two months. You're the best! Subscribed :D
Thank you!! I'm going on a giant 3 month holiday next year and was about to buy a giant suitcase even though I hate lugging them around.
love your videos and your 'tude'! You make it fun and bring a smile to my face!
That is so helpful. .. you are so right I always take many clothes and I end up wearing only some
thanks for telling me.
YAY! I was waiting for this. Just in time as well.
Love that accent! This really helps for future trips of mine. always looking forward to your videos.
Bless you for *not having music* in ur videos 👍
Hello, Sonia! I'm from Brazil! Que legal que estã
Yay! I had been wondering when you would say your hello in Portuguese! Awesome! Just try to make your "ão" sound a little more nasal. It's a tricky pronunciation, but you'll rock it!
Obrigada Alexandre... Uff, I study haaaaard. My greatest trick is writing everything down many many times. It has to be handwritten so that the words stick
You can use the scarf as laundry bag too.
Also, thank you for these videos!
This is one of the politest comments section I have seen on a RUclips channel - it makes a refreshing change. Obviously Sonia's followers are very nice people. :-)
Great video. I'd love to see how you pack when you are traveling with your dog... how do you pack his bowls, food, blankets etc...?!
Awesome
I just got back from a 6 week backpacking trip around europe and I bought a compression bag that I was able to roll so the air would squeeze out. It helped with saving space and keeping my bag super organized because my clothes were in one spot. I took a 50 l backpack that was considered carry on size and was able to have enough clothes and space to last me my trip
Love this video. I am taking a road trip to the mountains and the dessert. I can't lift a 45 pound med suitcase so I am taking 2 small carry on type bags and a makeup case, In one case I have my mountain gear and in another case I have my desert gear but all the clothes are interchanged .
Its a 3 week long road trip.
Love the tips but could you do a video on how to pack for an around the world trip
Can you make a video on road trips!? I love your videos by the way!
Very helpful. . . thanks!
I'm a huge fan of packing less and buying stuff while I'm there. ;) Also I backpack so carrying less = huge payoff. I travelled to Spain for two months this year and brought two dresses, two sweaters, two pairs of leggings, a jacket, flats and a pair of boots. I don't mind washing clothes almost every day... and it won't kill me to wear the same dress more than once without washing it. ;)
Great tip - I just did Britain for 2 weeks in a carry on and still had too much. Next time I'll go with less. Layering is the key. I think you could get by with less if you go with either black or brown toned clothes and shoes. You only need 2 pair of shoes that way and a pair of ballerina slippers for lounging.
You are my Packing Guru :) I am a new subscriber from India.
"Just 3 pairs of shoes"... not including your running shoes...
You wear them on the plane....
Aneurin Ortiz
I'm on a road trip right now, and I'm only gone for a week. I needed to use a huge bag and a small backpack!
So.. im traveling for 3 months and i was shocked when she said it would all fit in a carry on!... I'll extend this list a little bit more haha... Specially since i'll be flying from Warm Hawaii to Cold S.Korea.... But still awesome helpful video! :D Thanks!
Perfect, this is just what I was looking for, thank you thank you thank, and in Dutch, Dank je wel!!!
Very nice video! Perfect, just what I was looking for :)
Awesome tips thanks
I'm portuguese as well (just writing this in engllish for the sake of other people reading it) and it doesn't really matter if she's learning portuguese from Brazil. Hell it's even better, because we, here in Portugal, are used to hear and understand it, but not the other way around. So it's normal for foreigns to learn portuguese from Brazil.
Your portugues is really good!!
Thank you so much! This helps me out a lot right now, getting ready for Uni this Sept! :D
I love you I have a scarf obsession too they are magical
I so love your vlogs! Very helpful!

Hi Sonia! Love your channel! Just wondering whether you could do a video/review on what shoes over to Europe in winter! I'm travelling around Europe from November-January this year and have NO IDEA what kind of shoes to take so my feet stay warm and dry :) Thanks!
Bom dia ' I loved it !
Perfect ideas for packing ! I am packing my suitcase to go to Brazil and this video really helped . Bjos querida obrigada 😘
I went on a 3 month trip and travelled carry on only. 1 week worth of clothes, minimal toiletries and shoes. It worked well for me! I guess it's to each their own.
Ah-Mazing !!! I really needed this !!!
Thx for your tips!
Good info, thanks
Awesome video!! Wish I had seen this when I traveled to Germany!
But, have you done a video for traveling to the Caribbean or to the beach? ☺️☺️
I'm actually going to be 'traveling'/studying abroad for about five months.
I have a big suit case, I believe it's about 50lbs. Even with this clothes (and future space for items), this is a big case. For me, I'm a bargain shopper, so a tip I'd give is purchase your personal hygiene items online. Ex: I bought a 96 box count of tampons for only $20USD which is cheaper than most places. Put it in a large ziploc- do the same for other things & it helps + you will use these items & have space again!
great video wise one. Relativelt you travel heavy though. I usually do with 3 change of clothes and some laundry washing detergent.
Omg I'm learning portuguese to haha well anyways I'm going on a week long trip and always pack more then I need so this was very helpful thanks :)
our english teacher show this video for our topic travel
