8:45: You CAN restore from a backup, but you first have to restore it to another (spare) phone - backup THAT phone, and then restore that phone's backup to the original you want to stay supervised. I think when it realises it's a different handset, it doesn't override the supervised state.
Scenario: Blue iPhone has an old backup with lots of documents and files you would like to keep, but you've reset it to supervise it. Red iPhone is a spare, you restore Blue iPhone's old backup with all the documents onto it. You then backup Red iPhone to itunes, all the files are now in this backup except it is now from a different handset. You then reset and test Blue iPhone to ensure it's enrolled and supervised, wipe it and restore Red iPhone's backup to Blue iPhone -> result it should remain supervised.
Appreciate the video and a clear look at how deep this goes. One question is on the JAmf products. Have you used the educational product and does it offer less or even more than jamf now. Im digging through all the online info but its ... well a lot. Appreciate all the info, you definitely helped me leap frogged a lot of confused frustration.
Hey, this video is exactly what I needed to finally push me over the edge. I’ll be smashing that referral link and maybe picking up some Pert Plus while I’m at it. This hair is not going to condition it’s self.
This is great, I like the others below have both Apple and Android devices. Would love to hear your recommendation for a system/company that will accommodate both?
Awesome video! Thanks so much! I seem to be stuck on step 3. It turns out the Apple token keeps downloading in .pem format. I can't seem to find any option on Apple Business Manager to download as .p7m file format. Any ideas where I dropped the ball along the way? Thanks.
Lets say I am setting this up personally and I want to set this up for a mac os, ipad and iphone that i already own while trying to add vpns and dns servers which cannot be removed or deleted to the device, how would i do it
Great Stuff. How about a part 2 with Android? Most Companies I know don't use Apple products. Way to temperamental but at least you got us thinking about what we need to do to put a mdm in place for us here. Thanks for the insight you always have good content.
3 weeks in and finally getting some answers. Verizon is useless for help. I'm still struggling with this: If I purchase from Verizon and have their reseller number listed in Apple Business manager, Do I still need to have my Apple customer number as was shown in the video? If so how do I locate this number?
The purpose of both the apple customer number and reseller numbers is the same: to link your account to your device vendor for auto-enrollment. If you never intend to purchase devices directly from apple then there is no need to fill in the apple customer number. Here are some details on finding the numbers: support.apple.com/en-us/HT204401
Please do a video on Android based MDM since Android has a larger user base due to how cheap Android devices (on average) are compared to Apple devices.
I have created a custom MDM Server but to create MDM APNS it needs Singing Certificate. How to get MDM signing Certificate capabilities enabled on my Apple Developer account.
I'm setting up Jamf pro, im admin in small MSP. 1. in my jamf pro UI looks not same at all. Not even close to the one from video. 2. While loging into apple push cert portal, im getting message : Your Managed Apple ID doesn't have access to this application. Contact your organization's administrator.
Hey buddy, really good video. Is 'User Initiated Enrollment' a fourth type of enrollment for Jamf? I've used it before when you go onto a machine that isn't enrolled and you type in a URL/enrol and it download and installs the profiles.
We're looking into going to Macs for our alternative school, but we need really tight control. Can we basically just lock down MacOS to Safari and Microsoft Office apps only? Everything else disabled to the user. We also, at least currently, manage what features they have access to in our Windows machines Office apps via administrative templates and group policy, which is Microsoft network stuff. Can we get this same level of control here Macs?
Hi, thank you so much. I payed 800 euros to my company to have a iPhone15Pro256. Despite my pay I understand that the company own my phone installing MDM. I have googled many MDM remove or bypass methods. What do you think, do they work? Does the company will know that I did Bypass theyr MDM ? THANK YOU !!!
Unfortunately, unless I’m mistaken you can’t obtain DUNS number for Apple Business Manager (for device auto enrolment etc) unless you have registered a full business in the UK. So, if you’re looking to setup Jamf and want to test the full functionality you’ll need to setup a full business in the UK!? I might be wrong, but if not this is a shame!

You’re a life saver dude. This video beats anything Jamf has to offer by far!
I work for a MDM reseller and this is the best descriptive video I have seen. Thank You!
Great explanation. I am completely new to this process and you laid it out in the most clear and concise way I've found so far.
Your videos are the best! This was exactly what I need to finally get my new ipads set up and on Jamf. Thank you Blue Collar Nerd!!

You are a genius at MDM
I can vouch for Jamf. They are from my state and do great outstanding work.

Great video. We broke the rules and were using 1 applie id for all techs! are busy changing this now. Thanks for the timely and informative video
A huge, huge thank you for this video!
Jamf has worked well for us as well
totally totally TOTALLY badass man.. Thank you!!
Excellent video. Great voice and diction
Great presentation!!
Are the licenses free for each device? Great video by the way.
This is great, I like the others below have both Apple and Android devices. Would love to hear your recommendation for a system/company that will accommodate both?
Hey Great video...but its on Jamf now ....would it be possible to do a similar video on Jamf Pro?
Awesome video! Thanks so much! I seem to be stuck on step 3. It turns out the Apple token keeps downloading in .pem format. I can't seem to find any option on Apple Business Manager to download as .p7m file format. Any ideas where I dropped the ball along the way? Thanks.
Bro…thank u. I subbed.
Awesome walk through..! :-p
Sincerely appreciate you making this video. It’s extremely informative and offers a lot of really good information, thank you! Like and subscribe 👍

Android doesn't have a great all in one MDM solution and is a disaster. Stick with iPads for techs, they just work better.
How do you track location with Jamf? My understanding you can only do this with iCloud and that would be back to one iCloud for all devices.

Did you fix it ?
is it better to just use apple business essentials?
great video, one question? is JAMF the only cost involve in this process or there is additional fees on ABM?
It has converted my account to the new business essentials so I am stuck at the apps section, do you know how to proceed with that portion?
I'm in this situation. I have given an iPhone xs max to someone and now it is in activation lock mode. Can It help me somehow please help sir 😬😬🙏
Amazing Video, exactly what i was looking for. Guess the all company Apple ID will die now 😂
Why do i've never heared about this..

Oh wait, I think the third one sounds like what i'm referring to

If I were to do a factory reset of an iPad would I then be able to enroll it via the no touch Automated enrollment?
What do you recommend doing for Apple sign ons? Have an id for each technician?
Does this work with android devices too? Or just Apple

Just to clarify does JAMF support Android devices?
Honestly maybe I need an MDM for my personal phone so I can force myself to stop doom scrolling on social media...
MDM also functions a better parental control software better than the native Apple Parental Control software.
