- Originally known as East Towne Mall, this mall operated from July 1984 to January 2020 and was demolished in 2022. This mall had 5 anchor tenants and sat on 964,000 square feet with 2 floors inside along with a movie theater and Chinese restaurant.
East Towne Mall received major renovations by its owner in 1997. The outside was left unchanged raised from a new entrance, the inside was renovated with new tile..paint..trim and more. The mall adopted a Tennessee mountain theme which once renovations were complete it adopted the name Knoxville Center.
Come along as we see what was left behind, and thanks for watching.
Wow , I am surprised that the thugs haven’t started tearing up this mall. I thought this mall was torn down.
It’s not longer there, was demolished but it was soo clean when I explored it.
They are supposed to be building an Amazon there but they have lost lines it for while for some reason.
Christmas shopping here was a tradition with my parents since childhood. I was so devastated to see it go, West Town Mall just doesn't have the same charm that East did :(
It was such a nice looking mall, I can imagine how nice those Christmas’s were here back in the day.
I enjoy west town, but you’re right, east town was just so special. It felt like a present ever time we went. I miss it too
Man this kills me. So many great memories there. It was always a treat to go. Even to just walk around and look at everything. Real special place. It’s now an Amazon that’s hasn’t opened yet.
Sounds like the space is just going to waste, would love to see the old mall still around. I loved walking around seeing the place just sadly not in its prime
Great job
Thank you so much
I spent a lot of time there in the 80's, now Amazon has an empty brand-new building there that stands empty. That was such a cool place, so sad to see it gone.
Amazon seems to be buying up everything, I wish the mall was still around instead.
That mall was really nice. It’s sad malls are closing. It’s a staple I didn’t think much about and thought would last. Thank you for documenting this mall since it’s no longer standing.
It really is so sad to see, loved seeing this mall and glad you enjoyed the video.
I loved this mall so much, sad to see it go
It looked amazing, would have loved seeing it still open
The candy temptation...lol and you hoped it would be in date. Always weird that they leave the power on though. I wouldnt be touching things but, then again, its kinda cool to see the neon one last time.
Had to check the candy, nothing like a sweet treat through the mall and seeing the neon was too cool. Glad they were working
my childhood :( me and my mom used to go every birthday.
That’s too cool, which was your favorite store?
@@highitszack since I was 5-12 during the times we went, my favorite was claires but I loveddddd the food area and how you could sit and look down and sometimes they would have it to where ppl would be bungee jumping.
I'm surprised they just left 500 bucks worth of movie candy like that!! lol
CM Games had the most left. Drinks, gaming stuff and more in the back of the store. Movie was awesome though with the pricey candy ha
I live in the Toledo, Ohio area and at one time there were four major malls operating. There is only one mall left and it’s thriving. All the others have been demolished.
I used to love malls so much growing up, seems they just keep disappearing at a faster rate.
@@highitszack I believe that internet shopping has been the root cause. Another reason for their demise is the location of the mall and crime rates. The only mall left here in Toledo is in a very affluent area. They still had problems with crime.
I still love malls
Sweet video 📹. I'm shocked to see that the condition is so good. I wish my mall had a movie 🎬 theater 🎥 inside. You should check out century 3 mall in Pennsylvania. It's one huge abandoned mall. If you ever come out to Connecticut I have four dead malls for you. We have the Meriden mall, Waterbury mall, crystal mall, and Enfield Square mall.
Thank you so much, I have a new video dropping in 5 minutes. If I’m ever up that way I’ll check em out
Thanks I really appreciate it. I'm definitely going to check out your new banger.
Trout fish... Maybe there was a fishing theme planned? Wow, I always loved the TENT style centered ones with the ENORMOUS pillars tilted to hold the "tent" up. It let in SSOO much naural light WITHOUT being glass. A DOPE. A.F. design for sure & WILL be MISSED infinity %. ""OH DUDE!!!"" LoL ... Yo!!! How did you find that switch!???? How did you do that please?? Thanks much!!
I loved the design with the tent style center, was super cool to see with great lighting. The movie theater was my favorite part, was a tough entry
@@highitszack Cool! What do you mean by; "was a tough entry"? Please & Thanks. =o)
Dang I should’ve took my skateboard down there before they tore it down
That would have been too rad
Liked
So glad you enjoyed it, appreciate the support
@@highitszack come check out our mall playlist some time
"operated from July 1984 to January 2022 and was demolished in 2021"
So it operated after it was demolished? lol
Fixed that typo, good looks. Haha
How wasteful that they didn't salvage that stuff and donate or sell it. Just more stuff to fill up landfills 😡😡
You’ve got that right, it’s crazy to see all of it go to waste.
All the contents were auctioned off. I bought a few things. Loved that place❤
@@hereintn That’s really cool, what goodies did you get?
@@hereintn me too. Actually worked at both the Penneys and the Millers Department Stores back in the 80's
@@highitszack 2 huge planters, a bench, toys used in Christmas displays, a standing sign and a few other items in the lot I won.
