      @@GreasyFingers My pleasure! Again, I envy you... the 70's/80's model Porsche 911 is the car of my dreams.
      Now, they're too expensive to purchase a restored model outright, and I have neither the time nor the skills to find an old one and do it myself as excellent as you have obviously done. I'm a perfectionist... so anything less than perfectly restored would not even remotely be an option for me.
      Anyway, congrats... and by all means... ENJOY! 🙂

    Thank you for the videos. Very helpful and informative. I purchased an 87’ and will be doing many of the same projects. Good to have a guide. I removed the seats as well and encounter a similar level of grime! Lol

      Under-seat grime, unlike say engine grime, has that touch of biology which I find particularly disgusting. 😆

    Love your practical approach. You inspired me to look for an oldtimer cooperative...or maybe found one myself. Ah, the perfect guys club: one has a wooden Dragon sloop, the other an AN-2, the next guy a Porsche 356 or 911 and so on. Membership gets you four days a year with each! Don´t even have time for more...

      @@GreasyFingers already joined an oldtimer club where I live (an hour north of Frankfurt am Main). Am still mulling over whether to go with a 356 or a 911. I´m 66 years old and finally have time and money. The cooperative idea came to mind because so many of my acquaintances have one or the other but have their toys locked up...what a shame! A heated barn with a level concrete floor is what I `m looking for now to set up shop. Keep your fingers crossed!

    Great vid. To get the grain of the leather "putty" just take a scrap piece of leather, or even vinyl that has a leather grain, and press it in to the soft putty before it dries and it will leave the grain in it when it dries.

    Great vid. I don't have to do any of this to the reddish seats on my 1984 Carrera Cabrio yet BUt very useful info. I hate the plastic seat back release catches on the side of the upright seat squab. They are a push fit with small metal sprimg clips but the plastic is weak.

    Exact year and colour with the exact damages. I will tackle next summer. How many hours? Too bad you did show how to remove the seat from the car.

      Removing the seats is almost too easy to mention. Just loosen four screws and you’re done.
      Note that the Carreras don’t have simple nuts to keep the seats in place, but small steel bars with threads, I suppose as a measure of crash safety.

      The airbrush is an IWATA.
      It’s prime feature is having virtually no overspray which qualifies it for repair jobs. Maybe I’ll show it one more time when I do the fender repair.

    When I originally bought my '83 sc I treated my dry, brown leather seats with bees wax and now find the leather has become quite stiff. I have since purchased a reputable leather treatment but it won't absorb into the leather because of the wax.
    Is there a solution to this problem?

      Hello Hugh. I’ve no idea really.
      I used to treat my motorbike leather with bee wax and I remember it having the same stiffening effect.
      Just guessing, but maybe putting an absorbent cloth over it and gently applying some heat?

    Clamps are called hog ties, u can get em on Amazon. Great for tying seats down

      @@GreasyFingers There is a tool called "hog-ring pliers" that is used to install the "hog rings". You place the hog ring in the pliers' jaws, encircle the seat's wires/springs with the hog ring and squeeze the handle of the pliers, which closes the hog ring.

    Your videos are very nice and I am with you with most of your restaurations. But my experiences with artificial leather are bad. You need to get this done properly but abgeatmet reupholsterer, in German a Autosattlerei. There are good ones.

    So eine spezielle Zange für die Polsterklammern ist wirklich hilfreich und auch nur 15…20€ teuer.
    Von den meisten Zeug vom Lederzentrum halte ich wenig, ist eher nur oberflächliche Kosmetik.
    Erfahrung der letzten 15 Jahre bei mir.

    I like your videos but I am not with you went it comes to artificial leather glue. Bring it to angoss car reupholstered and get it repaired properly.
